And leverage is the wrong word, maybe it's gentleman's agreement between the 2 of them that the Knicks next trade target with all the picks for this exchange - be it this year or next or the following - will be Mikal. Got to.

This would also help to perhaps keep OG and Randle in that range.
Or there is agreement that he will be taken care of at the end of his career and will retire a Knick.
Love OG and have been pining for this trade since rumored he wanted out of Toronto...Wouldn't be upset at all if they resign him
but...what do we think of a s/t with OG heading to Nets for M. Bridges?
OG is a better defender, but Bridges isn't far behind. Bridges is a more efficient shooter and more durable.

Just look at the win/loss record when OG plays. So, no
OG has more length and heft so can defend more bigs, where Bridges can defend more PGs. Durability point is big. Bridges has not missed a game in the last 3 seasons I think, and has played the full 82 in 4 of 6 seasons. He even played 83 games one year.
Not sure why the Nets would trade Bridge for OG though. How does that improve their situation? I see Bridges as a potential acquisition for us if the OG bidding gets too high. I think the price is Bog, McBride + a minimum of 3 firsts.

OG will guard the guys Randle can’t or won’t or when he is having an emotional meltdown, Mikal too skinny for that work.
And Embiid in a pinch when Mitch’s foot inevitably breaks again.
We assuming BKN wants that and doesn't OG have a say?

Interesting. That 5 Year Supermax assumes he is again all NBA and Healthy. Jah is coming back, Halliburton gets love/votes, Maxey is on the rise, and perhaps there are others that will get votes. All NBA is now "positionless" but implies he is top 15.
He is at this moment. He might have a feeling that this season can be replicated for many reasons. If Team is healthy, he need not be this dude and lets assume "Winning" is a priority.

OG definitely more versatile but also more injury prone.
Do the Knicks wait two more years to sign him as FA? I would imagine that they want him now…if so, what does that trade look like? I would think the Knicks would want to keep DDV and Hart to continue and promote the “Nova Knicks”. The Nets aren’t moving Bridges for a broken RObinson and Deuce.
If a trade is the route to try and capitalize on this window, I believe it would have to involve OG or Randle.
For the record….I’m ok with keeping OG and continuing to build with what we have.
Regarding a Bridges Nets/Knicks trade...
Who would the Nets want - Randle as a legit all-NBA star to pair with Cam Thomas? Or just a bunch of draft picks and the expiring contract of Bogdanovic? Mitch as a replacement for Claxton? Sign and trade OG + picks for Bridges? Trade Hart + DiVo for Bridges (hey, this actually makes some sense!)
All sorts of questions:
* where would Bridges play? If he's traded for Randle, then what, we see OG as a PF, with a 3-headed swingman rotation of Hart, Bridges, and DiVo?
* Randle just rejoined CAA... he can't possibly be traded, can he?
* Don't we want to keep all of our Villanova core of Brunson/DiVincenzo/Hart together?
Don't get me wrong - I think Bridges is a great piece, but we have a serious minutes problem.

I don't think minutes will be hard with Mikal. Thibs can have his 8-man rotation too.
Brunson
Bridges-DDV
OG-Hart
Randle
Hartenstein-Robinson
Precious and McBride (if not traded) on situational and injury replacement.

Hard to find DDV more than a dozen minutes unless he’s playing backup PG too.

The expiring contract of Bogdanovic? How exactly does that work? Would he have to be traded before his contract guarantees for next season? Is his contract partially guaranteed next season? Do you have to pick up his option to trade him?

Spot on.
They aren't getting all of that in one off season. Ideally, I am trying to get in on a 3 way with Cleveland and Brooklyn where Donovan goes to Brooklyn, Cleveland gets picks and high level support players, and the Knicks get Bridges.
Resign OG and IHart
Trade for Bridges (who I think fills like 3 of those needs)
Then start looking at vet bangers and defenders who want a shot at a ring for near minimum contracts.
The post was saying all of those pieces already exist on our roster, they just weren't able to play throughout the playoffs.
The more I see this Tweet, the more I realize I missed the humor but they do need a secondary ball handler. They do need a rebounder to share time with IHart (Mitch is hurt too much), I get the scorer is Randle, but they do need some length in the back court. OG is great, but he needs to be available more than 50% of the time. So they do need a wing defender. I think you fill those spots with guys who check multiple boxes. I think Bridges is one. A guy like Anderson is another. A guy like Caruso another.
For as good as they were when healthy, they did have holes.

To me, this isn't even a question. They are going to look to build around anyone on our roster. If they were going to do that, they'd just keep Bridges. They would want a boatload of picks and you low cost guys like Deuce... then they'll add contracts to the mix to flesh it out

Didn't Randle do something similar?

Yes, he took below potential market value and he has exceeded his contract in hindsight. We don't give him props for it. The guy is 25-10 player and we talk like he not relevant and easily replaced.

JB is awesome. One of the best Knicks of our lifetimes.
This team will go as far as Julius takes it.
Not a typo.
Wasn't crazy about trading for him, but signing him to a short term reasonable deal? Have to think about it.
