Remember, its all rumor.
Usually they tend to disappoint.
dwiley20 wrote:nooooooo!!!!!!! Keep rose...Why would we want Rubio
Because one is actually a point guard who looks to drive and then pass. The other just looks to score. Rose has completely forgotten (or never had) how to play like a point guard. He is a very good scorer off drives and once he can take a close short jumper. He can drop 20 points a night consistently. He's very good at that. The problem is with him, KP and Melo, there just isn't enough playmaking and passing. You can't have a good team where everyone is just shoot first. Someone has to move the ball, make it work.
Also defensively, I think Rubio is a better defender than Rose, but I need to watch him more often.
BRIGGS wrote:Yeah Rubio and their unprotected lottery pick and nothing less. If we make a 1-1 trade and take on thT cap without a lottery pick. Phil should quit.
Are you under this illusion that Rose is a MVP Rose?
No one is giving you that much for Rose.
If you get a young starter on a decent contract for Rose, that's a good deal. You won't get a young starter as well as a draft pick which could be a lottery pick. Come on. What reality do you live in, Briggs?
FWIW back in November, I suggested that the team move Rose/Noah to Minneosta as it was clear that Noah was a bad fit and that Rose just wasn't a point guard that would pass. I recall making a thread about it, somewhere here. Sota is one of the few teams with Thibs maybe tthe only team that would value Noah and Rose that much.

note that melo has puerto rican roots...so kinda spanish himself :)

Are you taking credit for the rumor or are Rose and Noah getting traded? What did we get back in return?

i think he was being sarcastic
Rubio here will be a very interesting dynamic. I think he's a good fit with this coach and we will see more of JH's hands on the team if we get him here.

well he can't shoot, so by default, he'd have to create for his teammates! how brilliant of phil... bring in someone who has no choice but to pass the ball to KP
Knicks are only 4 games out 8th... I could see better defense and ball movement getting them into the post season or at least playing better. Buyers beware!

Thats where Rubio injury prone history comes into play

not if we ask KP to keep launching from 3 point land and not drive at all. :) great draft pick here we come!

If we throw in KOQ, I want a pick and/or Shabazz Muhammad
i wouldn't overplay our hand.. i agree i'd like bazz or a pick back also, but rose is only a 3 month rental, so i'm not sure how much we can hold out for.
Rubio's contract goes for two years longer than Rose's - we're helping the T'Wolves out here immensely.
Fact that it is Thibbs coaching the other team has to make you think that Minny wants to resign him.Other thing is that if the reports are true they are approaching us.
If we can't get this year's #1 from them, I'd push for their #2 and some kind of protected #1 (top 5?) next year.
Sick of getting taken advantage by other teams over the years when it comes to draft picks.
Windhorst said they just want to get out of Rubio's contract because Thibs loves Dunn. But Thibs loves DRose as well.
Interesting...even more reason to pick up a #1 from them if they are desperate to dump Rubio.
I'm in an exploitative mood at this point.
If they really wanted to get rid of Rubio, they could easily stretch his salary. So I don't understand why people feel they desperately need to dump him as if he coulsn't easily be moved for an expirer.
Something to ask Minny... so are you saying that getting Rose is what the T-Wolves really want?
We are going on the assumption that Minnesota came to us on this...No?
One nice caveat that hasn't been mentioned is Minny is under the cap so Knicks won't have to match salaries in a Rubio/Rose swap.
NardDogNation wrote:Seriously, what is the fascination with Shabazz Muhammed? Isn't he just a significantly worse version of Melo that would be a blackhole on offense?
Never been a fan of his.
Instant offense...keep him in if on...quick to the bench if off?

That just stuck out to me, because I remember Phil tried to get Reggie Jackson when he did the Shump/JR trade.
That'd be a terrible move. Reggie Jackson seems to be a cancer in lockerroom that has burned bridges in OKC and has done the same in DET. Why add that to a rebuilding team, especially when it is obvious that he aimply isn't that good?
It wouldn't be my first choice... but it stuck out to me because I remember Phil was interested in him.
Ditto. The better move would be to hang in the cut, wait till free agency and then sign Darren Collison on a short-term/above market contract he can't turn down. Phil Jackson reportedly had interest in him in a trade before Shumpert hurt himself.....let's go down this route instead of acquiring a well established cancer that can't shoot.
Yeah, that's a smart move. I would sign Collison. I would give him two years $20M or something. That's a better deal for us than Austin Rivers or Rubio and he's a better player.
Austin Rivers is a backup combo guard, so I don't see why he couldn't fit well with Darren Collision who had Russell Westbrook as his running mate in college. Jeff Hornancek likes two-PG offenses (see Dragic-Bledsoe), so why wouldn't Collision and Rivers play together?
Well, maybe the Melo trade happens over the summer, but it sure doesn't seem like it's happening now.
Also, the draft has a ton of great young guards and we're talking about trading for Rubio.
For what it is worth...Rubio would be a good teacher for any young PG...much better than Rose.
LivingLegend wrote:Who is going to inform Towns/Wiggins that Rose will never pass them the ball unless it as a last resort?Seriously though from an offensive standpoint we go from a overly aggressive PG to a passive PG.
It's the D and the unselfishness that give Rubio the edge but not sure why Thibs would go Rose route tbh even with him expiring.
Have to run the offense through Towns, who is an excellent passer, I would think. Will also put much more pressure on the Minny frontline to block shots since Rose is a bad perimeter defender.

He's a back up that cost 14 mm. He has never shot 40% in his career and is a low volume 25% 3 point shooter. He's lost steps on D and doesn't get up and down that great. I don't want Rubio. I'd rather let Rose expire unless they give us their pick. They can make a deal w boston to move that 2018 to 2019. Why does anyone want a career 37% shooter as their starting pg? Just compare steph cirrus efg and Rubio. You guys just want the Knicks to continue to stink

I agree with BRIGGS that you have to get more due to the decline in Rubio's play. However, I don't think you can get a lottery pick out of this. It might have to be a 2 year lottery protected 1st rounder.

If we are getting draft picks in return, I'd certainly accept Rubio's contract which is easily movable
