Knicks · Fire Thibs (page 74)

“I think once you have a label, it’s hard to shed that label,” Josh Hart said after practice Monday. “This whole, I don’t want to call it a run because it’s two series, but those two series [against the Pistons and Celtics], he showed that he’s willing to adapt, he’s willing to change, he’s willing to do different things than he’s used to. Obviously, that’s a willingness on his end, the trust and belief in his players.

Sounds like Josh hart. Preach brother. 1000% true about labels. Big props to Thibs for bringing that 90s defensive culture / mindset to the Knicks and expanding his offense to fit the players. Letting their defensive energy dictate their playing time. And learning how to win with a team that has no inside presence in towns. I see you Thibs.

Now Thibs has yet another adjustment to make. The good news is game 6 sets a new baseline. Communicate on defense and let that drive the offense. That switch on defense instead of drop coverage was huge. LETS GO

Knicks were 1-7 vs Detroit and Boston during the regular season.
It was reasonable to feel queasy about the playoffs.
The thrill is not beating an easy opponent but doing the unexpected! Enjoy the ride boys!!

I think your account is hacked. Sounds like AI or chatGPT cut and paste. 😂

Which opponent was easy?

Some wanted us to drop to play Milwaukee. We were 1-3 vs. Detroit.
We were 0-4 vs. Celtic. Was beating Boston not a thrill?
Many were really stressed out about playoffs and not happy with Thibs.

Yep, Thibs has upped his game, the training staff helped Thibs do his thing, and now we're in the ECF!

There were things I wanted to see from Thibs as a fan for him to remain the coach beyond this season. He's checked most of those boxes in the playoffs. Glad there will be some continuity next season, and hopefully a deeper bench.

Im guessing the first ECF in 25 years gets Thibs another season win or lose. Leon has stuck with Thibs this long, through thick and thin. Dont believe Rose is going to bail on him now.

This gent Thibs.. is only pro Coach in pro Sports which
GOT WORSE AS HE HELD A LEAD COACH JOB.

Face it, the ability to adapt and make a difference won't lie in THIBs
There is time to make adjustments, but what's the point? A defender defensive speciality coach can't get a KNICK to hold
a HOT Jump shooter from making three's but foul Dude to go to FT line to shoot free throws to change momentum of known
HOT offensive player.

THIBS wasted the game tonight! if HE was so GREAT Defender specialist he'd figure something out to change pace then desperate Indy PACEMAKER team. Hate that team! I am embarrassed cause as Roman Catholic I live not to hate. SERIEs ain't over yet but PACER history always hated Knicks, unless NYKnickerbockers has 911 turnaround, WE will have tough time for INDY organization not to prevail.

Until Coach Tom THIBs makes a difference
#HORRIBLE
#DISAPPOINTED

buffoonary all over this, 12,14 point lead with specialty Coach of Pro defense LOOKs so bad to make chance OR try to do things
THIBs is incapable of so far in NBA of showing Knicks fan anything different!

JOKE how we lost this game tonight. LOOK NO FURTHER THAN MR NYK COACH again can't stop the bleeding, even a bit.
Disgusted, Let T. Haliburton do that "CHOKE" Crap in our place on bounces of ball instead of foul.

Thank God I missed most of this game. But I watched that lead balloon to double digits when deuce was in the game. I left and came back, the game was as tied OT.

So without seeing the entire game, based on UK fan reactions, post team analysis….This looks like it’s on Thibs. Hes in control of bringing JB back too soon. Not playing deuce more. In bounds look sloppy (fatigue). Yes FTs missed, OG looked off, JB TOs, etc……but at the end of the day, you have to adapt quicker Thibs to one player hitting all those 3s. And known for defense more than head coach. I would expect the defense to be better in crunch time by playing your defensive players.

JB is an average to below average defender. With 5 fouls???? He’s instantly a defensive liability. Yet Thibs brought in JB too early. Sometimes even JB needs to sit and allow deuce and a defensive lineup (Mitch), come in and change the momentum.

Need delon wright………deuce combo. But we go as far as OG and deuce takes us. And coach has to make changes to rotation.

EwingsGlass @ 5/22/2025 12:47 AM
Garden was electric. Team was fired up on that run. Look at the sequence around 4:14 on the play by play. The team gets caught up in the motion and plays at the Pacers pace. The starters missed their free throws. They burnt out. We Celtic’s ourselves. Gotta take one back on Friday. I haven’t seen a 59 second performance like Neismiths in my life.
GustavBahler @ 5/22/2025 1:08 AM
The TNT crew said that they have a feed of both benches, and some Knicks were on the bench looking exhausted in the 2nd quarter. Don’t know which players but the coaching staff probably does. That would be a much welcome adjustment. This is game one, players were well rested, and already looked spent. Hope it’s as simple as getting their legs back after time off.
ccch @ 5/22/2025 6:38 AM
It's time for Thibs to go...definitely out coached. I am sick of his goofy facial expressions during games...start coaching.

I agree we should see some Delon Wright. Cam is not getting it done as a backup. Bring in Delon to play some great defense, and he probably doesn't shoot worse than Cam either.

ramtour420 @ 5/22/2025 7:34 AM
How does a coach protect a 14 point lead with 2.5 mins left in the game? With a defensive lineup. If that includes Mitch then it's strictly Alley oops for him and let him just play d. No open 3's , would rather them drive for 2 ( Mitch is there) that takes more time off the clock
Chandler @ 5/22/2025 8:02 AM
He needs some better assistants to help in real time — you know like he, himself did when he was w Celtics

No idea what he was thinking when nesmith and other guys were taking open threes — just hoping lead was big enough? It’s not lime pacers, rolled out a secret play. There only way back was to hit threes and get turnovers

He will adjust for next game. It’s the in-game he can benefit from

The funny thing is, is when he did bring Wright in at the end of the 1st half he didn't have wright defend the ball carrier. Hart did, who the Pacer (I forgot who) blew past Hart for a layup. Terrible coaching there.

6) Weird foot fetish comes out publicly and despite coaching competency, ownership doesn’t like the foot jokes in every headline.

Heh. Joking aside he’ll be back. This season is still strong and he has only had one full year with this team. Give management this trade/FA cycle and a full training camp to implement a complete offense and I think we push 60 wins next year. Friday night lights.

GustavBahler @ 5/22/2025 9:35 PM
One stat that struck me last night was hearing that Indy's rotation is 11 deep. Thats a lot of bodies to throw at a tight rotation.

If we were to lose the series, my guess would be that Leon would make it his mission to give the Knicks one of the best benches in the league. Honestly have no idea what he will do with the starting lineup, if anything.

I think Leon will lose his patience if we dont make the Finals next season because Rose's new aquisitions are gathering dust on the bench.
