Knicks · We need an upgrade at PF! (page 4)
As good as Hart has shot the 3 ball this year, he's really not a huge threat and is usually left WIDE OPEN for his looks. So I don't think you lose that much spacing with Precious.
It strengthens our bench.
the biggest loss would be that secondary ballhandler b/c Hart has been our de facto PG much of the season, I guess that's why Thibs really sticks with it.

OG (my new fave) at 4 may work. But then who is at the 3?I think we see Thibs unlock another level in another vet w/ KAT.
I have always thought of Mikal/Josh as interchangeable at the 2/3.
I dont know how it all plays out but my optimism is really coming from the roster makeup and talent.
Still think we can match up against a top tier frontline with KAT at the 5?
No rim protection?

I like Mitch coming off the bench. KAT can go on a run at the 5. Then Mitch can either sub in, and KAT moves to PF. Or depending on what the score is, KAT can sit, and Mitch can patrol the paint, while Brunson is the focus of the offense, for a while.
I dont like the idea of Mitch starting, hasnt been good for him careerwise, availability. The first few minutes of a game is where the most sprinting is done. Trying to set the tone. Saving Mitch for after the first few minutes feels like the way to go.

What’s Brown going to do?
Unfortunately, I was proved right about everything Insaid would happen with Hart in the playoffs.
Mitch was a better plus than Hart. Covered up KATS and JBs defensive flaws.
Harts lack of shot cost us.
As I stated last year, KAT is the only possible upgrade at PF.
We just need to hope Mitch is taking 1000 FTs a day

I don’t know how much it affected him but his busted finger may have played into the poor shooting. Josh has said as much.

That seems to be a perennial injury. Mostly during playoffs ![]()
Not sure who said it but what hurts Hart most is the hesitation to shoot. Which gets worse in the playoffs. He has shown that he can shoot the three at a decent clip. However, he has also shown little confidence in it during playoffs.
Still feel he is our glue guy but just not when you need more shooting.

Maybe. But hard to coach confidence. Was watching the Roommate's podcast and he said it himself, feels we have a better chance of scoring if he passes it to someone else.

Think coaching will come in to play when knowing when to use him. Great role player/ glue guy for most of the game. But when you need 5 guys to put pressure on the defense in the playoffs, maybe not my first pick.

That’s why Rose wanted Simmons. Big long player who play the 4 in today’s nba and be a de facto rim protector if KAT is at the 5
Bol Bol. I’m going to keep saying it.

Agree. Best way to keep Mitch healthy is to limit his minutes. If that means at KAT starting at C fine. We desperately will need Mitch in the playoffs

Reminding Rose that we still need a PF.
My suggestion of playing Mitch and KAT has worked but Brown not using consistently.

I think Brown is managing Mitch’s minutes. The Knicks view KAT primarily as a Center and if Mitch gets injured playing alongside another Center we are back to Hukporti seeing major minutes every night.
I agree our best lineup includes Mitch and KAT together especially on defense but offense too.
One has to say Mitch not playing back to backs is part of his game. His minutes and managment are part of why he is playing well and perhaps injury free for the most part this year. But.......fans think "He is doing well, do more!!!". More minutes, more fatigue. More fatigue, more dumb fouls and injury potential. The fact is our guys are all playing less. WE are not necessrily winning more, but if healthier doe it raise our ceiling a bit? Maybe.
Taj just signed with Memphis! 40 years old!
Can Thibs be on his way?? LOL!!!
I think his leadership was desired for that young team. Not like Jah is a great leader of men.
WOnder if they gave CP3 a thought.
Naw!

And again, no secret Towns needs a defensive big next to him.Reminding Rose that we still need a PF.
My suggestion of playing Mitch and KAT has worked but Brown not using consistently.Who is your ideal target?
Not many FA's next summer. John Collins? Hachimura. Say we go all in with KP o LBJ.
Thought Diawara earned some more minutes before Sochan came.
Sochan had promise. Can he get it back? Was not a bad thought.
Think we will see Kat there more in playoffs when MR injury concerns subside.
Keep that in the back of my mind. Many complained Thibs hurt us not saving some guys for the playoffs. So maybe we will see the benefits of keeping MR healthy. Think that is our only hope.
My preference still, is that we pick up a better defensive Center that can stretch the floor. KAT has always been a problem defensively. Having KAT and JB on the court at the same time does not scream defensive success. Add a small PF and we don't match up well against the better teams like Detroit and Boston. Will start my "We need a lot more than PF" next week.
