By that first line assumption, you would think history will never repeat. When in fact, history does repeat itself in a negative way if there is no opposition. This whole cavalier attitude you are displaying is one of the reasons why people like Trump come to power and another reason why they come very close, if not succeed, in destroying democracy.

Wake up. Do something. Convince others, even if it's just 1 other person. Saying words like "stay strong, stay together" is not enough. Exercise your freedom, don't just relish it.

Social media campaigns were begun in October to suppress votes from certain groups...blacks, women, Berners. Why do you think Russians have been indicted?

There has been NO study done to look at the influence of the hacking and social media campaigns on the election, but you would be foolish to believe the didn't achieve some of the things they wanted...kept some folks home...others vote 3rd party.

We already know they tried to hack some Dems running in swing states in 2018, and that they've explored hacking into voting records.

People wouldn't be going on as much about Russia if the government appeared to be hardening our election systems, if the GOP House didn't seem intent on destroying the investigation, and if Trump had not looked like a sellout . Trump calling it a hoax actually attracts scrutiny.

I think folks are able to multitask...the issue right now is that except for the courts, it is hard to block things Trump is doing to the environment.

Most local Dems are not running on Russia as a #1 issue, but it's something in the background that everyone is aware of, and continued awareness of what happened in 2016 will, at the very least, inspire some people to take action at the voting booth.

Going after "centrists" is one reason why Trump won, by the way. I'd prefer the Dems to move to the left, but thinking that some of the extreme ideas of the left are going to be easy to sell in the short term, shows a naiveté I find alarming.

The goal now is to vote the GOP out of power in 2018 in at least one body of Congress, and set things up for defeating Trump if he runs in 2020. I don't give a shyte if the Dem is a centrist or on the left at this point...Watching Trump sweat over the Russia issue, and seeing GOP Senators and Representatives cowering and not stepping up for the nation can be used by Dems in Congressional races to show their opponent does not have any independence from Trump.

Wr will disagree on quite a bit. The goal should be to come up with policies that actually work and to run on a platform to implement them. If a centrist does that I can get behind that. When your goal is to beat the other party you are already losing the narrative. It just leads to endless finger pointing. The core issue with centrists is that they have very few original ideas and the ones they do have get lost or brutally bent out of shape because of all the compromises they make.

I totally reject the idea that we shouldn't or can't pursue left wing g goals. Calling it naive is exactly why the right has this type of stranglehold on the country. They have created this myth that only extreme right ideas will have support and the only way to fight that is through centrist moderation. It's called creating a false dichotomy. I will argue if the left takes a stand and comes up with realistic policy and messaging, it will find a lot more support than you seem to think possible.
Centrist can only win if the people think there is no other route. Complete hogwash.
If centrists win the house and the next presidential election, they will merely add more noise and once again fail to acheive anything substantial. And 6 years from now another right wing populist will win again to make things even worse. How many times do you need to see this before you acknowledge this isn't working?

First you should define what you want to improve.
We have almost full employment, nice grows in economy, huge middle class, the biggest amount of millionares in the world (more that 10 millions), violent crime is reduced 40% in last 25 years, and much more.
And all this achieved regardless and independent from any presidents, reps, dems, and any other government sh..t.
All we need is to continue with Government and politicians who are paralyzed enough to not be able to screw the life of American people who know very well how to prosper without any government involved.
Government should help sick, elderly, orphans, disabled, and other people who cannot support themselves and this about it. The rest is up to every person to make it.
Leftism produces only dictatorship, corruption, and misery. This is proven over and over again so many times already with same horrendous results that it is mind bugging some people still believe in this ideas.

The Constitution straightforwardly prohibits taking gifts, offices, or titles from any foreign power (without the consent of Congress). After all, you don't want a stooge of a foreign power in the highest office in the land. But Trump has no shame whatsoever. In fact, it's perfectly in keeping with his long career of blatantly violating the law, getting caught, and then paying a wrist-slap fine. As Matt Yglesias writes at Vox:

[Trump] is entirely emblematic of America's post-Reagan treatment of business regulation. What a wealthy and powerful person faced with a legal impediment to moneymaking is supposed to do is work with a lawyer to devise clever means of subverting the purpose of the law. If you end up getting caught, the attempted subversion will be construed as a mitigating (it's a gray area!) rather than aggravating factor. Your punishment will probably be light and will certainly not involve anything more than money. [Vox]

Punishment of white-collar and elite crime has been declining for decades. Whereas over 1,000 people were convicted of major felonies as a result of the savings and loan collapse in the 1980s, only a couple wrongdoers were even prosecuted as a result of the 2008 financial crisis. That despite the fact that journalists and private citizens — with no subpoena power — easily found the crisis was underpinned in part by mortgage fraud on an industrial scale. The best that could be mustered for that transgression and many other crimes — including money laundering for drug cartels and terrorists, tax evasion, and market rigging — were minor fines that often were paid by shareholders, not the culprits.

