In January, it was reported that the four-year contract Lionel Messi signed in 2017 was worth a whopping $673.8 million. Messi's annual salary of $168.5 million is believed to be the richest ever paid to an athlete.

I got a $1 off coupon for a 7-11 hot dog, so I’m feeling a bit rich myself.

How will these ring chasers feel when AD and Labronna break down and they don't make it out of the play in again?

I know how I will feel....

Would u rather have those 7 lakers for 15M this year or kemba and rose for 22M?

So really, you're asking me if I'd rather have Kemba and Rose for $22M or Kendrick Nunn for $5M. We're not running a nursing home here and Monk has yet to produce at the level of rookie year IQ. For our needs, Kemba and Rose fit more. But the Knicks could've done a lot with an extra $18M. So the question really is would I rather have Nunn at $5M or Kemba at $8M? I'd rather have Kemba to be honest.

The difference is none of them will be asked to start or carry a majority of the offense. Overall, those were great signings by the Lakers. Ellington, I'm not a fan of and I think Ariza is cook but both Monk and Nunn were steals and if Melo and Howard can perform like they did this past year, the Lakers bench is going to be top notch.

This idiot forgot to mention that the only reason these guys signed those contracts was to ring chase. 29 other teams in the league they are signing market deals.

This happens every year, the team that makes the spashiest move gets all these quality players at minimum sweetheart deals. It is always wherever the biggest superstar moves to. Brooklyn, LA, Clippers....that is why I respect the Bucks. They managed not not do that crap and win. They may or may not win in a normal regular NBA season, but they built a proper team without any of this ring chasing crap.

Luka goes on a tear and the Lakers bring...Melo? Ariza? Tucker? Come playoffs, what's to stop a defender from leaving Westbrook and doubling LeBron? Most of these acquisitions are crap shows waiting to happen. Their Isaiah Knicks level bad. No one wants to say it because it's the Lakers, but let's be real. Tight game and you have Westbrook with the ball in his hands, you feeling confident? Russ is one of the few players in the league who make Elf look like a good shooter. I don't see it with the Lakers this year. The idea of Lakers vs Knicks game where Trevor Ariza is subbed in to stop a RJ got streak is laughable.

Who's diving out of bounds to save a possession? Who's fighting for those 50-50 balls? Who's racing back on D to break up a fast break? If the answer is LeBron,LeBron,LeBron, Lakers will crap out soon. They messed up by replacing Caruso with Monk and Nunn. Lakers defense won them a ring and Caruso was the heart and soul of it. Too bad he doesn't have a more photogenic appearance.

Looks like Markkanen didn't want that deal, presume he does a one year QO with the Bulls then unrestricted FA next offseason? Aparantely the Spurs also wanted to sign and trade for him but he wanted too much money.

Chandler @ 8/6/2021 6:54 AM
That’s a great deal for Charlotte. I wonder if we made an actual offer for him too.

I have a sneaky sense there is buyers remorse for Hayward already and his huge contract

Sounds like Lauri is in denial. Good thing Schröeder is around to take away attention from how much he effed up.

gradyandrew @ 8/6/2021 11:18 AM
Schroeder hasn't done anything to qualify for a 20 million contract. His attitude probably cost him a 10 million contract too. Lakers might even feel nervous about a sign and trade unless they can get back a help now vet.

Have the Clippers done anything this offseason?

Chandler @ 8/6/2021 12:49 PM
SAS has done hardly anything considering how much space they had
