Maybe the simplest truth is - Your candidate sucked and her choice for VP was even worse. There were literally millions of people who didn't want to vote for Trumo but at the end of the day could not vote for an empty pants suit.

I think what I've taken away from all of this (painful but obvious) is that there is such a stark contrast in what we value/prioritize that any progression has to occur at a slower pace while concurrently ensuring that the cost of milk, gas and housing remains low. While I think there are a portion of Repubs that are anti-woman and maybe unreachable in this area - there are also many that simply prioritize their wallets first and don't feel the desire or luxury to consider the rights and impacts of others when this need is not met. Somewhat tricky to argue with IMO...

I have to trust in the wisdom of the majority. I will hope for the best. Living in NYC I know the major issue for the population at large is illegal immigrants. NYC is a sanctuary City and if the US government goes heavy in deportation NYC will and should comply or federal funds may be revoked from the City. Next two years will determine if I sell my house in NYC and move to PA or elsewhere. Go Knicks

A trade war with the rest of the world will make today's cost of living feel like the good old days.

Letting Taiwan fend for itself will deprive us of an ally and a major source of microchips for industry and national defense.

Repealing the ACA will take us to the bad old days when tens of millions couldnt qualify or afford any insurance.

Gutting Social Security and medicare will deprive tens of millions of seniors of their only financial lifeline.

Deporting millions of mostly Latinos will make finding people to work in the agricultural sector a challenge to say the least. Shutting out immigrants will also deprive the US treasury of taxpayers (legal or not) to help fund SS and Medicare, with our declining birth rates.

I get why people didnt vote for Harris. The way she got the nomination, more of the same, not enough distance from Biden on most issues. What I dont get is how Trump voters believe his policies will make things better. Seems like a nihilistic choice.

I think a big part of it falls on the Clintons, who turned the keys of the economy over to Wall Street in the 90s. Thats when the Dems stopped being the party of Labor, the middle class, and only talked a good game.

If they had stuck to their roots, all this culture war BS wouldnt play such a big part of the conversation.

So many layers to what happened, what did not happen and where is the Bame.
Biden beat Trump. Trump beat two women whose intellect is superior to his.
some women won't vote for a women to be leader.
We sent a Jamaican/Indian women and perhaps we can celebrate she did quite well, but he is such a poor specimen its infuriating that he gets away with not just winning, but its flaunted and celebrated by many.
Women who have been violated by predatory men and hurt are going having issues. Men see this as "You all over woke".
Maga Karens might have been violated also but they are tuning there inner conflicts to fear and want men to protect them. Its about control This is a bit over my pay grade but I have seen it very close up and understand this.

Desantis got his abortion law in and had legalized marijuana knocked down. Im sure black market weed distribution is happy. Florida loses a very strong revenue source.
Desantis was against the law because he promoted "two large corporations will control the business".
North Carolina learned bad policies turn away business.

What you say has some truth to it. But then I think back to Trump's plan to combat inflation and...I can't find it. It's not really a choice between the lesser of two evils. The political system is phucked, no doubt. Trump and Harris are beholden to their corporate masters. You're right, the billionaire class doesn't care and are simply interested in their wallets. That doesn't explain the millions that voted against their own interests. Once you start taking away one set of rights and it gets harder to get them back. What's next? You have freedom of speech as long as you don't directly address your political leaders. Unlikely to happen, but what's to say some nut doesn't go along with the current line of thinking an says they're should also be a ban on vasectomies? It's easy to ignore these issues until the victim ends up being you ( not you in particular, but in general).

Well, I see not dealing with facts is still part of the problem. A comedian at a Republican rally poorly made fun of Puerto Rico, not directly its people. Real men have no issues with people regardless of sex, color, & sexuality, they care about policies to make their lives better.

