We barely knew ya. It's always a bummer when you have someone who ticks a lot of boxes but can't put it together to have an impact for your team. On paper, you should have been a great fit and fill a need. I doubt we'll really ever know the story behind the story, if there was an attitude problem or what not. If so, try to fix it in PDX. Good luck in the next stop. Hope you get it together.

Wishing the best for Cam
I don’t think there is a mystery though. He was too inconsistent and too weak to reliably guard stout 3s or 4s
ESOMKnicks@ 2/9/2023 8:19 AM
No mystery at all. Same story here as it has been at Atlanta and at Duke. An athletic small forward whose supposed calling card as a long distance shooter was too rarely seen.
ramtour420@ 2/9/2023 8:43 AM
I think Cam represents a certain milestone for the Knicks. With Cam we have started a trend of acquiring 2 way players. Now we have also used that approach in the draft. The results speak for themselves- Grimes looks like our starter at SG for years to come.
MaTT4281@ 2/9/2023 8:57 AM
This is one of those breakups that you know is right, even if you don't get closure from it.
To reference one of BRIGGS' thought of the day threads, chemistry has been a strength for the Knicks over the last few years. Main reason is that our top guys have fully bought into the coach. Cam apparently did not. He has a lot of talent, but not enough to make it worth disrupting what we have elsewhere.
Offensive consistency has been a problem this year for our Duke boys, but I thought Cam looked great defensively when he got his chances. I'll miss his level 10 difficulty layups and will root for him in Portland. We just couldn't make it work here.
What's the over/under and angry Cam threads after his first 20 point game in Portland?

Hated those " oh look what I can do" layups. Pissed me off, 😠. I mean if he always made them it's one thing, but they didn't go in most of the time 😂
SergioNYK@ 2/9/2023 9:14 AM
If Reddish doesn't kill it in Portland his career is likely over imo.

I like this, it's perfect
GustavBahler@ 2/9/2023 11:53 AM
Cam reminds me of Prince playing guitar, back in the day. Showed you enough to tell that he had talent. Not enough to show you how much talent was there.
EwingsGlass@ 2/9/2023 12:39 PM
There is a world where we lost this trade.
Chandler@ 2/9/2023 12:46 PM
In another thread i had commented that there is seemingly a Vanderbilt or Caruso in every draft. Most teams pass on those guys though and instead draft guys like Cam. Tantalizing skills for sure, and GMs get hypnotized by the upside, and then reality strikes. There are a long list of Cams (e.g., Knoxs) of guys who couldn't quite get consistent enough, strong enough, process rotations fast enough etc.

Interesting point. It seems a lot of the guys mentioned as potential acquisitions for us were late first rounders like Josh or second rounders (Brunson anyone?). Meanwhile the lottery pick fail seems rampant not just for the Knicks.
And let's look at our young players who are excelling. But hey -- let's tank!

i love using wikipedia to check prior NBA drafts. You see the same script year after year. Some high upside guys, talk of the draft being abject failures, and then later on you see guys who were solid contributors but not spectacular.

Inconsistent or not - more perplexing to me is why he would be banished though... we had multiple injuries and Thibs wouldn't give him even a few minutes as a temporary option - that smells like bad attitude or complainer... something more then just being inconsistent (which he was). We'll likely never know but I don't think his future play going forward should justify if we were right or wrong to move him.
CleaverGreene@ 2/9/2023 2:37 PM
We end up giving up two #1s, one to get him and one to give him away.
Did Thibs even want him here in the first place?
He was an interesting offensive player, and clearly has a following, as I would see him trending on my Twitter account all the time.
Was the disconnect between coach & player only about his D?
BigDaddyG@ 2/9/2023 6:17 PM
Gives a fair analysis of Cam's career to date.
franco12@ 2/10/2023 8:28 AM
Cam might be one of those young men who are so athletically skilled growing up that they can be exceptional going against the majority of their peers, but when they get to the NBA, for whatever reason, they just can't get it down.
I look at a player like Jalen and I don't think he's exceptional physically. I mean, is he faster than fishmike? Maybe not.
But, Jalen has a savvy about him that allows him to do incredible things with the ball.
I wish Cam the best of luck and hope Portland can give him the time and space to develop his game.
Otherwise, I hope Cam has saved his money!

C'mon man. I think Chris Farley is faster than Fishmike. And I'm talking about Chris Farley now.

I saw Chris Farley on the street when he was doing SNL. He was a about to get into a cab. He was wearing a big brace on his back, and trying to touch his toes, to stretch out his back, I assume. He did a lot of physical comedy back then.
If fishmike is slow, what does that make Panos?
Chandler@ 2/10/2023 10:21 AM
^^ man i miss that guy
it's crazy how many comedians who bring so much laughter to so many have demons to contend with
NYKMentality@ 2/10/2023 3:54 PM
Knicks with Cam Reddish = 9-11 (.450%) @ 2 games below .500% Vs. Knicks without Cam Reddish = 21-15 (.583%) @ 6 games above .500%.
That's a turnaround and/or win/loss differential of +8.
How can fans "blame" Coach Thibs for the benching of Cam Reddish?
I mean.
We always call out coach Thibs for his lack of adjustments but as soon as Cam Reddish was benched his Knicks started to win ball games but yet he's being called out for making a rotational/roster adjustment?
