Ted Lasso in the Mecca. Might be great, or will crush this nice mans soul.

Good call on Ted Lasso
Honestly that kind of personality isn't great for NY, but does seem like a fit with our guys like Josh, Jalen, KAT, Mikal.
I doubt he is truly as corny as Ted Lasso (who is), but the point is he is an easy quote and has a manner of speaking that seems to resonate with both players and beat writers. The Finch staff was one of the best staffs in the league these last cpl years. Nori I think got a look at the Cleveland job last year too. As far as interviewing top assistants go, he has to be one of the top 3-4 most serious contenders from those ranks.
ALso seems telling we haven't reached out to Johnny Bryant. Knicks have first hand experience from players to front office and haven't granted him an interview yet....maybe they are still getting to it, but that kind of familiarity would indicate he'd have gotten a serious look already.

I agree. Especially when we lose the last thing I want to hear is the coach making a joke. It used to drive me insane when D'Antoni did that.
I'm assuming Johnnie Bryand told the Knicks to go kick rocks

Knicks never even called him
Knicks to ask permission to interview Mark Daigneault for head coaching vacancy

His pedigree is from the Pop Tree (who himself was a Larry Brown protege) and while his solo resume with Charlotte remains unimpressive that shit show could be a badge of honor. He was with SAS in the winning years.
One can find something to not like but just posting as a mention.
I actually like Borrego and I am impressed by the fact that he got them to win some games in spite of their overall organizational incompetence.
I mentioned him in the OP because the more you think about him, the more he seems to check a lot of boxes
Find it interesting that the FO is going to hire a coach after the draft, not give them any input. Maybe Fizdale pushing Knox was a cautionary tale.
The biggest reason why I wasnt happy to see us give up so many draft picks for Bridges. Was the fact that the FO has shown an eye for talent. If they were mediocre scouts, wouldnt really matter.
Our draft picks played fewer minutes than any other bench. This season will be more of an extension of their rookie seasons, than the start of another one. Im confident Leon and co. wont hire a head coach who will keep his bench..on the bench.

Unless the new coach is already here. Maybe the Knicks run it back with Rick as interim coach

That would feel like "the emperor has no clothes" moment for the FO.
They already gave up 5 frps for Bridges. In large part as a thank you to JB for leaving so much $$$ on the table. Hoping the FO finds a coach who will help JB become more of a floor general. Hali outplayed him in that dept.
I dont see that happening with Rick Brunson as coach. As an assistant, sure.

Seems like Rose was laser locked on Kidd up until a couple weeks ago.
Or Johnnie Bryant worked for the Knicks for 4 years and they don't consider him HC material. Sometimes the most obvious thing is right
Think its reasonable to believe that the Knicks and Kidd likely want each other, but its a slow moving and delicate situation because:
A) Kidd wants to get paid more regardless of where he ends up
B) Mavs don't want to let him go, especially to NYK, but don't want to cave on money or their demands for compensation
C) Knicks aren't gonna give away the house and know they have time on their hands as they are the only ones out there looking and are willing to wait as long as needed to pay a price they are comfortable with
Meanwhile the Knicks will run interviews, express interest in others and kee a process going to gain negotiation leverage, learn about the field and have alternative plans. Maybe someone wows them and they decide he is their guy.