Why? Because, as then-Attorney General Eric Holder said in 2013, many financial businesses have become so big that it's "difficult for us to prosecute them."

Another factor that exacerbates this problem is the psychotic viciousness of the American criminal justice system towards people who aren't members of the elite. If you're a poor person who commits some minor crime, you can expect the prosecutor to try to force a guilty plea by keeping you in jail with a massive bail requirement, or by stacking up enormous charges to threaten you with decades in prison. But if you're former CIA boss David Petraeus and you leak code word-classified documents to your mistress, you can expect a kid-glove plea bargain for a little probation.

All this badly erodes the public confidence in America's national institutions. If it seems like the game is rigged, that's because it is.

Stop allowing money to be the difference between accountability. Reverse this and have them punished even more severe. This will attempt to change the culture of money over morals.

Trump’s screen-to-screen exposure during the campaign provided bait to capture advertisers’ most coveted product: our attention. To keep our attention, media must entertain us. And Trump delivered—especially for media’s bottom line. As CBS CEO Leslie Moonves infamously stated: “[Trump’s candidacy] may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.”

Such brazen venality is endemic throughout the news industry. With its impoverished public broadcasting, the US media system stands out among democracies for its commercial excesses. Many sectors are dominated by corporate oligopolies, producing content with few public interest protections. Is this the system Americans wanted?

To keep our attention, media must entertain us. And Trump delivered—especially for media’s bottom line.

History suggests otherwise. As my book America’s Battle for Media Democracy documents, the US media system didn’t emerge solely according to democratic criteria and public consensus. It arose instead from policy battles between activists, industries, and regulators over the media system’s fundamental design. Ultimately commercial interests, shielded by what I call “corporate libertarianism,” prevailed over a social democratic vision that privileged educational fare, public service news, and other types of media not supported by the market. We must reclaim this road not taken and de-commercialize our news media.

3. Upbringing - In the U.S., college is the only encouraged way to go. However, in India, many don’t have the opportunity to obtain a degree and they must come up with other solutions. At the end of the day, the goal is to grow in the world - no matter what the path. Kids are encouraged to be entrepreneurial and often join family businesses or start something in their community. When and if they do join larger organizations, they bring the spirit of entrepreneurship with them.

Despite accounting for only about 13 percent of the population, immigrants now start more than a quarter of new businesses in this country. Fast-growing ones, too--more than 20 percent of the 2014 Inc. 500 CEOs are immigrants. Immigrant-owned businesses pay an estimated $126 billion in wages per year, employing 1 in 10 Americans who work for private companies. In 2010, immigrant-owned businesses generated more than $775 billion in sales. If immigrant America were a stock, you'd be an idiot not to buy it.

Most business schools are really corporate schools. Management is about corporate management. Marketing focuses on corporate marketing. Finance focuses on corporate finance. Operations focuses on corporate operations. Leadership focuses on corporate leadership. They are corporate-business schools, not business schools.

Entrepreneurship is a stepchild. Business schools often think of entrepreneurship as a nuisance because many business faculty don't think that entrepreneurship is a field worthy of theoretical study. But they cannot get rid of it because successful entrepreneurs have been among the most generous benefactors of business schools, and students want to learn entrepreneurship. So business schools are caught in a trap. They cannot eliminate entrepreneurship, nor do they want to give it the importance it deserves.

So entrepreneurship has been marginalized and is usually a small part of the management department. I have yet to really understand why a home in the management department is the best arrangement. Actually the management department may be the worst fit since entrepreneurship is practical. Is this shotgun wedding for the benefit of entrepreneurship, management, or the business schools?

The reality is that entrepreneurship involves more than management. It is a different way, and different stage, of doing business. To succeed in new businesses, entrepreneurship students also need to know more than just management.

https://www.businessinsider.com/most-us-...

After analyzing data from high schools representing over 85% of all students, the main conclusions of the study were as follows:

Only 16.4% of U.S. students are required to take a personal finance course to graduate high school.
Five states do have a personal finance requirement: Alabama, Missouri, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia.
But outside of these states, the proportion of students with a personal finance requirement drops to 8.6%.
Meanwhile, only 5.5% of low income schools (outside of mandate states) have personal finance as a requirement.

America needs to do a better job of grooming entrepreneurs and fiscally responsible individuals over grooming robots whose purpose is to make other people money. While demanding that you be exceptional to break free.

I guess this is what I am trying to do.
Democracy in its clean form is the perfect tool to oppress minorities of any kind, as in democracy majority (crowd) rules.
Only power of Law which is the base of the Republic can protect minorities and individuals from the power of the majority and from the power of State.
Any attempt to establish generic Democracy like communism, socialism, religious states, Arab springs, fascism, majority state Empires and nationalistic states, all resulted in dictatorship, oppression of minorities, racial, religions, and national cleansing, and finally genocide. How minorities can get behind this deadly for them ideas is beyond my understanding.
With Trump we can clearly see that with all his bravado he cannot change the Law even a bit. President of US is just an administrator.
He can do OK or do badly. But at the end of the day presidents and administrations come and go but Republic, Constitution, and the rule of Law persist.
This is all I care about and as majority of Americans will fight for.