Another exit poll showed a "major reversal" among a key constituency — and could prove ominous for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Latino men are breaking for former President Donald Trump over Harris 54 percent to 44 percent, according to an NBC News exit poll. The outlet called it a "major reversal" from four years ago, when Latino men supported Joe Biden by a whopping 59 percent to 36 percent.

Additionally, Harris's support slipped among Latino women, according to the poll. Harris has a 25-point advantage with that group, down from Biden’s 39-point margin.

The macho men didn't want a woman president. The Puerto Rican outrage didn't move the needle for Latinos. They would rather have a man who insults them than a woman. 🤦‍♂️

Real issue is my wife and I gross around 210,000 a year. Not rich but since Trump passed his tax plans we owe so much in taxes where we never did before. Trumps tax plans cost us money and so many of his followers too but they claim he saves them money. I don't get it

Kamala was far from the best candidate which was proven when she got 1% in the 2020 primary after having all the early hype and donors in her favor.

I want either Shapiro or Newsome in 2028. I was one of the few democrats saying to stick with Biden. The South and Midwest will never elect a female president.

Another good option would be Lloyd Austin though I’m not sure if he’s even really a Democrat. He would easily win the Super Tuesday primaries in the South.

Sadly, even with his mental lapses, Biden would have fared better.

I'm a spiritual person, even though I may not display it often. I sort of suspected Trump would win. Yesterday after voting, I walked home and stopped off to pray at my local Catholic Church, chapel, across the street from my house. My family and I love a good life, in the Bronx NY. Work hard and try to be good neighbors to everyone we meet. So I prayed that all will be well for my fellow citizens and God's will be done for the US and NYC. No candidate is all good and all bad. Hopefully, my fears are not realized and more good will result the bad. Not wishful thinking just hopeful thinking. May we all be well Go Knicks !

this isn't true. high income earners pay the lions share. "The top 1 percent earned 26.3 percent of total AGI and paid 45.8 percent of all federal income taxes"

That said, don't confuse high income earners with the highly wealthy where their stock continues to appreciate tax free and then gets passed on to heirs with stepped up basis avoiding tax; or where they borrow against their holdings and instead of being treated as income it's treated as a liability.

i think that's what gets most people truly pissed and is fixable

The thing that is truly maddening is that for the mega billionaires they'll have more money than they can conceivably spend (even living the most lavish lifestyle) in 100 lifetimes. And they know this. I think the issue is many don't want to pay taxes unless their peers also were forced to pay. E.g., you hear Buffet and Gates pledging to give money away (just not to taxes).

My solution would be forced realization of gains from time to time. Ordinary people have to do this with their IRA/401ks with RMDs. Not perfect analogy but close enough. At some point and preferably multiple points there should be realization events.

And while generating revenue for the government is super important, taxes are not bad if the government is delivering value with those dollars -- a much trickier question

i don't have the exact stat at my fingertips but roughly 25% of federal revenue goes into servicing its debt. Government needs to make more and spend less,

Um OK. I'll play.

What facts exactly are you talking about?

That they had a comedian known for this kind of humor to speak in a Republican rally? Made fun of Puerto Rico, not directly its people. I am not sure how that equates. So you can make fun of a country and think the people who originated from there should not be offended? The comedians humor if delivered in his regular set in a comedy show would/should not offend people. You go to a comedy show expecting something like this. Delivering this in a political rally? Time and place is key here.

Real men have no issues with people regardless of sex, color, & sexuality, they care about policies to make their lives better.
Definition of a real man is subjective and depends on your upbringing. The way I was raised. Men respects others and protects and provide for your family. Be honorable. Stand your ground and fight for others who can't defend themselves.

When I said macho men. I was implying hispanic men. Machismo is part of their culture. I am married to a dominican woman and have a lot hispanic friends. Small circle I know but all of them can't see themselves voting for a woman president.

Just for clarification. You are not implying that I am not dealing with facts and that I am not a real man. I have to tell you, nobody has ever questioned my manhood, at least not to my face.
