I read elsewhere that Russell Westbrook might be traded - I'd rather go after him than KAT.

Are you not a fan of Westbrook?

I'm just saying if I am going to gut my roster and assets, adding Westbrook to what is left leaves us more competitive, IMHO, than KAT.

I do neither, keep focused on trying to build, pursue AD this summer, Giannis the year after, and all the while, I try to continue to make smart moves and draft good players.

I was a big fan of Westbrook but age and contract are bad- it would be madness to take on his contract (as I said on another thread he's due $47mil at the age of 34 in 2022-23).

stanleybostitch @ 12/27/2019 1:17 PM
We need to keep building, the only two players who I want would come thru free agency - AD and Giannis. Other than them, no starphucking.

I did not realize that KAT is so terrible on D. In that case Mitch is not a good comparison. More like Randle is KAT lite. Score from the post and shoot the 3, rebounds and assists. Little D. Yeah, seems like we have a player with similar contributions on the team already. That's without eating our cap space for years to come with little to show in the win column. So a big effin no to KAT. Rather develop Mitch and keep the rebuild goin.

KAT shoots 60% from 2 and 42% from 3. Comparing him to Randle is like comparing Iso Zo to Harden. Also, KAT is doing this with crap point guard play. They've had to play Wiggins at PG for stretches. This trade will never happen, but KAT can carry an offense. We're still hoping Mitch will one day carry a defense. Also, KAT has been banged up and missed some games during that losing streak.

Nalod @ 12/27/2019 4:13 PM
Randle Looked like a star the other night!!!!
Some of you are thowing some damn big assets to land KAT in theory. First off can't send them 3-4 players as they don't roster space.
Two number ones and an unprotected?
KAt is a fine player, but I protect any pick because you can be sending the next transformative super duper star if you give up an unprotected. You protect is no less then then top three.
Look at us drooling like the desperate starphuchers we are starving for something to be hopeful. KAT is a good Al Horford in his prime without the good defense.
I give them Randle who is about 2/3rds KAT, Mitch, and DSjr and the Dallas picks. That's a damn nice haul. KAT might be better as a 4. If so I 'll give them a protected 3 1st rounder and Keep Mitch. I keep frank just to piss off the Rainman.

Smith, Randle, and both Dallas picks. I think that's fair. I wouldn't give up Mitch.

KAT, Barrett, and Mitch plus a good pick this year could amount to a playoff team in 2 years with a chance to win a playoff series in 2023.

After 2 decades of predominantly dismal basketball that might be the best we can ever hope for

Agree with not starphucking. Think Westbrook, CP3 or anyone, else with a ridoculous salary would be
reason to turn our backs on our Knicks.

As for AD and Freak, no way they leave their situations. Specially for the Knicks. If anyone is listening, NO top players are dumb enough to want to come here. Only guys with mediocre talent that want to get paid and looking for Dolan's wallet.

Hoping we keep Morris and extend him and feel Randle has turned the corner. Other than those two, Mitch and RJ, everyone else can be used to get better assets.

I think waiting for Greek Freak is smarter then trading for KAT or Westbrook..... and waiting on Giannis is not smart at all.

The Greek Freak, when he's ready for a whellchair, will definitely be looking for a Knicks contract.

Knicks FO.
Trade Porzingis for peanuts.
Then use those peanuts and trade a lot more for a player who impact wise is pretty much the same as Porzingis (when you factor defense).

KAT will lead your team nowhere, you will still need a first option guard. What is the Knicks plan for that? If they can get that all-star level first option guard, then KAT as your second option, that is a playoff team in the East.

I am for the trade, but it's laughable what their plan is. They will not get KAT cheap. Paul George cost 5 draft picks. The pay off for KAT will be huge. And defensively you do not improve.

They're better off just waiting for some luck in the draft then giving up all the assets it will require to get KAT. Trust me, he won't come cheap. You're talking Mitch, RJB, and some picks.

I don't have a problem including Barrett in a trade. The more I watch him the less I believe in him. He is a Terrible shooter. He can't finish at the rim. His value will only get worse from here. I would rather trade him than our lottery pick this year. I think Barrett will be a solid pro I'm thinking Rodney Hood maybe Batum. Horrible value for the 3rd pick. Knicks just have awful luck on top of a horrible front office and coaching staff

I wouldn't call it horrible value at the third considering the overall talent of the last draft. RJ probably still goes no later than 5 in a redraft. I'm higher on RJ, but I agree that trade talks shouldn't stop when his name is mentioned. And no Zingis, KAT is better than Kristaps, no matter what mental gymnastics you try to use to convince yourself. KAT is better than Kristaps. Jokic is better than Kristaps. Embiid is better than Kristaps. Siakam is better than Kristaps. Any of those guys would be upgrades.

On offense KAT, Jokic and Embiid are better. On defense, Kristaps is elite, second only to Anthony Davis in what he can do for a team on the defensive end. How do you think the Mavericks won 2 games without Luka, and they cover for Luka on defense?

Anyway I agree with you, that it is an upgrade. What I am saying is that the amount it will cost the Knicks, in my opinion, will be ridiculous when you think back about what they got back for Kristaps. They got back Smith Jr and two picks. This trade will cost them that, plus Mitch and Barrett, and taking on a bad contract. If it even happens. Look at the trade return for the Anthony Davis deal, and the Paul George deal. While KAT is not on par with Anthony Davis, he will command that much talent in return to get the Wolves to accept a deal because he is on a 4 year contract after this year, so you have his services for a guaranteed 4 years. The Wolves will get a lot for him. Similar to what Pelicans gave up for Anthony Davis.

They also got a lot of cap space. That didn’t workout the way they planned but moving on from Lee and Tim’s deals was a big part of that trade.
