Nah it was the “thumbs down.” Oh, and he also made a face.

I was just forgetting the face.

It really hurt my feelings.

Sorry for bringing it up....

This is an amazing video. Easy to understand and still with great detail. I know he was a good 3rd option but I was lacking the details since I don't watch the Nets or Suns as closely as the Knicks. Bro, when he got to the part talking about how Bridges and OG can compliment each other I got chills. Re-sign iHart and I am ready to role with this team for the next 5 years. Him saying Randle did not have many positive qualities is crazy though. I have my issues with Randle but the Randle hate has gone way too far. The treat him like he is a scrub. He is almost a lock All-NBA, All-star every season.

Thanks Brooklyn for the full year of practice as a featured shot creator!

Randle put up 25-8-5 on 48%-37%-81% after the OG trade with Brunson, Donte, OG, Randle, IHart. Bridges is a more efficient, better defending, more proven scoring/finishing Donte.

The key to the success in Jan was the roles all being set in place with pieces that fit those roles perfectly. Mikal doesn't disrupt Randle's role since he isn't a guy who first and foremost thrives with the ball in his hands. Brunson & Randle will be the features and do their 2-man game. Guys like OG & Mikal wreck havoc off the ball with no play designs needed.

Everything is in place for Randle to simply just the let the game come to him.

I still can’t buy Julius 100% —— when playoffs are at their most pressurized. I feel like Julius and Mitch don’t fit with rest of team we’ve put together. Hopefully I’m wrong but have my doubts.

Without Mitch we don’t get past the Sixers

Gonna be wild when we able to stick Mikal on Maxey, Hali, Dame, Spida all game. While OG plays elite help defense off ball. On top of that Mikal can still drop 20 off clean looks while making your point of attack player work his ass off.

All while Brunson is cooking your coverage.

How did you finish typing this without hip checking yourself with a blindside hit that would leave you unconscious but also in a better mental state?

4 unprotected picks is a hefty price for Bridges. One could argue that we gave up less for Melo, when you consider that the players included in the Melo
Trade didn’t do much for the most part to distinguish themselves post-trade. But one important difference is that while we overpaid for Bridges (like Melo) we didn’t gut the roster to do it.

This roster is built to win now. The roster after the Melo trade was built to win later. Amar’e gave us half a great season. And Chandler was hit or miss after the DPOY. We didn’t have the bench we have now. We didn’t have a roster full of good to great young players entering, or in their prime. Too much of the cap was invested in our “big three back then, and 2 of the 3 had trouble staying healthy over the life of their contract. “Flu Tyson” and Stoudemire’s uninsurable knees.

There is a good chance that the Nets will find a real gem with one of those picks, like the Nuggets did with Murray in the Melo trade. But that doesn’t matter because they’re on a different timeline. We have a roster that can give Boston a run for their money right now, the Nets can’t.

It’s a big price for Bridges, but you can’t tell from looking at the roster. I’m looking forward to seeing this new look Knicks make waves. Boston will have a much tougher road to the Finals next season.

The media really blew out of proportion what we gave up for Melo. Yes I agree this is as big a package maybe even bigger

Bogs the only player given up. I am not pleased with the amount of unprotected picks but I guess the hope is they will all be late ones and Rose's draft chess moves replenish the till. But it is the kind of thing to come back and bite you on the ass. For Melo it was essentially Chandler, Gallo, and what became Murray - along with Felton, Mozgov and three other picks, one of which was traded but became Dario Saric.. Not a bad haul at all but certainly relatively fair. Lastly Melo was the star that Mikal isn't but I think this is a better team fit. Hard to say what Melo would have done with this much talent.

Good take.
The trade for Mikal will be evaluated on how knicks do in the aftermath and what became of the picks. This will take years.

The Melo deal as mentioned was fair. In 2013 knicks win 54 games, Denver 57. Denver moved on from Karl and laid the foundation after drafting Jokic in 2014. That took. few years to come to fruition but it did. The greatest 2nd round pick perhaps like ever but more important Denver never thru him in a deal and was patient. They trade Nuric in 2017 and promote Jokic. There is a lot of moving pieces but Denver kind of won the trade as they were able to build off the foundation direct and indirect of the Melo trade. We instead resigns him (we had to) and between his fallout out of shape and falling out with Phil Jax it did not end well. We had to bottom out with Fiz and rebuild from there.

Knicks did pay for Bridge big time. We also need to sort out our center rotation. Fuck letter grades. The games for the next two - three seasons will tell the story. Not Draymond Green, or any letter grading blog talking head.

I would guess that the Detroit and Washington picks actually slot in at a higher actual value than the Knicks picks in these years. Even if they miss and convert to 2nds, one of each of those seconds is going to be 31-38 or 31-42. With those picks and the youthfulness of this squad, I don't really see the need for picks for 4-7 years. Injury is our only real enemy. Other teams are fighting injury and time.

If Mikal was an UFA, what would be the fair market value of his starting salary? $35M? $40M?

They got their guy and got him on a 2 year salary reprieve WHILE they are competing for a deep playoff spot, which is probably THE most critical aspect of competing at a high level, all while he is going to enter him prime already having Finals experience after not missing any games. You are paying for all of that and it's worth it.

Philly is about to pay an aging star and compliment him with aging vet min guys.

Indeed the contract should be taken into account- if Mikal was getting that $35 - 40 mil, then more players than Bogs would be exiting and flexibility truly hampered.

Probably matching OG Anunoby numbers I would think

Brunson and Bridges both have elite mid-range games. Should get enough attention from defenses to create good looks from 3pt range.

Im also excited about the fact that DDV proved that he can be a quality starter for the Knicks. And we're deep enough to bring him off the bench.

jskinny35 @ 7/3/2024 12:09 AM
I know it's highly unlikely but I would keep DDV in the staring lineup and bring Bridges off the bench as a super 6th man.

I think Bridges could be featured off the bench while still giving us great defense (along with Hart and Deuce). Think Bridges is more of a creator and could thrive with minutes being centered offensively.

Brunson seems to have good chemistry with DDV already and he's more of a stand at the 3pt line and wait for the kickout type of player.

Not sure Bridges (mid-range) would fit as well playing most minutes with Brunson (now not having IHart screening every play), Randle needing touches, etc..

Who do you finish the game with? "Thibian Hot Hand"? or your very expensive bench guy?
