Find the source other than ones opinion.
Sure
https://www.casino.org/news/dallas-mavericks-arent-moving-to-las-vegas-say-adelson-dumont/
https://www.vox.com/culture/398321/luka-doncic-trade-controversy-mavericks-lakers-explained
First article literally dispels the move to Vegas as nothing but rumor and outlines why.
"Just can't make this up", and yet there you go making it up.
The second one starts with:
I don’t want to sound like too much of an expert, but this past weekend, something big and weird happened in the world of basketball.
As someone who doesn’t pay all that much attention to sports, stories from that world only cross my radar when no one can stop talking about them. But as a gossip, I really love mess.
They do cite an article that tanking the team to the point people get upset and then the threat of moving to Vegas then could change politicians to gain favor with all the casino talk.
Bottom line is you said:
"Supposedly the ridiculous Luka to Lakers trade was because Miriam Adelson is trying to move the mavericks to Vegas."
If anything you could have at least read your links and actually cite the source of the OPINION that they are tanking to garner a threat. Im relentless that making shit up won't be let slip. The reason the UK has existed for over two decades is we have mostly reasonable fans who can express what is an opinion and what are facts. If an opinion they/we at least position it and discuss.
If too lazy to do that, your wasting our time and discrediting the members who do respect others by not offering bullshit.
Its true Dallas does own its own pick and actually has a nice slate of picks going forward of its own. They have not leveraged up.
My take is The window with Kyrie is legit if AD obviously can stay on the court. After that the can reboot as they have path to clean up salary, have some good draft picks, and reboot.
Luka has not played much this year and they are barely above .500. If true they are not confident of him GOING FORWARD then being stuck in mediocrity is not a path to a good future.
Dallas Attendance? Its 4th in the league.
Nico Harrison was hired in 2021 in part to clean up its FO mess by Cuban.
Know who does not have majority ownership anymore? Mark Cuban. New owners typically like their own people running things. Nico could (Im guessing) be a bridge employee and could be the shield who gets paid very well to take the heat for trading Luka. Two things happen here. AD gets back on the court and they make a run. Last year they might have peaked and the west was kind to them in that unlikely run to the finals. It was clear thru most of this year with and without Luka that run might not sustain. We'll never know. They make a run, Nico is forgiven. No big gain really. its a net neutral at best. Lets say AD fails to make a run and they get a nice pick, then they are looking forward. They could trade it also to boaster the here and now.
In the outlandish event they conjure Cooper Flagg then its a brilliant move. They get him and AD for their troubles. League gets a star in LA when Lebron retires, Dallas gets a white rookie star to replace its departing white rookie star, and AD/Kyrie keeps the team competitive and might still contend. PhilC gets to think he owns it. In the end who gets screwed? Nobody. So its not a conspiracy or the blame game is on. Dallas fans get over being mad. Thats the think, if its orchestrated its over everyones head and Nico takes the hit. Im sure he'll be ok.
If Luka breaks down anytime in the next 5 years it further galvanizes the trade as brilliant for Dallas.
More Nalodian stuff:
Dallas metro area is the 4th largest market in the country regarding TV viewership. Las Vegas is 40th. Nola and Memphis are 50th and 51st. Plenty of large markets don't have teams and obviously there are many things to consider. Las Vegas sands has a very strong business in Vegas. Adding a team won't increase it that much. But building a mega complex on the 100 acres it bought in Arlington near the cowboys stadium would be huge in virgin territory in a very large market. Might say the Dallas team even without it is a more valuable franchise than Vegas. Not sure NBA loves the idea of a casino owning a franchise there. What's the hold up for mega casino complex in Dallas? Politicians are mucking it up.
Im not upon reasons why but I doubt Adam Silver is conspiring. Perhaps the issue is a new arena leaving downtown Dallas? Asking for concessions? Same shit.
In a world of negativity and quick to judge in social media its not that hard to think thru things and form logical outcomes. Tilting to conspiracy is for the lazy. If Adelsons actually wanted to move it would have to have owners blessing and then leave the Mavs name in Dallas. I'd assume the 4th largest market would then get a new franchise instead of Vegas. One might imagine Adelsons want Mavs to anchor new arena/complex near AT&T stadium, then perhaps sell the team. Bruce Rather did this to build Barkley's center and had big plans but 2008 financial crisis hit and it got derailed. Prokorov made a fortune picking it up cheap and then selling the team. It was all about the real-estate. Cuban still owns 27% and in charge of basketball operations. He has kind insinuated he would not have done the deal as he'd just as soon divorce his wife. Funny comment but perhaps he now sees a bigger picture and with deeper pockets the real estate deal is now part of his focus. Might he have an option to invest in the new real estate venture? Gambling is not legal in Texas. Yet. I'd think having more Texas investment might help sway that. In a state with no income tax this tax source might be a very attractive source. They do things big in Texas. This is bigger than just Luka fandom.
