Knicks · Woj on KP and Phil and the Triangle (page 2)

Fisher was a great young coach. It was clear Melo and KP respected the hell out of him. Phil's first MAJOR mistake was firing Fisher. I didn't love the Tyson trade, or giving away Shump and JR. But Fish rolled with it and had the team playing respectable, team ball last season. Melo's highest assist season of his career. KP looked like Rookie of the Year while Fisher was here. Phil fired him because he wouldn't run the Triangle enough and wouldn't let Phil in on his practices. Phil wants a puppet coach like Rambis or apparently Hornacek. It's been downhill since the Fisher firing, and the steering wheel has flown off at this point.
I would not go that far. He had a lot of in game and late game problems too. I do not care if he dated Barnes girl but he should not have left in the middle of training camp. What I will say that it did seem like after halftime when the knicks would get down Fisher would scrap the triangle and go with a more PnR based offense.
Yeah, he would run a 4/5 pick and roll with Melo and Rolo that was very effective. But he would save it for the 4th quarter. It allowed us to catch teams by surprise.
Ok, great young coach may be too strong.
But I thought he was a very promising young coach. And it really did seem like Melo trusted him, and KP, too.
I was mystified by his firing and I complained it seemed like he was being fired because he moved away from the Triangle at the time and some dudes here erupted in Phil support. Those same dudes were very pro-Rambis. Which is fine, except it turns out all the players hate Rambis, who has one of the worst winning percentages of any head coach ever.
Fisher's biggest knock as coach is that he could never settle on a starting lineup. Even when he found one that was playing well together. His reasoning was that it helped players adapt for any situation, but all it did was cause confusion, noone could get settled in their roles. Phil hired him while he was still a player, no coaching search, not to mention his fond affection for another players' wifes's........
Knicks Just racing to the bottom. Not defensible.
holfresh wrote:I doubt Phil trades KP but players missing Phil's Summer Triangle camp will probably be traded..
Maybe players saw what happen to last year participants
I'll say that this came from players like BJ and Melo's camps. Perhaps even Rose. Cuz KOQ, LT, Holiday, Baker, Randle, Kuz, Sasha, Noah, Willy, Ndour and Plumlee didn't say this crap!!! Is it even plausible that a major part of the team was against the Triangle? No I think there were a few instigators and we can pretty much guess who they are.
This team is going to have to purge "resistant" personnel as Phil said. The INMATES aren't running things. The team will be adding more young players who will also be more receptive to Coaching. This is some straight BS from a few guys that don't get it and never will.

I blame Melo for causing all this dysfunction its driving Phil crazy.

Willy also liked Melo's IG does that mean he is off the list? Noah is friends with Rose and they are like blood brothers so who knows what Noah is thinking.
I will say this though. I highly highly doubt it was Sasha and I am beginning to think he is on the team for a reason other than his knowledge of the triangle. Rambis has his eye on the coaches and Sasha has his eye on the players.
crzymdups wrote:So in summary:Phil's brilliant press conference performance has made Melo dig in and want to outlast Phil.
Give me a break.
Melo won't waive his NTC because he wants a zero pressure situation to play his brand of selfish ball while focusing on selling handbags and cologne and cell phones or whatever the hell else he wants with his BS "branding" routine.
Where is all this indignation from Melo when an opposing player blows by him because of Anthony's apathetic failure to even have basic defense?
There are some great quotes from Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen that they took it personally when an opposing offensive player had a good game against them or even scored against them.
So he's indignant when someone says, will you finally play some mother f**king defense you dumb dolt of a ball hog?
But he's got nothing to say on the court when he's a human turnstile?
Classic example of a person with TOO MUCH PRIDE BUT HAS ZERO DIGNITY.
"My pride is so so soooooo hurt because you said BIG MEANIE THINGS ABOUT ME!" ( You know like do your job, act like a leader, put in actual effort, think about something other than your own damn self all the time on a team)
But not so much dignity as to simply give everything you've got on the court, to take responsibility for being a professional and a veteran.
There was a documentary about a guy who was like 1200 pounds. He couldn't maintain that weight, except his family ENABLED HIM to stay that way by basically breaking the bank to feed him thousands of calories a day while he was immobile like Jabba The Hutt. Dude just got comfortable in his own misery.
Just enabling Melo by saying nothing when he doesn't play the right way is only ENABLING that kind of behavior. It's toxic for the entire team. The Knicks for too long have given Melo everything he's wanted. Maybe it's finally time to tell him to go pack his trash.
If you don't have the DIGNITY to act like a true professional ( you know, actually give MAX EFFORT) , then don't complain when your PRIDE gets butt hurt.

“We’re starting to learn it now the way we should [and] we should have been playing from the beginning of the season,” Porzingis said “So we’re a little behind. But every game we’re getting a little better. Hopefully, I don’t know when, we can start using it properly and making some impact playing it.”http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball...Porzingis, who returned Wednesday night after missing the past two games with a sprained right ankle, is happy the Knicks have gone back to utilizing more triangle since returning from the All-Star break last week. His opinion matters since the Knicks will be building around Porzingis.
Coach Jeff Hornacek said a goal for the rest of this season is to “continue to grow the offense,” and that the Knicks would evaluate players on whether they can play in it.
“I like the triangle,” Porzingis said. “My first season, the whole first season we played nothing but the triangle so I know it pretty well. I like the offense. It can only work if everybody believes in it and everybody executes it the right way.”

lmoa..he still thinks the d leaguers playing for a few bucks, are going to propel us to the next level after 2 years of triangles
This article is on every national internet sports site..way to go phil. I have never seen anything like it.
Notice how phil said (ANYBODY ON THE TEAM CAN BE TRADED FOR THE RIGHT DEAL) wow..that doesnt sit right with not just anyone on the team, but the fact the he flipped the roster 3 times, who's signing up for that..WAKE UP NIX, your running out of excuses..
Melo has way more power than phil across the boards...Phil is just too dumb to realize this. He has handle this franchise like a lost jerk.
I told you a while ago that we would lose KP if melo goes, and then those comments yesterday from phil shitted on everybody from the players to JH..(he said he came back from vacation after xmas, and decided to basically diminish the coaches role..just like fisher)
Phil said he is here to focus on the system, thats the fkng PRESIDENTS FOCUS..Imaging The presindet of the USA said his focus was on his staff and how that execute, fck what going on around the rest of the world, im more concern with HOUSEKEEPING..
Phil wants to run a triangle CULT

Yes, Phil has Maurice N'Dour and Sasha on his side.
Melo has KP and Willy and the Player's Association.
It's not really a fair fight, but Phil did ask for it. And give Melo the no trade. Somewhere, Jerry Krause is smiling.
