I'd add Mike Malone to that group as well. Otherwise, their players have come through trades, Gordon and KCP, or free agency, Brown and Jeff Green.

As it pertains to the Knicks, because they don't have anyone making the max or in line to make it, there is the potential to keep the core locked in for awhile. Grimes, Robinson, Randle, Brunson, and RJ all have at least two seasons left. IQ and Obi are also pretty close as Knicks will have matching rights.

I started the offseason thinking keep it quiet and then got caught up in a trade for KAT. Now I'm back thinking that the best moves are just to try and sign Hart, IQ, and Obi to reasonable extensions. Knicks had the 3rd best record in the East after the trade deadline, after the Bucks and 76ers. Usually there's some adjustments with a new coach. Maybe the best moves are the ones you don't make.

Robinson/ Hartenstein
Randle/ Toppin
RJ
Grimes/ Hart
Brunson/ IQ

Tossing Deuce and Sims into the mix and the Knicks have a lot of injury depth as Hart RJ IQ and Grimes can slide between positions. Maybe this should be a quiet summer.

Denver’s success should be sustainable. They have the perfect starting lineup for today’s game. They have a transcendent center, a second option that raises to the level of superstar in the playoffs, a good third option scorer in MPJ, and 2 elite defenders who can also make threes. It’s a young team too. They have a solid 6th man but will constantly have to remake the bench year over year to keep it going. And they have 5 guys in the starting lineup that make threes. Knicks have a good thing going but they eventually have to address the 3pt shooter in the lineup. Either Robinson or RJ will have to get replaced by shooting.

Or do what Miami did and sign under the radar guys who can shoot the 3 to come off the bench. There are guys available like Burks and Watanabe who won’t cost much. No need to salary dump RJ or trade him and a boatload of assets for an aging star who will miss half the games

I still say I would love to see Sabonis in a NYK uniform. I have no idea what it would take to get him. But imagine a big three of him, JR and JB. Could be vicious.

Sabonis and Randle playing together is like Peanut Butter and Spam...

Begley mentioned Knicks interest in DiVincenzo today. I keep circling back wondering if the Knicks move Toppin and replace his rotation spot with DiVincenzo. And just use Barrett/ Hart in the backup PF role. Why not?

Toppin in the pick-n-roll with CP3 would be ridiculous with all their floor spacing

Not happening. The kings and their fans love Sabonis.
