Tonight he goes for 25 in 30 minutes on 12 shots with a few big shots in the 4th and I think 17 in 2nd half.

Watching Manny play and with Ant Man with the ball in his hands most of the time -- he really is doing a poor job setting Towns up and overall the Wolves have been poor getting him good shots.

Makes me wonder if Brunson would have same effect on Towns he had with Julius last year -- calming effect.

Have never been a Towns fan but I didn't realize he could put the ball on the floor so well and didn't realize he can pass the ball so well.

Interesting and flawed player -- much like Randle but with higher skill level IMO.

Given KAT's contract and Naz Reids emergence I seems a natural fit to trade KAT for Randle. Not sure it keeps Minny out of Apron hell but it might be a better fit for both teams?
Kat has been "soft" and often injured. Playing not as the no. 1 option he has looked better this year and with Rudy their defense was formidable. KAT could serve a duel role giving knicks interesting look. Him at Center with OG at PF, or him at PF with Mitch or iHart in the middle with OG at the 3.

Everyone needs healthy players. Timberwolves were in trouble when Conley sat vs. Denver. He was key to them winning once back. Nobody wins without health. Kats contract is an issue for Minny and for anyone else.

Personally I like Randle a lot and not saying I'd hate KAT but can see the potential to get us to another level.
We going there with Randle as well.
Im thinking if iHart is not resigned this might be a way to realign. KAT passing like iHart but the pick and roll can be a pick and pop with a shot that Isiah does not have.

Admittedly, I've never been a KAT fan.But really turned me off was the 60 point game where they lost to the Hornets. The shot hunting and the lack of discipline was so bad that he was actually benched. Could you imagine him doing that crap on a Thibs team. I don't think KAT is a fit culture wise. And his salary is disproportionate to his actual court production.
Clean @ 5/29/2024 1:46 PM
KAT's playstyle is what we need but not the price tag. He is getting paid superstar money and is a really good number 3. I don't care about the slump he is in this series. I am thinking about the overall regular season and playoffs. Can you imagine how much easier it would be on Brunson if teams could not pack the paint? If we could get that Randle breakout year 3pt percentage next season we going to the Finals(not accounting for injury luck).
Nalod @ 5/29/2024 2:16 PM
Kat played for Thibs. He was immature, undisciplined, but perhaps experience has taught him otherwise.
People and players change. KAT has not always had an easy road as a pro. Money does not cure some of the pains of being a pro, having health issues, and losing a loved one at an early age.
He has to swear his allegiance to the Thibian way if an unlikely trade were to occur.

...or the lack of BBall IQ

I will say, when he is on, he looks like a top 15 player in the league. Very talented.

I already forgot how good he was

If we could get KAT that would be great but it’s an absolute pipe dream. Now, he is from Jersey and we have a good team that is 2-3 players away so maybe he does a Carmelo in the offseason but I doubt it. I could see Silver sending him to his precious Lakers

Kat would seem to be a candidate to mature in NY.

2nd time with Thibs, pressure of NYC and both Brunson - solid vet core to tighten up his focus.

I don't see lack of effort or selfish issues with Kat just immaturity and rushing himself - sometimes settling for bad shots.

They making them weaker!

Luka is done with the western conference finals.
martin @ 5/30/2024 10:13 PM
Family outing to watch some playoffs!

MaTT4281 @ 5/31/2024 7:51 AM
It's official, Celtics/Mavs finals. I won't root for Boston, but I'm actively rooting against Dallas. At least I can get behind Derrick White, Al Horford, and Jrue Holiday. Easier to handle if KP doesn't play...
Philc1 @ 5/31/2024 9:14 AM
Rooting for mavericks. F Boston and Douchingis
Nalod @ 5/31/2024 10:00 AM
Never thought I'd see the day KP and Luka would make finals.....
On different teams!!! Wow.
A year ago we were talkingg like "when Luka gets frustrated and asks out".......

Who would have thought even in the age of parity a 50 win team could have made finals?
This on top of the trio of Thunder/Denver/Wolves season!!!

That Mavs would be so thorough in taking wolves apart in such short order?
That Kyrie would be a positive force instead of the flaky destructor he has been?
That Timmy Jr is 4 wins away?
That Jason Kidd could coach at this level?
That a rookie center, a Wiz castoff, and PJ washington would be so influential!
That Mark Cuban restructure of the Front office would be this effective after so many public embarrassments!
Im sorry he sold to the Adelson family.
Luka is a whiney personality. Not a fan but deep respect for his game.

Not sure I'll watch much. Only caught one quarter of the Conf. Finals. Fuck Boston but I really don't hate them as much anymore.
I have no issues with any of the players. Yeah, even "Douchingis". Part of me is angry he wanted out but logically the team was a mess and this was all pre Leon.
Phil Jax drafted him nearly by default, then was correct to want him traded BEFORE he got hurt. The level of change and disfunction in the Knicks was high. Really, was it that evil to not want to be employed by them at that point?

Love that Luke Kornet has played as "next man up" for them. Timmy, KP and Kornet all will play some kind of role.
Hope the series goes 6 or seven. perhaps as a neutral fan I'd like a good series over a desired outcome. I have no dog in this fight.
perhaps as I watch I'll be drawn to root for one vs another.

martin @ 5/31/2024 10:25 AM
Can we say that the Mavs tanked their way to this position?

Without Lively, they are not in this position?

Chandler @ 5/31/2024 10:38 AM
Kidd knows how to coach

whatever Minny was throwing at Denver/Murray didn't work against Dallas

at the risk of being banned, i have to root for Celtics. Neighbors and friends will be happy. Kids wouldn't forgive me

Hey, if you wake up one morn with a headache and not much memory of the night before outside of the hints of walking past a tattoo parlor with your kids but also an aching feeling in the tramp stamp area of the lower back and look and notice a Celtics logo in that very spot, don't say we didn't warn you!

It's personnel. Namely Luka. Ant and McDaniels couldn't slow down Luka or Kyrie the way they did Murray. Luka is just physical and Kyrie is just too shifty. That led to all sorts of defensive breakdowns that neutralized Gobert's impact. It also led to the Dallas centers getting ample lob opportunities. Styles make fights. Not to take anything away from Dallas, but I think Denver beats Dallas if they made it to the WCF.

Tanked is Cheating?
There is no way for them to know if Lively would be there when they picked or he'd be this good in the NBA so soon.
Credit due regardless.
I doubt we have taken LIvely give our center situation a year ago.

but for a few injuries, said tattoo would been right above my double nickel -- one on each cheek

even if i did watch the games, i'm not smart enough to figure out the breakdowns the way you can. thanks

that said, Kidd has done stuff before. i (rightly or wrongly) credit him with unlocking Giannis -- handling the ball so much etc.
