1-7 agaist Boston. How many ways are there to say Less than ideal

It’s maddening how on offense we seem to be playing against ourselves. It just doesn’t make sense, especially when we played huge parts of the season varying the offense and KATs 3s were a huge part of it.

Over the season I have noticed a trend. When we played garbage teams we would pass, cut, and do all those great offensive plays. Then, the better the team we play, the more our offense stagnates resulting in more and more ISO throughout the game. The epitome is this Celtics series

Celts are the same team that won last year w a better Pritchard

We’re a better team than last year and a healthier team

I think the 20 of 40 threes comments was not a criticism on coaching so much as it was that the celts were hitting at a high rate

We need to play w more balance and a better start. We’re still in comtrol

Did you watch the clip? First thing he said was “20-40 3s, a lot we need to discuss tomorrow”. That seems like saying “strategy didn’t work and needs to change” to me.

DLeethal @ 5/11/2025 6:46 AM
That is much different than the usual “we need to be better, I need to be better” that comes out of Brunson.

Will Thibs learn?

Joe Mouslla is idiot but Mitch Robinson is a bad free throw shooter who doesn’t work on his free throw. It’s time to take the training wheels off Mitch Robinson and actually work on the basics like free throw shooting.

Anthony Mason got his free throws up to 73%. Granted he used a very unorthodox shooting technique but who cares if it goes in?

I got no hope in Mitch Robinson free throw shooting, I have better chance at winning the lottery at this rate.

Even after missing 8 free throws Mitchell Robinson was still only −3 in his 19 minutes. This is what I've been talking about all series. Mitchell Robinson needs to start. He needs to start so that when he's plays he's not going to put the team over the limit when he gets fouled. The Celtics won't foul him and then he can be more productive in his time.

I said before the game Deuce Mcbride needs to play more. In 19 minutes he was just −1. this loss is not on the players; it's on the Thibs. It's been true all season, the lineup dieta shows that the starters are not a good unit together. All of the top units for net rating have Deuce McBride in them. If they want to win the series. they need to play Mitchell Robinson and McBride more than 20 minutes a game.

Basically every combination of our core 7 guys has a good Net Rtg except to 5 starters lol

Celts are reigning champs for a reasons
They have a good defense and have taken away our one and two options often .
That is why you need a very elite one and two playing their best to win a chip.
You also need other guys to be able to step up and burn teams for doing so.
You also need a top tier bench to fill in and give those players a breather without giving up leads or better yet to add to them. We still have areas to improve on.

This is hard to watch and definitely looks like full blown KAT DROP and not just miscommunication on KATs part

I think KAT has developed a style of defense that helps him avoid fouling out in one quarter.

Knicks have been bad at home all playoffs. I was hoping to at least split games 3 and 4.

If KAT actually tries to play defense the refs will bench him in the first qtr. that’s what happened game 1.

Splitting was always the goal so we can still take care of business

Win game 4 the Knicks are up 3-1. I predicted Knicks in 6 before the series and sticking with it.

He got in foul trouble anyway despite avoiding guarding the 3 point line. That’s why we saw a Precious / Mitch lineup yesterday

Sounds crazy but if KAT comes off the bench it prevents him from going into early foul trouble and Celtics can’t do Hack a Mitch for at least first 10 minutes of the 1st qtr.

Media will have a field day but f ck em

VDesai @ 5/11/2025 10:39 AM
Starting 5 continues to be their worst unit and it has been for months

Towns is not playing a serious brand of basketball. We go as he goes. I actually do believe staring Mitch makes sense as it might stagger him on offense and get KAT going. I dont know what we do about this guy.

If I was coaching (give it time), my starting five would be:
MR
KAT
OG
Bridges
Brunson

With my bench being
Cam
Deuce
Hart
Precious.

Get it done and we losing 6 and Thibs gets fired .

But seriously, how much can it hurt to try for a half?

VDesai @ 5/11/2025 10:49 AM
Why is OG so gassed right now? That was his least impactful game in a while.

While Bridges has done amazing things this series, he has been putrid at the start of games and dreadful offensively for about 80 pct of the minutes.

Whenever I start feeling good about the coaching of this team, they do something that makes no sense like that. It’s all a surprise with this team, who also seems to play uptight at home for some reason.

From what I’m seeing online it seems they went into this game intent on NOT switching anything with Brunson or KAT, resulting in lots of KAT drops and Celtics just bombing early 3s with no resistance. First two games Brunson and KAT held their own on the switch. Brunson made huge defensive plays switched on Brown last game down the stretch. And KAT got into foul trouble today anyway. Mind boggling “adjustment” from Thibs today to change the only thing that was actually working in Knicks favor.

Not switching Jalen.Kat is exactly what we did ALL year so if that was move that was just laughable —- laughing so hard I’m going to cry.

houston20 wrote:Mitch Robinson needs to make at least 60 percent of his free throws. He such a bad free throw shooter and Mitch was fouled 12 times and made 4. He been in league 7 years at some point he got work free or let precious play.

Drains the life out of me watching Mitch at the line or any time ball is near his butter fingers.

And today for some reason we decide to not execute the adjustment that had made us win two games after not being able to compete with Boston during the season. How does it make sense? I remain puzzled about this whole season. We start strong, showing a diverse and exciting offense while not playing defense. During that we have trouble beating elite teams. We finally start playing D but our offense is trash. And then today we said what about trying to win without either. Brave.

Still up to this day, this team remains an enigma.

I agree with you. This team has been in an identity crisis all year. But we haven’t shown a competent offense basically all playoffs and beyond.

Shocked you don’t love our 3 perimeter hand offs 30 feet from hoop while clock runs under 8.
