You really think Rose is going to be a smarter, better player if Melo is gone? He still doesn't have a decent jumper, passing, or defense, and I don't think you can just put that on Melo. He hasn't played like a guy worth almost $20 mil per season in years. This looks like a bad gamble to me.

Looking at Goran Dragic you see why Hornachek had so much more success with him than Rose. Goran is a real double threat in penetration to the basket. You see him look to pass or shoot almost equally and on reading the D. Rose is completely in tunnel vision most of the time. Even so, Rose is a great great driver and the team's offense is more effective with him driving than no effctive driver at all. But first I'd look for a PG that can pass off drives and has real court vision and can find the players open.

If your PG plays like a SG, you'll never adopt the mentality Phil/Horny want for the team, which is to look for the better shot and make the extra pass.

Even having someone like Dragic who is not an all-star level PG, could transform the Knicks.

I'm done with Rose because while he has value as a driver, he does not make teammates better and commands a high usage of the ball in the PG role. We need a PG that is equally competent at drives and passes. This season we had a great driver who could not pass, a good passer who could not score off drives (BJ) and a D-League rookie.

A good balanced PG is far more the investent we need to make over Rose.
