RJ down hill feeds then create from the elbow.
Randle as well.
We see last seasons iso ball and can’t fathom how they will do. Are you serious? Life will be easier for them.
But but….will randle accept it? Hope he does. I have not spoken with him. Has anyone here who speaks for him?
No huh?
Randle list of grievances:
1 Complains to the ref to much and not back on defense.
2 Did not help up players once.
3.did not like booing.
4. Did not like assistant coach tried to show him something on laptop.
5. Slammed ball after nice win in chicago. Fans hated that. He did not play remaining games as per injury report.
What am I missing? Lockerroom cancer? Did not see that. Seems yoot was just fine.
Holds ball too much. Was there any change thru the season? Or the indelible melo comps engrained in our minds?
His 3pt % was not elite like year before. True. not sure that comes all the way back.
He forces too many shots. I agree, seemed to have easier looks season below.
Looks off balance when shooting vs magical year before.
Got frustrated with injuries. Was that on team or him?
HIs contact is god awful. Will make 23mil this year. Subjective to fans reading comprehension and math skills.
We better off trading him. could be correct. What is the deal?
“We need another star”. no shit. RJ says “Hey, im right here!” Need a jury verdict for that? Ok. He been here 3 yeears which for Bing Bongers in dog years is like 5. Im ok with finding out. I don’t need sure things to move forward.

The biggest difference btw this year and last year was not having Rose. We lost a lot of tough games last year because of our PG position and Thibs playing way to many veterans.
We are switching out Kemba for a guy that averaged 26pts in the playoffs and is the hardest worker in the room and a class act exceptional teammate. Rose comes off the bench with IQ, Grimes, Obi, Simms and Isiah, this year will be very different.
It’s a good move, we still have 11 picks and three young players people want.
I think we win 50 games next year no problem.

Bold call and yet not unreasonable either IMHO

D. Rose not being out for long stretches, could get us there. Thats where faith comes in, lol. Rose as a distibutor off the bench, setting up the yoots, that would play a big part in 50 wins. Unless Quickley's PG game has taken the next step.

I dunno. Walker/Fournier destroyed my confidence in the starting lineup. I can see Brunson is better than Walker, but I don’t know if the defense improves. The floor spacing is pretty shoddy right now. With no fans in the stadium the boys could shoot. With fans back, they are back to average.
Even looking at the East, I mean Boston, Milwaukee, Miami, Philly, Atlanta all look solid. I’d trade rosters with Chicago, Toronto or Cleveland in a heartbeat. We are probably right here or so. Orlando and Detroit are young but their rosters really improving. Nets are being dismantled but they still may end up with a better roster than us. Washington is getting Beal back, they were better than us last season without Beal. Charlotte should be worse for wear losing Miles Bridges. Indiana is in flux might put them closer to Orlando/Detroit category as they enter their re-build.
I mean, I don’t see us as more than a play in team. 50 wins means that the starting lineup actually has a net positive Plus Minus.
I don’t see it.

How many games did Kemba start? Not that many. Respect Kemba's career, but he was pretty much washed in NY. Bad enough to have Burks running the point. Gave it his best shot, but he isnt a PG.
We also had Randle and his underwhelming season. I expect Randle to at least play better than last season.
We should have better ball movement with Brunson. Other teams respect his inside game so they will have more on their plate than worrying about defending the perimeter. Mitch will have a starting PG who shouldnt miss a lot of games like Rose has. Build some chemistry.

