Good luck Mike! You're going to need it.

Some past Knick coaches have tried to fit a square peg in a round hole. Want to see a system that plays to the team's strengths.

Thats what Riley did when he went from "Showtime" with the Lakers to bully ball, suffocating D with the Knicks.

The two press conferences I came away the most excited from were Derek Fisher and Jeff Hornacek. I don't trust them anymore.

Whatever you think about Thibs, it's been nice not having to do this for a while.

Hornacek was a good coach. He was a moron for telling his buddy on the team, Hernangomez. To go over to KP in practice and tell him that he was playing like a "bitch". Not how you talk to your blue chip draft pick. Dont believe he's sniffed a HC gig since then.

Fisher was a head scratcher because he had zero coaching experience, and he was still playing.

I want to hear some details of what kind of system Brown plans on running. Its an introductory press conference so Im not expecting anything in depth.

Thats the key for me. maximize this team offensively

Because defensively, we are who we are. Offensively, we have room to grow.

Hopefully. he is open to playing some zone to mix it up...OKC was the best in tje league and used some zone to beat the Nuggs and pacers

Feel like we could use 2 players specifically much better.

- Deuce should always be pressuring ball full court
- Mikal should be allowed to go under screens where he can use length to contest vs trailing over screens

VDesai @ 7/2/2025 2:18 PM
Its not an upgrade or downgrade. Its simply can this voice get them over a progrssion hump and maximize the talent. Brown will have to open up the offense and find new ways to cover for KAT and Jalen defensively.

He has a long track record of winning. He has a lot of expertise. I dont know if he is "better" than Thibs. Thibs probably can do more with less. Can Brown do more with more?

SergioNYK @ 7/2/2025 2:21 PM

Must listen! You will see why Brown got hired.

Knixkik @ 7/2/2025 2:44 PM
Boring but solid hire. Adding Borrego would make it better.

Tough to not take these comments as digs at Thibs. Maybe warranted, maybe not, but there's been several comments like this from the beat guys through the entire search process.

Saying the same things

Brown was always the most experienced of all the candidates. I'm not surprised they went with him. I do not think this was the time to experiment and go with an unknown. Like if Brown was a draft pick, he'd be that prospect who went to school all 4 years and had the best floor but not necessarily the highest ceiling.

I'm fine with it. He's a good veteran coach who's had success, has coached a lot of HOFers, won titles as an assistant in GSW, won COY twice, turned around Sacramento and comes from an impressive tree of Pop and Carlisle. Grew up with a military family too and has been married for years. He's not an experimental hire. We know what we're getting and there is a comfort to that. I'll be very surprised if we wo not win 50 plus again and have a good chance at the ECF as long as we are healthy.

Let's hope he hits it off and vibes with JB or this won't work.

HofstraBBall @ 7/2/2025 3:49 PM
As much as I feel Thibs got backstabbed, wish Brown much success and luck.
Won’t say a bad thing about him once he is hired.
Until then, don’t expect a whole different offense. Or player substitutions.
Brunson will be pounding the rock with Towns waiting to get a touch so he can shoot his 30 footer.
Rick will be calling plays for his son and fans will start complaining about his lack of creativity and late game adjustments by first quarter of the first game.
Life goes on in Knick land.

But like I said, Good luck Mike!!
And Welcome!

It was in the papers. Your choice to believe it or not. Feel free to google.

Has Mike Brown ever won a playoff series? Arent all his wins with Lebron teams?

Like I thought this was about winning a title. We at least saw Thibs with some quality playoff wins... Cle/Phili/Bos were all quality wins.

It's wild because Brown's rep is playing his guys too much and never adjusting. Y'all are gonna love him

He was COY his first year in Sac and the team got worse each year. They lost to the 6th seeded Warriors in their only playoff appearance.

Look... bottom line is this is a WIN WIN for Knick fans. We either win a title or are at least in the finals and Leon was right again. Or we flame out in the 1st or 2nd round to the Hawks or Bucks, but the important thing will be we did so with leadership and collaboration.

Rookie @ 7/2/2025 4:07 PM
Collaboration that’s cute. So Brown is going to collaborate with Leon on how to administrate the team and he can call Dolan to collaborate on how to own the team?

Seems like Mike is getting the job with only minimal power to do his job. The FO is already telling him who his assistants are. Uh, I mean collaborating on who his assistants are. This sounds like a disaster in the making. Maybe they can install a hot line on the bench so WWW can send collaborating instructions in real time.

Spoelstra, as great as he's been lost to the Mavs with LeBron. Cavs beat Golden State with that famous lineup and Steve Kerr coaching.

DLeethal @ 7/2/2025 4:11 PM
I didn't have him on my list going into this but once we targeted him it all made a lot of sense. He's a veteran coach but still seems like he might be relatively untapped in terms of his resume. His resume with CLE was really good, he revamped SAC which was every bit as hard to do as revamping NYK, before the SAC ownership sunk that ship. His resume as an assistant is as good as anyone. And he has coached a top defense, and a separate #1 offense. I like the hire, and I like that their priority is building up an elite staff around him. I also like that he has coached big egos, and has coached in big markets. Prudent hire by Leon.

Great offseason so far.

ramtour420 @ 7/2/2025 4:15 PM
Ouch, tough take guys. I don't know who this guys is, much like I didn't know much about Thibs. One thing I know is I will be watching the games,as always. I hope he unlocks our offense, I hope it's going to involve a lot of assists and is going to be run through Towns and Brunson. I am kinda excited.

Yeah he was sunk at SAC when the FO started ‘collaborating’

You’ve got it completely flipped.

Well run organizations work this way, especially when it’s to the benefit of multiple different groups.
