Julius Randle has been here for 3 years now. And never once did NY only score 80 points throughout his previous 3 seasons in NY. OKC: 95.
NYK: 80.
1st game without Julius Randle and we set a 3 year low with only 80 points.
▪︎ For the fans who've told me it's all Julius Randle's fault?
▪︎ For the fans who told me if not for Julius Randle NY would be blowing teams out and destroying teams from start to finish?
▪︎ For the one's who've told us that Coach Thibs favors Julius Randle over Obi Toppin?
▪︎ For the one's who've quit on our 2020 All-Star and ignore his awesome potential at only 27 years old?
▪︎ And for those who've been using him and calling him out as their new NY WHIPPING BOY?
YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.
Obi Toppin:
27 minutes.
5 points.
7 rebounds.
1 assist.
1 turnover.
1/4 from the field (25%).
+/- of -2.
OKC: 95.
NYK: 80.
Not since 2017-2018 (29-53 overall) have we ever watched a Knicks team score anything less than 80 points. But during Randle's 1st game out of the lineup. It happened during game #1.
I've tried telling fans time and time again. For weeks on end. Word for word. How Julius Randle takes all of the game pressure off of his younger teammates (and puts it all on himself).
☆ Leave Julius Randle alone. All-Star talent. Only 27 years of age. Boat load of potential. Takes the pressure off of his pup teammates. Led us to the playoffs as a 4 seed. And wouldn't have not even 5-7 wins this year without him. Tonight? Only 80 points without him. Vs. OKC. Lost by 15.
Man oh man would I hate to see NYK play a team like Chicago without Julius Randle (a player opposing Ds must focus on and game plan against).
I've been very critical of Randle and rightfully so but we are the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic without him.

Yup. Without question.
wait, havent you been proclaiming this the deepest team in ages? and now they are g level minus randle? which is it.
Are you making out with him every night or something? We should be ashamed? Sorry dad.
Julius is going have lot of leverage if this team of young guys go winless .

We lost to the Orlando Magic twice with Randle. Obi had a bad game, but it's still to early for any proclamations. The fact that the Knicks were bad tonight doesn't change the fact Jules has been borderline trash for most of the season.
Hopefully people get off Randle. Giving Toppin real opportunity tonight didn’t accomplish anything positive. His role as a 15 min change of pace is where he thrives.

Um.
During only Randle's 1st game out, NY scores a season low 80 points (been many of YEARS since we last scored fewer than 80 points).
And why?
Because Julius Randle is the All-Star talent who teams have to prepare for, focus on and game plan against.
Julius Randle takes all the pressure off of his younger teammates and puts that pressure on himself. Something that box score watchers are unaware of.

It’s also not that hard to plan around him. He generally beats himself.

And that's against the Thunder, who have one of the worst defenses in the league ,they have the ,6th worst defensive rating in the league to be exact.
Wait so Randle not being on the court was why no one on the entire roster could hit from 3 last night? Mind blown.

You are wrong and quite frankly the whole thread is dishonest.
This was the first game Randle was out AND the team was without both their starting PG and their backup PG. Their backup C was also out and when healthy he is the Knicks' starting C.
If you are going to make a statement, do it without shading everything. You won't be taken seriously if you don't.

Are you aware that Julius had one single winning season his entire career?

The question is also this julius has 1 winning season how many season have knicks won previous 7 years none with or without julius.
Randle is the best player and the main player teams game plan for. It’s only natural to point at the best player, when the team is struggling and he’s not playing up to expectations. That’s why him and other star players on any team get paid the big bucks. With that payment comes expectations and scrutiny. Especially when the star player is learning on the job. B4 NY Randle was the 2nd or 3rd option on any team ever. Relax. Randle is exactly what you see.
This is simple for the FO. U either build around him or you replace him with a different star. We currently don’t have an up and coming star player that’s ready right now. That’s what 1 game w/o Randle showed us. He needs help. Or we remove him and start over for the 100th time.
Speaking of passing judgement over 1 game. That’s a dangerous game to play. Several players in the hall of fame or like dirk who’s on his way, had terrible games during their career. Some had terrible seasons. So be carful on making decisions on a small sample size.

It's not the perfect analogy or scenario but the Knicks are in that same space as Phoenix is before CP3 got to the Suns. The Suns top 3 guys are obviously much more skilled/talented. They had Booker, Ayton and Bridges with Payne off the bench. Oubre and Saric and Rubio are their next tier. That teams last iteration before CP3 was 34 wins. The year before that they had 19 wins (and drafted Ayton, Bridges).
The Knicks need a CP3 type. Not necessarily a PG but an Alpha.

I agree. An alpha likely makes everyone on the team better. My general issue however is with the fans constantly calling Randle "trash". There are examples in this very thread.