1) Why do you think 21/22 was abnormal and 20/21 was real? Every sign points to the exact opposite, that 20/21 was the outlier. Statistically, 20/21 out his career averages to shame. Then in 21/22 he regressed to the mean. I am looking for a reason that he will so better than 21/22. Are we playing without fans in the stands again? He took took a breather in 21/22 cause he got a contract, but is ready to work again? It’s possible he does better. If I saw a good fit with Brunson I would agree, I am having a hard time seeing it. Looks like we are paying CAA clients that can’t get paid on their own while watching the CAA superstars get super max contracts elsewhere.
The thought was with the WWW/Kentucky/CAA connections we would have back channeled access to talent. So far, we got a few former Kentucky guys for GLeague play, Oni Toppin and Jalen Brunson. I see how it helps Rose son, but not how the team has progressed.
Not a huge fan of the offseason. Hart looks interesting in his limited minutes. A lot to like there. But I don’t think the Knicks have moved the needle. Unfortunately, I see it as losing the 11 pick for the right to overpay Brunson. Maybe something magic happens or Brunson’s upside earns out that contract. Maybe every player from and after 11 (including Tari Eason) will be terrible. I think we mangled this offseason to get Leon’s kid a slightly bigger commission.

I dont expect Randle to replicate the success he had his contract year, but I expect him to come back in better shape, play better, which had a role in his breakout year. Also, with Brunson likely taking a leadership role, I dont see Randle being so moody and tempermental this season. Doesnt have the same pressure to carry the team (after his new deal) which he did in 21/22
It wasnt likely that we were going to vault to contender status in one off-season. First 2 seasons, the FO stockpiled draft picks, made moves to stay competitive, until they found an FA who could change the direction of the team. Knicks havent had a starting PG this good in many years. Thats been an issue forever. We would get PGs who couldnt produce for more than a season, maybe not even that.
Rose could have gone the classic Knicks route and immediately signed an aging star to a ridiculous contract. Rose is also a long time Knicks fan. He knows where that leads to...cap hell.
The FO has done a great job of not putting us in cap hell with bad, long term contracts. That started with Perry, and continued when Rose took over. This is a disciplined FO. First season with Brunson will be about him establishing himself as the leader of this team, Seeing how far they get this season. In the offseason they can use their treasure trove of picks to move up in a double draft. Clear out cap space for another star. Brunson just got here. Looking forward to seeing where he will lead the team.

If you look at any of the assist based stats, we are among the worst in the league. We brought in another ISO-Scorer and assume that that solves the lack of passing in the starting lineup. It makes very little logical sense.

For me, they’ve added the type of ISO scorer that every team needs and one that the Knicks did not have: when your offense has stalled (or end of clock, end of game situations), give the ball to that guy and get out of his way. More importantly, you also get a guy who demands the ball so that he can orchestrate the offense, a floor general; it also keeps the ball out of RJ and Randles hands in those same situations for which the don’t execute very well.
Brunson is a connector, floor general who ALSO and secondarily - break out in time for emergency - is an ISO guy.

Is Brunson not going to be one of if not the best passer on this roster?

Need more willing passers. He only gets to pass the ball once per possession unless the others pass also.

I agree with the clock running down I would rather have Brunson creating that last shot. With a .568 eFG, I think he will be the most effective player on the roster at scoring.
My point is that he alone doesn’t fix the other problems with the roster. Ball movement alone could though. Or swapping Fournier out for a long 3&D small forward and moving Barrett back to SG. With that move, I could see Randle and Barrett with another year with Brunson before crying gloom and doom.
I’m a little crazy, but I would have been happy with a lineup of IQ Barrett Griffin Toppin Robinson. On offense, Brunson is better than IQ, but I think that team works better on paper.
So, for now, I’m not that impressed with the offseason.

We also have Grimes and Reddish, one of whom will eventually take the starting role. There’s no way Fournier starts with Brunson and RJ. I think a proper PG will allow for better ball movement.
IQ Barrett Griffin Toppin dosent make us a better passing or defending team. I don’t even think Griffiin should have gone as high as he did.

If all are healthy those are our starters. Fournier fits with Brunson like a glove. Remember, Brunson played PnR in 1in4 out offense. The better those other 4 can shoot- the more efficient the offense. Brunson should pick up right where he left off, penetrating and devastating. Sometimes with an assist for a 3 ball. Fournier can really shoot it so I think it should work.
