Only if a real center replaces him.
I like the idea of keeping Mitch off the bench cause he would be great when its time for offense/defense substitutions late in games and he lives rent free in Embiid's head.

We need an appreciation thread for Ragu and for Jules
I’d keep Mitch. There are times we’d benefit w him at 5 and KAT at 4.
I know KAT can stretch things which is great but consider the simpler point. When was the last time we had a 5 that demanded attention. We will play 5 on 5. The ball will move

Well, he’s off the bench and with the trainers rehabbing right now, so not far off? 🤦♂️

Mitch isn’t wrong. Might be feeling displaced with KAT coming in. I mf-ing love MitchBeast. He does put his body on the line. He does do the work. The blue collar stuff. He abuses the boards and makes less big men look like children. He deserves absolute respect.
I love Mitch but he’s not coming back til January what the heck else were they supposed to do?

Agree 100%. Why the f are we shopping Mitch? The return better be spectacular

Another good listen. Sam and the Game Theory podcast does a good job of peeling back the value of all players involved, KAT's defensive history and his offensive utility. The YouTube doesn't seem to like live streams I guess, but the link still works. I also added a link to the pod on Spotify.
This is all iHart’s fault. None of this happens after that first domino?
Whose decision, iHart or Roses, was the 2 yr contract for iHart? Didn't that make a difference over ultimate control?

Makes me wonder about Thibs being on board with this trade.

This is a ridiculous take. When Leon was hired one of his selling points was his close relationship with KAT and the dream of one day getting KAT here. Knicks should have drafted him but unfortunately bad luck in the lottery prevented that from happening. After KAT signed his super max, that dream became a pipe one.
UNTIL Minny made the trade for Gobert. The possibility really picked up steam last summer when Ant showed out for USA basketball and became a likely super max candidate. The ownership squabble for Minny was just icing on the cake. Minny traded KAT because they had to, pure and simple. Since the Gobert trade this was a possibility and Leon was working the phones while Brock was working the cap sheet to make it happen.
If Knicks had resigned IHart, this trade becomes impossible. IHart was useless vs. Embiid in the playoffs. Same same would it have been vs. KP. Only way Knicks make it to the Finals is with an All NBA center- KP, Jokic, Giannis- you know the kinds of guys who have won almost every championship Since Bill Russell. As far as replacing that January magic- with IHart gone it wasn't going to happen anyway.
The OG trade, the Bridges "embarrassment of riches" trade, Randle not being offered an extension, the big OG extension- these all make sense with the assumption that KAT will come here. Randle or IHart playing the 5 not so much. At the end of the day, resigning IHart would have just complicated this trade.

He will certainly be missed. Having a shooter like that as a weapon was significant.
But to be fair, now we have a way more balanced offensive attack from outside and inside.
Hope he really gets his time to shine in Minny.

i'll say it again, KP is a game changer. stretches defenses out 30 feet. one of the few misses this FO had allowing him to go to BOS for peanuts when he was openly saying he'd come back to NY. I said at the time we had just handed BOS the chip.
But KAT is the next best thing.
What? KP is an injury waiting to happen. Please find a metric to support this. KAT 75 career win shares, KP at 42.

Don’t we have the full mle? But that would put us past the second apron (does that even make sense? I’m still not used to this apron thing.)

His Insta feed has a lot of troubled vibes. Lots of fingers crossed.
Mitch seems to have been given a heads up that a move is coming.

That would be shocking, especially since he might not garner as much as he could if fully healthy. But this has been the offseason of surprises and I’m not sure the Knicks are sold on Mitch’s ability to stay on the court. Still, they’d have to get a C back or something.
I don’t know about this. I’d actually like to see how Mitch and KAT pair up once Robinson is healthy.

I remember everyone was so pumped about him coming to the league. Interesting story to follow because I doubt Indiana keeps him with all the centers they already have.

They said the same thing about iHart before he came here. And Thibs turned him into a run protector. I’m not worried about Kats defense. But other team will have nightmares guarding JB now. The RIM lanes will be WIDE OPEN. JB is cooking this year.
