The question is, how good would OG be alongside of Coach Thibs?

And I think/believe/feel; he'll absolutely flourish.

I think the real question is how much you're willing to give up. IQ? RJ? Grimes? Two unprotected picks? Where do you hold the line?

I would trade Randle before RJ, but it doesnt look like that's going to happen. I have more faith in RJ figuring things out. I knew RJ wouldnt take a benching well. Take him out of the starting lineup, you might as well trade him.

MS @ 2/2/2023 10:51 AM
Don’t think this is the right fit for the team.

If they can get Grimes and IQ with late picks, don’t feel strong about giving them 3 firsts and likely Obi.

I would rather focus on Caruso and Bogdonavic. Bogey is a knock down shooter and with the all isolation we play his versatility would work well with everyone on the roster.

Seems crazy to say but you’re adding another 20 point scorer which would make us elite.

Our clutch number are terrible. This would solve a lot of our issues

You don’t trade 3 firsts for a guy that has injury issues and isn’t an all star.

If Memphis and New Orleans are fighting over OG than it’s tough to beat that. They have much more motivation to get him, and Knicks don’t seem like they would want to deal both good young players and multiple picks.

I'm just going to go ahead and assume Esfandiar is a Raptors beat writer and needs to curry favor with Masai?

Someone tell me I'm wrong

surprised to hear NO. They have Herb Jones (one slot after Rokas -- for those who like to fuss on near misses)

also a bit surprised to hear Memphis. these seem to have a good thing going on with their current roster. Surprised they mess with that chemistry

Herb has been hurt and his shooting has regressed. There are also questions about his future fit to Zion compared to someone like Trey Murphy. I think Herb can be had, but I'm not sure the cost.
Chandler @ 2/2/2023 1:07 PM
^^ thanks for the update. Herb seemed like a real find for them.

i think NO must lead the league in perennially hurt players.

NO doesn't make sense to me with Ingram and Zion on roster? Where does OG fit unless you maybe move Ingram in the deal?

Yeah, there will be no playing time with both Zion and Ingram barrelling through all 80 games

MS @ 2/2/2023 1:25 PM
How about we trade for OG then move Barrett, Obi, Simms for Ingram. That lineup would be a problem.
Nalod @ 2/2/2023 1:30 PM
McCollum
Ingram
Zion
OG
Valachuinas

Salaries aside, they can move Daniels, Jones, murphy and picks. we can Move Obi, Grimes, IQ and picks.
Not all players of course. The rumored three picks would not be just picks. Money has to move for any team unless they are cap friendly.

Where is the blame on the roster? Chemistry?
Nurse is losing his shyt despite his technical goodness? My guess is he survives if roster is fixed.
But what is really broken? Barnes is center? Siakim a black hole? FVV gunning for new contract? Trent too?
OG is bait for another deal?
Take a contrarian view and its Siakim that gets traded?

martin @ 2/2/2023 2:01 PM
I thought we all learned that the lesson is to blame Thibs!

Memphis does make a lot of sense though.

They have no center. OG for a center makes too much sense.

Blame it on......
MDA
Walsh
Melo
Mills
Phil
Mills
The Rain
Kp
Janis
Fiz
Rambis

Ujiri don't get past Philly and to finals were Klay and KD got broken, how "golden" would he be?
They gunning for Webenyana?Scoot? Or trying to get it done the last 30 games?
There back court might opt out and they have no center. They got talent but issues.
I think they sign one.

yessir. Dillon Brooks + Ziare for salary and picks?

djsunyc @ 2/3/2023 12:06 AM
hart + quickly + toppin + reddish for og + birch + flynn

no picks involved.

for raptors: masai isn't a multiple pick acquisition type of guy - if he's trading talent, he's expecting some in return. and the non knicks picks have too much protection to matter. raptors are very thin and this replenishes their bench with young players that can play. very similar to the rudy gay deal back in 2013.

for knicks: keep their picks for other deals. og can play 1-5 defensively (so he can actually spell hartenstein at the backup 5 for some minutes) and with robinson, could possibly propel you to a top 5 defense which is needed in the playoffs. you are really a win now team for the most part. birch can play some spot backup 5 duty.

toppin is really an afterthought on your team. reddish to make the $$'s work. the rotational loss would be quickley but og trumps that by a pretty wide margin. flynn is a backup pg you get for cheap next season too to see if he can work out for you.

taking feelings and hometown bias out of it - i think that's a fair trade for both teams. it helps your post season roster and gives you a real solid starting 5 that can cover up brunson and randle's subpar defense. your bench will now have rj to become a microwave so his offense becomes more impactful. raptors need an infusion of rotational guys b/c we are top heavy and playing guys 38+ mins a night. probably have the worst bench in the league the past 2 seasons.

Nope, Knicks won’t even consider it. They love IQ that much.
