Knicks · Knicks have reached out to Boston and Clippers about Melo (page 7)

Welpee @ 1/27/2017 10:52 AM
Since I've been slamming other people's trade ideas it's only fair for me drop this one out there to be ripped apart too:

Clips receive
Melo
Semaj Christon

OKC receive
Blake Griffin
Kyle O'Quinn
Ray Felton
N'dour

Knicks receive
Kanter
Cameron Payne
Brice Johnson
Diamond Stone
Clips 2021 first round pick

Justification: Blake will be a free agent, no guarantee Clips can resign him, gotta believe he has major long term interest in OKC his hometown and playing with Westbrook. OKC needs a 2nd star to ensure Westbrook says. OKC being able to sign big time free agents is remote. Clips trying to win now during CP3s prime window, Melo would probably waive no trade. Though I don't like Kanter we have to accept a major contract to move Melo. O'Quinn fills void of losing Kanter plus they already have Adams. Payne and Johnson are young assets. Stone and N'dour just filler to make money work. Trade accepted on ESPN's trade machine.

Slam away. lol

Who do you want back, realistically?

Yeah, THAT would be a disaster.

If Clippers dont want to include Blake in a trade then I want 3 first rounders plus Crawford and Reddick

JJ Reddick, other expiring contracts, and a first. So I'm not asking for much. But i'd feel pretty good if what they would have paid for Melo we get back with Lee

also, I'd let everyone know the trade is going to happen within 24 hours unless they have a better offer

I would want Rivers back. He's playing well and would start here at the 2. He can shoot and pass, so i think he fits well with KP. I would tell them to use Reddick to go get us a 1st round pick. Rivers, Johnson and a 1st rounder would be a decent haul.

Does that mean that Blake comes as well?

Welpee @ 1/27/2017 11:26 AM
I have no problem moving Lee. Just don't want Reddick in return, unless we can somehow get a pick (other than that 2021 first round pick which is the only one they can move).

I read we can't take Blake's contract because of some bizarre CBA rule that makes no sense.

we'd have to trade Rose first. Something about his contract and Blakes can't be on same team

If that is the case then one scenario that can work is

Anthony. CLee for Rivers, Crawford and Reddick.

I would want 2 to 3 1st rounders to go with that deal.

There's a ton of links out there about LAC interest in Melo. One reporter just mentioned there is interest in Lee. It's not secret that LAC would gladly take Melo, especially for cheap. Why wouldn't they?

why not try to understand the clause instead of just saying it makes no sense? it's really not that hard to comprehend.

after the 2011 lockout if a player was ever designated after their rookie contract was up, teams could sign the player to a higher max contract to keep them. you get the designated tag by one or more of the following ways...being named the league MVP, being twice named to the all-nba team, or being a two-time starter in the all-star game. theres only been a handful of guys that have ever achieved this, so the rule states you can only have one of these players on your team at a time if you acquired the player via trade. so since rose is on the roster already, that means we can't have griffin too.

the nba wants these home-grown players staying with the teams that drafted them, hence the clause, making it harder for other teams to acquire them.

No they want Lee. Now maybe adding Lee to Melo could get us Blake and we'll take one of their bad contracts back like Crawford who we can most likely trade to a contender.

yellowboy90 @ 1/27/2017 12:18 PM
If their is no other team willing to take ob Melo why would the CLips give the Knicks any picks? Also, their picks are locked up until 2021 when they know they will need to rebuild by then.
