Corporate America - While our economy has returned to or surpassed its pre-pandemic levels on many indicators, workers’ share of corporate income has still not recovered.
Kamala Harris - Vice President Kamala Harris will propose the first-ever federal ban on “corporate price-gouging” in the food industry, her campaign announced.
Trump/MAGA - She's a radical, left wing, liberal, socialist. That's because administrative regulation of prices - except for times of emergencies, natural disasters, war, etc., or natural monopolies - is not the solution. And inflation is being caused not by some persistent and pervasive "corporate price-gouging", but by the pace of creating money and subsequent self-fulfilling inflationary expectations. Anyone who has studied basic economics and finance will tell you that.
Whatever MAGA proposes as its own remedy isn't any better. Probably worse, because MAGA will definitively end the independence of the Fed and force interest rate reductions, which will only stimulate inflation. While the fight against "corporate price-gouging" will most likely end up being some harmless form of shadow boxing. As I said above, expecting sensible economic policy from either camp at this point is a ludicrous delusionary hallucination, I have given up hope on that by now.
Agree, money supply is one of the causes for inflation taught in a basic economics class. Ie. over $800 billion pumped into the American spending pockets. (FYI, given mostly by Trump administration)However, another elementary position would be one that ignore real world dynamics.
One being corporate responsibility/greed to increase profit margins and stock prices by taking advantage of this newly created money supply. Typically price gauging is when companies raise prices despite no increase in costs but rather to take advantage of a favorable advantage. Secondly, in our current political climate it is favorable for republican aligned corporations, to keep inflation high, heading into the elections. Similar to what we saw when Trump demanded Republicans vote against any border policy agreement which would be seen favorable for the Biden administration despite the benefit to the migrant issue.Think you have a valid point in wanting to find out more about Harris. And you have the right to look for a platform that best meets your concerns. Sounds to me like it’s Ukraines plight against Russia? And if so, one would think you would understand why so many would rather vote for anyone but Trump as those that would vote for anyone but Putin.
Although you are tired of the reasoning, many of us think it is more important to fight against a candidate who has already proven to be racist, misogynistic, narcissistic, divisive , anarchist, a pathological liar, one showing signs of dementia and who has proven he only cares about himself and is willing to sacrifice anyone and anything. Including our constitution, rule of law and democracy.
Let’s not forget that the convicted felon also completely botched the handling of a pandemic that he said would just go away, “like a miracle”.
And he didn’t want to smear his makeup, so he convinced half of the nation that wearing a mask, or taking covid seriously, was a sign of weakness.
Oh, and January 6th. And nearly getting his vice president murdered as well.
I’m sure there’s one or two hundred things I’m forgetting.

I remember this well. Trump said the cheerleaders all agreed he was the most handsome man they had ever seen. He also mentioned how, if he was a cheerleader, he would have been the best in the world.
And of course once again reiterated that he can just grab that cat, at any time, if he wanted to.

Yea, but it's not like Kamala has access to a team of economist who have a ton of research, data, and information the general public doesn't have. Providing her the intel to even propose such policy. She's probably just proposing this because she is a weak, ditzy, radical, left wing, socialist, DEI hire.

Trump/MAGA - She's a radical, left wing, liberal, socialist.Edit
Most of the inflation is price gouging. There’s very little Harris can do about it — especially with this Supreme Court. Not to mention congress and the filibuster. If they even got anything past the senate there would immediately be lawsuits galore regarding price controls
Ofcourse trump’s approach, more tax cuts for billionaires, would be even worse because it would increase the national debt which is what causes inflation. The national debt increased from $20 trillion to $27 trillion during Trump’s term in office. No media pundits will ever mention that because it’s their job to blame immigrants and poor people

There absolutely is price gouging occurring that’s why McDonald’s had a 6% profit increase, Walmart had a 5% increase. Target’s profit increased by 48% in 2023.
I agree in general governmental price controls in retail are usually ineffective. However, there are some price controls that can be implemented effectively and we don’t even have to bother with the billionaire-owned senate or far-right activist Supreme Court. Take for example the price of a barrel of oil which decreases 3.5% recently in part due to the US dipping into oil reserves and then subsequently the department of energy purchasing oil futures.

Target’s Q2-2024 revenue grew 2.7% year over year to $25.5 billion, slightly beating the analysts’ consensus estimate of $25.02 billion, while the company’s operating income increased 36.6% to $1.6 billion.
Additionally, Target’s margins improved, with the company’s operating income margin rate coming in at 6.4% versus 4.8% in the year-earlier quarter and Target’s gross margin rate increasing to 27% to 28.9%

This level of discourse is hurtful to our country.
It is blatantly harmful. What are people doing about that?
When an elder person is physically struggling with something, do you help out or just ignore? If a robbery were happening, do you call 911 or just keep on walking?
This guy stole classified documents and is trashing our current government... do we all just watch?

sadly we enabled this behavior. MAGA heads will vote him in anyway.
its not the popular vote he gets. He has NEVER WON THAT in two elections. Its the electoral college process and the swing states.
I don't agree with everything on this demographic ticket but the GOP has gone so far to the right of center its not even a consideration for me.
Then you have this monster who is melting down because he is inept.
