Knox has to work on his lateral quickness on D. He has potential to be a good offensive player

So this is the roster currently that can get turned over. The depth chart aspect of it is a bit arbitrary. Didn’t really solve the floor spacing issue yet. Quikley could help with that, but it is unclear how NBA ready he is.
I could see them making a move on some of the Kentucky guys in a reclamation project. Willie Cauley Stein, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and D’aaron Fox stand out and should be relatively decent contracts.
Updated after today's culling.

Oh my God please no DSJ. He shouldn’t be in the rotation let alone starting. I guess Rose hasn’t been able to sucker anyone into a trade yet

You will see a ton of that this year

I could also see Frank at the 1 and IQ at the 2. Highlights I've seen show Quickly excelling as a spot up shooter. Boy he has a smooth stroke.
In theory, Quikley as a 3/D PG slots real well next to RJ who can handle the ball handling. Can definitely see him getting some run as a 2 though.
Quickley is really a 2. That’s why he was so underrated in the draft he has PG size but SG skills. That’s fine though we have RJ and Frank to run point. Quickly can still guard the opposing PG on defense

This confuses me... doesn’t he already have a jumper?
Toppin is already a better shooter than Oak and I love Oak. I met him at the Shop Rite in Palisades Park, NJ he couldn’t have been a nicer guy
Right now I’m seeing 1 of 2 lineups possibly happening when it’s all said and done:
1: C Mitch PF Toppin SF Barrett SG Bullock PG VanVleet
2: C Mitch PF Toppin SF Hayward SG Barrett PG Augustin

I’d give him a fresh look in camp. He was having back issues. Not a great long term indicator, but I’m interested in seeing if he has recovered a bit.
I think its more like:
PG- Frank/DSJ/Quickley/Powell
SG- RJ/Quickley
SF- Gordon Hayward- they will get him if the rumors are true that they are going after him hard in FA.
PF- Obi
C- Mitch
But the truth is we really don't know yet b/c we don't know who will be on the roster.

I'm not sure about Augustin but I agree that the starting PG may not be on the roster yet, but for now its Frank. I also heard Quickley was a PG his whole life until he got to Kentucky, so he def. has those skills, but there's no way he will be able to come in and start. I think if the rumors are true Hayward will end up a Knick. I also think the Knicks will try to dump Randle ASAP and they will truly give Knox another shot.
As of right now this is what it looks like to me:
1: C Mitch PF Toppin SF Knox SG Barrett/Quickley PG Frank
2: C Mitch PF Toppin SF Hayward/Knox SG Barrett/Quikley PG Frank
Quickly could be the PG of the future. As said he was one and at his height that could be where he tilts to going forward.
so much will change with this roster the next 48 hours.

Quickley is the x-factor here no doubt. He's a true combo guard, so not sure how the Front office and coaching staff view his role. If they want to put the ball in RJ's hands and add another playmaking wing than Quickley makes a lot of sense as a PG. He reminds me so much of George Hill, who has really made his career as a shooting/secondary playmaking PG around point-forwards.

Yeah i don't think Frank is view as a PG, I think Smith is more likely to get a chance, but I don't see the starting PG for this season being on the roster yet. Long-term Quickley is definitely an option depending on how they view his role.
Kurt thomas jumpshot was way better than Oak lol

If TT's history holds true, he will want a chance at DSJR and Frank. He has been called the "PG whisperer". He did a great job with Rose, DJ Augustine, and CJ Watson, Lucas. Three who had their best years with him. DSJR should fit perfectly in TT's style for PG. Think many are sleeping on his speed in the open court and how he is similar to Rose. He can push the ball and create transition baskets. The addition of Obi to MR running the floor and I can see a fast paced style that would be lots of fun to watch. With RJ and a knock down 3pt shooter at SF, you can also have options if the transition game is not there and you need to produce from the half court set. Also feels he will do the same with Frank. For me, Frank's biggest problem has always been staying aggressive. Think Tom will push Frank to keep the pressure on the defense and push pace.
Think Rose will still make a push at getting Westbrook or another big name PG but think TT is confident he can do something with DSJR and Frank. I will also be surprised if they do not sign Augustine, if a big name is not traded for, as a safety precaution and given the history with TT.

Don't think anyone is sleeping on DSJ. He just looked lethargic and lacked the same energy from previous years. I'll take DSJ seriously if he shows that spark and some mental toughness. For real, you can't shook by Elfrid Payton and expect success. Frank improved his pace under Miller, but I still don't see him as a primary ballhandler, at least not on the first unit.

How about the possibility that Frank may be coming in behind RJ at the 2. Get a stretch 4 and 5 to go along with Knox in the second unit and Agustine/Quickley at point. You can use his defense to make up for lack of with Knox and the stretch players. Also playing him at 2 forces him to be more aggressive. Or.....they could be trading both him and Smith in 5 hours? Lol.
Are we sure Mitch is ready to start...

He has never been a good shooter and he is a horrible defender. Turns the ball over way too much. He’s a homeless man’s Marbury that’s why Rose can’t even give him away

I remember Oak only developing a jumper toward the very end of when he was on the Knicks in 1997
