I don't have an issue with KP having support for his friend Melo but this seems out of character for KP. I'm going to reserve judgment on this until we hear directly from KP how he feels. It also makes me wonder if Melo spoke to KP and influenced his view on things.

This is not Good! If KP doesn't the direction of the team, he needs to log on...plenty of people here seem to know what the plan is

It seems perfectly logical that Melo could've spoke to KP. KP wasn't expressing anger to the degree that he wasn't going to do his exit interview. If this is true. This seems to be a departure from his usual way of doing things. I'm going to wait until KP speaks on the subject.
This is why Melo got to go. His influence is high with the young ones. This is an example of Melo leadership. KP needed to do the exit interview unless Knicks management told him he doesn't need to do one.

Just seems out of character for KP, but I can imagine he's not happy to hear that his teammate and mentor, Melo, might be being pushed out. KP may not realize the reasons why, which is why he should've gone to his Exit Interview. Still this could all be a misunderstanding by the media. Gotta wait to hear from KP what the truth is.

He did go through some turmoil with the last Spanish team he played on.
Strange how some will look at a young player's development on the court...understanding that they have to develop and grow as a player, but don't take into consideration the same thing re their emotional maturity and how they carry themselves as adults.
If he was not frustrated over his first two years on the Knicks, I would be worried. Guys play to win.
Remember, that he also expressed disappointment with how the team was playing when they were 14-10, realizing that they had a winning record but were not playing the right way.
I just don't see this as a big thing, and if anything, I like the fact that it might light a fire under him so he works harder in the off season.
My love for KP as a player is known, but I can't deny that I was not happy with the fact that he clearly did not work on his body like he should have, something that was evident later in the season.
He should come in at 250lbs next year. Do some timed speed and agility drills before he starts the workout, and periodically retest to see what is happening with his times.
I don't see why he cannot be the same player in terms of quickness at 250, as he was at whatever weight he played at this year (235???), and we know the extra weight will help him rebounding and in the post.
Frustration is fine...but it has to be a starting point, and he has to take responsibility for his own actions...or inactions. Hopefully KP understands this.
KP missing the exit interview is not Melo's fault and that is solely on KP. That being said, the team needs to trade Melo asap. If we can get anything decent for him (a mid-first rounder or a decent young player), the Knicks should jump at that. I still would like to see if we could convince Boston to swap picks with us for Melo (and I would want Rozier). We could then draft Josh Johnson, and we would then have a pretty solid frontline of Johnson, KP, and Willy.
Like Phil or not, this is a really bad look.
This is a bad look for everyone. But ultimately, everyone will get over it. Not a big deal.

Why is Dolan always so loyal to the guys that just suck so bad at their jobs? Grunwald had a winning record and got the Knicks to the playoffs both years he was in place. Walsh was pretty good and certainly wasn't dysfunctional like Isiah. The league had to intervene to get Isiah removed. I believe Dolan teared up when he replaced Layden. Now Phil is getting two more years.
Melo and Rose have posisoned this roster may as well trade Porzingis , purge everyone on the roster and draft all new players

Phil has only had 1 first round pick in his tenure. You really have to give him all 5 years. Limited resources means limited options. It's like firing the new Brooklyn management after 3 years. Phil has been bad at building the culture he promised. That's on him. But from a basketball perspective he needs drafts picks to build with. The direction he probably wanted to go wasn't an option when he took over.

After Melo is gone watch everyone here turn on Porzingis. Bad attitude, doesn't play D, share the ball...it's all coming. If we can't win at least we are set for having a scapegoat for a couple years.

That is probably the narrative the media will take and some will refer to as the gospel. But those in the know that a young team will need time.

maybe. But he is going against management. I think he is right but it certainly doesn't go a long with creating a culture etc.
