So this is interesting because this is a trade as the outcome of the new rules. Memphis wants to build around morant and JJJ it seems, but have determined that you can’t build a team in the new CBA with 3 max guys. So Bane has to go and Memphis is going to try building out the team in a more cost-effective manner. Orlando is basically saying “f—k it” let’s do this now and worry about the fallout after we have to pay Banchero. The window is open in the east. Because once Orlando pays Banchero, what they are doing will look exactly like what Cleveland is doing, where you have 4 players putting you into the second apron with little room to build around them. It’s one of those things that’s fine until it’s not. Knicks even face some of those concerns and that’s with Brunson giving the biggest discount in the nba. It’s a tough league to build in right now with the new rules.
