I see it as:
PG - that isn't on the roster or Frank
SG - RJ
SF - someone that isn't on the roster or Toppin
PF - Randle
C - Mitch
I think Toppin is a PF long term but I think he has enough range and is athletic enough to handle SF if necessary. Not ideal but he did shoot 39% from three last year so he has enough range to keep em honest.
For me the knicks are starting to look like a team thats assembling a young promising core with Mitch, OB1 and RJ on board. And if what knox's agent says is true that Knox is ready to take a big step this coming season, it will be an entertaining season ahead.
Don't forget about this guy.

2- RJ
3- Knox

Make RJ and Frank lead.
that line up is not even worth discussing, lets just say everyone will be fired within 12 months
What if we can flip Randle and DSJ for Rozier and Monk then sign Joe harris in free agency. Can this be a competitive starting 5?
Mitch
OB1
harris
RJ
Rozier
I think i like this line up, a good mix or something offense and defense.

Joe Harris would be my #1 target, but I think the Nets will try to keep him. they need him to hit all the open shots he'll see

I think none of the guys listed besides maybe RJ will be starting. Do not think Rose came here with the expectations of starting that line up. Think there are still trades to be made and free agents to be signed. I can see the possibility that Toppin, Mitch and Frank are coming of the bench. Quickley may not even be in the rotation. (Bullock, Dotson) Especially with TT. Who loves vets. Do not think this will be the same rebuilding mentality as previous years. Young guys wont get "Experience" minutes.
a while back there was a rumor about Kuzma. one can only hope LBJ still likes DSJ and someone else for him?
we might be able to get ROzier from CHarlotte and i imagine he can contribute. I cannot imagine they want another pg in a package back though
also sacramento just picked Halliburton. have to imagine they see him now as some combo guard with Fox. does this portent Hield being available for a reasonable price?

So this is the roster currently that can get turned over. The depth chart aspect of it is a bit arbitrary. Didn’t really solve the floor spacing issue yet. Quikley could help with that, but it is unclear how NBA ready he is.
I could see them making a move on some of the Kentucky guys in a reclamation project. Willie Cauley Stein, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and D’aaron Fox stand out and should be relatively decent contracts.
Updated after today's culling.
DSJ/IQ/Harper
Barrett/FN/Powell
Bullock/Knox
Randle/Toppin
Robinson
I can't understand why we didn't see it more the last few years but man I'd love to see a lot more pick and roll with Toppin and Robinson.

It’s all about having the right PG and the Knicks haven’t had that

I could also see Frank at the 1 and IQ at the 2. Highlights I've seen show Quickly excelling as a spot up shooter. Boy he has a smooth stroke.
Frank,IQ
Rj, Beasley
Haywood, Knox
Toppin, Melo
Mitch, Davis

In theory, Quikley as a 3/D PG slots real well next to RJ who can handle the ball handling. Can definitely see him getting some run as a 2 though.

Melo instead of Randle....
Got this from another site, but made me think. Do we have a good enough base to add Westbrook and Hayward and make noise on the east?
PG. Westbrook / quickley
SG. Bullock / Westbrook
SF. RJ / Hayward
PF. Hayward / Toppin
C. Mitch / Davis
I like this....but I would swap Hayward for Melo. And use the remaining cap space on 1 yr deals.....
Thoughts
And Toppin needs to develop a Charles Oakley jumper, playing next to Mitch.

This confuses me... doesn’t he already have a jumper?

Yes he does. Probably better than Oakley.

Yep....just shows you how much I know about this class of rookies. I did some research and within seconds, said he's the best mid range big in the draft. So I stand correct. Close to a perfect PF next to Mitch.

Knox has to work on his lateral quickness on D. He has potential to be a good offensive player
