Knicks · Knicks look good, but now they need a new 6th man (page 4)

For Fournier and lots of picks!

Makes the most sense. Murray is not a star but he's a really good player. Gave us fits last season in a game as you can see. Shoots a good percentage from three so spacing shouldn't be that big of an issue. He can defend the elite guards in the league and you put Brunson the weaker one. He would allow Brunson to play a little off the ball. I think it's a perfect fit. And if it doesn't work, we can trade him. His contract is long but not crazy expensive.

It depends on what direction Landry Fields chooses to go. Trading Murray for Fournier, Grimes and a ton of picks kind of signals a rebuild. He'd probably have to trade Capela and Bogdanvic too.

Brogdan is another option that's realistic. But would he content coming off the bench?

Forgot about Clarkson. Ainge is never doing business with us. At least not fair business.

He's a guy that has averaged over 9apg playing PG, has been all NBA defense, and can of course handle the ball.

If his improved 3pt shot is legit and Thibs can get him back to being all defense he could be a huge addition.

Part of me wants a legit bench player after seeing the free flowing ball movement/cutting of the first unit with DDV and OG. Adding another pounder to the starters just puts RJ back there on offense.

we got rid of TWO high usage scorers, I think theres room for and probably a need for a 3rd scorer that can create. DJ solves alot for us right now, he didn't make so much sense before but he fits this team well.

He also led the league in deflections 2 years ago, he's long and like DDV will get into the passing lanes.

I don't see us trading for older players and nuetering Grimes again nor should we.

I think Flynn was bought in as that emergency ball handler for now, and he could end up taking Miles spot if Miles doesn't step up.

I get your point. The sweet spot is finding a 15 mpg backup who is competent to run an offense. Not necessarily someone who is going to play off ball or eat into Grimes/DDV mins. If Brunson goes down for 2 weeks this team is in serious trouble right now IMO.

Although I am still fine getting a guy like Brogdon or Tyus Jones. Jones is honestly the perfect prototype player I am thinking of.

Grimes truthfully hasn't earned guaranteed heavy minutes. You probably would trade him if you are going after Brogdon anyway.

VDesai @ 1/2/2024 11:05 AM
Tyus Jones is highly efficient and smart. Would be amazing to get a guy like that. Low turnover, good shooting efficiency. Just a steady hand to give the team.
Alpha1971 @ 1/2/2024 11:33 AM
Trae Young seems like a nice guy. But how many times can you watch him after a 3 do the ice cold shiver gesture and not want to slap him ? He is enjoying the role of a wrestling character. Very entertaining for sure for the fans but maybe Murray has had enough and would welcome joining the Knicks. Knicks would be a team with Brunson, whose quiet and serious demeanor sets the tone. It's a professional environment with young vets out to win. I'd take the shot on Murray. With OG and Murray we are better then when we had IQ and RJ and Grime's by a lot especially come the playoffs. Even better with Mitch next year and any other moves we make in the off-season.

Another name not mentioned yet I don’t think is Collin Sexton. Maybe he’s available. He seems to be really good off the bench for Utah.

Or what about Bones Hyland who is out of the rotation in LA but can score and probably can be had for cheap. He would probably be happy in a limited role off the bench as long as he’s playing.

I'd try to trade for Brogdon and Robert Williams for the PG and Center spots if possible then

if we trade Grimes for DJ then the minutes are available.

you need that 3rd scorer come playoff time, especially with Randle's struggles. And you need that 3rd creator.

DJ put up 23ppg against MIA in the playoffs last year, he's the only guy that could provide any insurance for a Brunson injury.

Murray is the guy over Mitchell, defense is so important and he’s great at the position.

They will want Grimes and 3 picks. Actually not a bad move because you can stagger Brunson and Murray and allow them to play at different times and still have a primary ball handler. That would be an elite move for this team and a better fit. Not as splashy but more impactful.

3 picks ? What did Atlanta get to get him ? They can have one good first, one of Detroit or Wizard protected, and a second.

I think Grimes, 2 firsts and maybe a smaller piece like Sims or Rokas gets it done and at that point you might as well trade Rokas b/c he won't come over if we have DJ and Brunson.

😂 NYCerican why do you abbreviate Dejaunte Murray is DJ ? I said you like to argue for the joy of argument because I been saying we should trade for Murray but you been disagreeing with me when it seems you feel the same thing. I don't get it😁😁😁

I was against DJ before the OG trade but now he makes sense.

I think we all say DJ here, if you say DM then thats Mitchell.

His name is Dejaunte Murray. So maybe DJM instead ? We better get this ready cause he is a coming. Go Knicks. Then after get a center. Or hell forget a center, we can put Hart on KP in the playoffs😁😁

I think Randle, OG, Precious would all take some turns guarding KP in the playoffs before Hart.

ATL traded 3 picks.

They are going to want both picks next year Dallas and ours. He’s signed through 27-28. He was going into free agency when they got him.

20/5/5 is very solid. $30MM per.

We can't trade our pick this year, we traded it last year. They take the Dallas pick and the Milwaukee pick. We negotiate it down to 2 first rounders.

Derozan for Fournier, a player exception (or 1 or 2 of our scrubs as filler) and the Mavs pick. We keep Grimes in this trade and resign Derozan who wants to play for NY to a 2 yr 20M contract. Instant offense and veteran leadership on the 2nd unit.

Can't add an TPE

ramtour420 @ 1/2/2024 3:02 PM
The starting lineup looks set now. That's if we keep our balanced approach and commit to a strong bench. DeRozan off the bench would be sweet. Isn't there someone who plays D too? Ish Smith maybe?