The reality is that entrepreneurship involves more than management. It is a different way, and different stage, of doing business. To succeed in new businesses, entrepreneurship students also need to know more than just management.

Arkrud's world view is that he is wealthy and it's his constitutional right. It's governments obligation to let him acquire more wealth at the expense of others and to protect his wealth at all costs. And it's really the core belief system of a Teump voter. It shows how well this right wing propaganda works. Him and his type honestly believe the whole world is trying to take their precious money. What's really weird is that this mindset even happens to people who have very little actual wealth. Not saying Arkrud is or isn't wealthy, I have no way to know, nor do I give a shit. But Republicans have created this paranoia that you can see in every one of his posts.

He will openly tell you it doesn't matter if global warming destroys the earth and makes it uninhabitable for the next generation or their kids as long as he gets to keep his money. THIS is the success of the GOP. This type is paranoia exists in all their base voters. And I am using global warming as an example it applies to everything that requires the country to make progress, only thing the dark empty selfish clods will support is status quo. ALL he/they care about is preservation of their real or imaginary wealth. These people are totally devoid of a value system, critical thinking or decision making, the paranoia just Trumps all of that.

We have to increase the wealth but we also need to control our desires.
Desires are unlimited but our abilities and the resources of the planet are limited.

You again talk about me not about the subject.
I am not at all important.
Just some human which life is short spark in the magnanimity of creation.
Money is just a little and insignificant part of wealth.
The real wealth we have is knowledge, culture, and love.
The ideologies you are advocating for tend to destroy all this wealth and are determent to our grows as civilization.
Talking about global warming, it is the result of us as civilization having less wealth that we need to satisfy our desires without destroying our planet.
We have to increase the wealth but we also need to control our desires.
Desires are unlimited but our abilities and the resources of the planet are limited.
So instead of pointing finders on each other we need to look at our-self and try to give to the world and others more that we take.
This does not require any politics and politicians to be around. We have all we need in our hands to accomplish this.

I am yet to see you post something substantive that I can address. And I am not proposing an ideology. I am making observations based on hard science and data. And in multiple discussions in the past with you, I have backed up my observations with both. You are yet to back up any of your claims and so they end up sounding hollow and fairly ridiculous.

Paranoia and right wing propaganda does not make you knowledgeable, I am sorry to break this to you.

No problems.
I do not believe is statistics.
You can turn them any way you want.
I value spiritual and cultural values and consider them more important and powerful comparing to material stuff.
People want to be happy and money can help but very little.
Not sure what anything I said has to do with "Paranoia and right wing propaganda".

At the end of the day, the goal is to grow in the world - no matter what the path. Kids are encouraged to be entrepreneurial and often join family businesses or start something in their community.

You seems to have Paranoia about everything but it is your problem not my.

You want government to be paralyzed so they can't do anything because you choose not to believe the very real data about the incredible harm rTrump and teh GOP are doing to the country and the human condition in general? And you are not sure what this has to do with paranoia and right wing propaganda? There really isn't anything for us to discuss, clearly we don't even agree onthe basic meaning of words. And then again I don't think "mind bugging" is a word but given it's coming from a supporter of a guy who says "bigly" on national TV - I guess can look past that.

We do not need to agree on anything.
In fact I will fight for you to be able to have your opinion heard as well as any others.

They have an agenda to destroy life, all of it for short term personal gains. The motherfuckers know global warming is man made and getting worse but they don't care. They are basically destroying what little chance this planet has to survive. The other real threat is nuclear warfare and the fascist fukk in the white house keeps escalating that.

Forget Russia, focus on the real problem.

We have meddled in Govt.of other countries including Russia throughout our entire history. This self righteous outrage feels a little empty because it's built on a standard of hypocrisy. I am not condoning collusion but the damage is done and even now there's zero hard data showing any real impact on the election outcome. But centrists can't stop talking about Russia because for the weak it's yet another reason to stick their heads in the sand. Unite against centrism before its too late. They have delivered a lot of noise and distraction and nothing of substance, ever.

You don't have to choose between two corrupt and morally empty options. America can do better, a lot better.

If Trump is connected to Mobs (and he very well can be) he will not be the first American president like that and not the last one.
Being connected to anything is not a crime until court of law has a verdict.
Putin is the head of all Russian mobs but he is not a mobster himself but high ranking KGB officer.
Does it makes him less of the president supported by 85% of Russian population?
There is no better protection from people like that rather that term limitations for president and independent courts, lawmakers, and press.
This what we still have in America and hopefully will continue to enjoy despite what various left and right wing totalitarians want.

Human nature cannot be changed. It can only be taken into account to better handle it for societal gains.
Human societies have lows of behavior same as any other lows of nature.
We cannot change them but can understand them and use to our advantage.
