Year1: $25.3mil
Year2: $26.6mil
Year3: $27.8mil
Year4: $29.1mil player option.

This is the avenue to net Giannis while reducing the cost of asset capital & avoiding having to give up the wings.

He's definitely a negative asset, and one that might help MIL win a few more games which they wouldn't want.

Thing is, to match contracts you'd have to add one of our other big salary wings.

joec32033 put out the play to make without the wings. Mitch($13mil, Yabusele($5.5mil), Dadiet($2.8mil), Kolek($2.2mil), Clarkson($2.3mil)

not sure that works. Even if salaries match that means we are trading 5 for 2 and would need to fill 3 roster spots. Not sure we'd have room with the 2nd apron to legally do that.

He is redundant with Deuce but also an incredible upgrade over Kolek, worlds better although I havent watched him a ton.

You could pair Deuce and Alvarado. Or start Deuce in a pinch. If Brunson misses time, the drop off and replacement is much easier.

I don't know what it would take to get Alvarado but NOP also in a position to lose him for nothing if they don't trade him.

a luxury but we are honestly good with Clarkson, Kolek and Deuce. I'd rather go after a wing like Saddiq Bey from them.

Believe vet min players allow you to do so, but i'm not an expert. Or how about signing Dink & Diawara to the roster?

I have a different take. Clarkson, Kolek, and Deuce have been OK. Knicks have also not really been tested at the playoff level regarding their secondary PG play.

I think Alvarado would be a clear upgrade and put Deuce and Clarkson in better positions to just focus on their strengths, which include more scoring instead of facilitating.

Looking at Dinks boxscores shows a very high volume shot rate with not great % to get those numbers. Not gonna over think the Dink.
Alvarado misses a lot of games. At 27 and Nola in the tank they likley will let him walk. I do think he'd be an asset here but maybe Nola lets released him before the end of season so he can catch on somewhere where he'd get playing time if the start playing yoots to develop.
at the same time Kolek is progressing.

Knicks are doing well!

Deuce has played exactly 4 more games than Alvarado, they are both in their 5th year.

I don't get why NOP would keep a guy just so that they can release him instead of trading him for assets cause other teams would pay?

Last two years not a big difference so your right on that point. Jose is two years older and perhaps his listed 6 foot height is generous.
Why would they release him vs trade? I suppose he is worth a 2nd round pick to some teams even if its a rental situation. As a stand alone trade maybe not so, and if you have. reputation of helping players and careers one can do well in free agent market by demonstrating good will over time. There are scenarios where a season slips by and if not traded, released if they are not planning on resigning them.

Mitch's trade value is a mystery given. his injury history and can't hit a foul shot. This is costing him big money potentially.
Myles Turner? Maybe on a good team as he was on Indy he shows better and I'd gather he'd be ok with us.
