He does have a 6’8.75 wingspan. His shot is currently inconsistent and he is locked behind bigger better PGs. But he could turn around with an injury and get starter minutes in a heartbeat.

The problem plain and simple with McBride is if he doesnt start attacking the rim he's out of the league. He's not a shooter so the 3&D is out. He's not breaking the defense. He's not creating. He plays really hard and is good on defense. That and his athleticism will get you a cup of coffee in the NBA, but if he cant knock down shots or get to the rim he's out of the league

This is spot on. Deuce literally has to do 1 thing in his life to go from earning $2M on a year to year contract to $7M+ for 3 years: Shoot 3points. Like he should be hoisting up a million a day.

But a smart GM understands his defense is top notch and being patient on his offense while his defense continues to be even more elite as he age.

This was to be expected. I saw a Frank N comparison in here. Frank never averaged more than 5 points internationally before we drafted him. He was a classic "project" and a known nonshooter. Deuce led a very good college program and shot very well from 3 and the foul line. He's never played 20 minutes in 4 consecutive NBA games and was never asked to play off-ball before entering the league. I don't think Deuce will ever be able to create the type of rim pressure needed from an NBA facilitator getting big minutes and I question if he can make some passes due to size etc. On the other hand, I don't think there is any reason to believe he wouldn't be 35% or better from 3 with minutes and a consistent role. It's unfortunately, that he is getting the squeeze here. I think he is ready to contribute as 20 min a 20-minute-a-night guy.

I've been screaming to give IQ and Deuce the keys to the car before we got JB. EVEN when both was not ready (which is a common reply). But we are here now, and JB has the keys. IQ and Deuce are now expendable. Not sure how all these guards will get PT (outside of a Grimes injury), but thats why Thibs makes the big bucks.

We all like Deuce. The obvious question is where those 20 minutes would come from. Injuries are the only probable scenario for now. Or a trade involving IQ perhaps. Or one involving Deuce.
If an injury occurs he will get a chance. but he has to perform. He in year three.
I'd like to think if IQ is moved he steps in and up. He won't fill that role, but the team prospers by the assets in such a trade.
This is how you build long term.
Frank got his chances but injury inhibited them. Long term, Frank is in the league but the offense has yet to develop. Its why he is in the fringe.
Knox is showing the offensive chops but remember Thibs wants his players if not shooting well to do other things really good. Its why Obi was exiled.
Its why he stuck with JR and loves Randle. They bring it in other ways. RJ when the shot was awful went to the rim. Randle as point forward at time is growing to a distributer and since we are shooting better this year, his assets are up.
Would love nothing better for Deuce to make IQ expendable for a nice trade. I don't know who wants IQ and will pay him what he wants.

Deuce nailed a cpl 3 balls in the last few games in normal rotational mins. Its not a lot, but its a good sign because he is showing no hesitation in letting unleash in non-garbage time situations. His D continues to be top notch.
