No way iq can stay a back up. We get two athletic foundational players

IQ, by himself, isn't gonna get you those picks. You need throw in Obi, at the very least, and more picks.

Why would anyone trade a #4 pick for a couple of bench players on a non-top team?
Seems like there are still a few grown ups here who believe that Santa is real.
Would love to get Whitmore but it's going to take a lot more... IQ, Toppin and a future 1st probably. I'd easily go IQ and 2 future 1st rounders for pick #4 and 20.

IQ is a 23 yo burgeoning lead PG who has shown all star abilities when starting. I dont see him as being happy backing up anymore. But the valuation of trade has to be commensurate. A high lotto pick and a low 1 seems about right.
Why the hell are we trading IQ. And for picks no less? No thx.
If he's burgeoning into a great player why
trade him.
Unless we’re getting back a young, burgeoning star, why trade IQ? I certainly not all that interested in trading IQ for the Frank Kaminsky du jour
Guys, Briggs is right here.
Facts: IQ is a great player now, and likely will continue to improve
Facts: draft picks are a crapshoot, you never know how they will turn out. Wemby could be Greg oden 2.0; we have risk and upside in getting picks back for a known player
I personally don’t think that cam is the best pick at #4, as his lift and size is sus to me, but if our decision makers feel that he is, so be it.
I do want an early second to draft Ben prosper. Legit 6-6 shooter
What about #4, Eason and a second for IQ and a protected first?

Im certainly not willing to give him away BUT how does IQ stay happy as a back up? Hes a starting lead PG w all star potential. Problem is we have one of those. I would need substantial return or I would happily work it out with him

Unless its in a big deal for the 2 or 3 pick (knowing who they will likely be) doesnt make sense to me.
IQ is a good playoff run away from being a near All-Star. If we trade IQ for anyone, it should be for an upgrade, or the belief that we would be getting back an upgrade in time.
Quickley just missed 6th man of the year. Very efficient on offense, statistically elite in both offense and defense. Not opposed to trading IQ. Considering his potential, what he's already shown, the FO better make sure that they get it right.
Fans would be talking about a bad IQ trade for years, and rightly so.

It's why using IQ to upgrade our 3 spot makes more sense to me. IQ, Barrett and Toppin for Mikal Bridges should have an appeal to both teams. I think we lose the deal from a raw talent standpoint BUT add the better fit, on a sweetheart deal that allows the financial flexibility to still add to the team.

No idea on the valuation of a player like IQ but trading him for the #4 pick IF you think that pick is a super solid long term player with a much higher ceiling, you do it in a heartbeat.
It also gives the Knicks a much better balance sheet over the next few years when there would be a ton of UFAs that hit the market.
It’s the same reason I’d guess the Knicks would also pursue trades for Obi soon too.

Knicks tried to make a similar deal for the #4 pick last year for Ivey and it turned out to be too rich for their blood. IQ's value is higher, but by how much? I'd say say it's still not the equivalent to the #4 pick.

I think quick’s value is as high as the #3 pick. He’s a known entity proven performer at starting PG. he may be better than Brunson. He has size and can defend.

I guess that would also be informed by the team that is interested in IQ. With IQ you know a ton about what he can and can’t do and a lot more about both his ceiling and floor and, give or take, his salary over the next 5 years. Most draft picks take a long time to establish that, if they even pan out.
Risk for both scenarios of keeping pick and trading for a guy like IQ.
Thought provoking proposal BUT
Isn’t Houston targeting Harden and if so why would they need Quick, and
I’m not sure the rest of the league is sold on Quick as s point guard — i still prefer him off ball personally
They would be better off giving Austin Reeves 4-100MM. He's a better player and delivered in the playoffs.
IQ didn't show up and getting hurt killed him.
Houston isn't even close, not sure why they would give away assets for a player that's not a traditional PG that's not going to make their guys better.
We need to keep him here right now. Can't put all that wear and tear on Brunson.
My favorite IQ trade is package with Mitch for Ayton. They bring back CP3 but IQ is the air apparent and groomed one more year. CP3 gets hurt, he is the stand in.
Mitch is an elite rim runner. PHX gets deeper.
I have no idea if FO even likes Ayton, let alone Thibs.
That they canned Monty I believe they bring back Ayton.
