Gave up a game or 2 early trying everything so you have enough intel to push the right buttons when you really need it. Such a huge improvement.

Mitch had 10 offensive boards and 6 in the 4th….pretty crazy.

Interesting that Yabu got no playing time, but Huk did. He must be on his way out.

Not that it matters but Kolek opportunity only pops cause Deuce and Shamet are injured.

He took that opportunity and ran with it to the NBA Cup Finals. Kudos

It's funny how the players celebrated this Cup more then some teams do when they win the actual NBA Championship. You can tell this really meant a lot to them. I know the extra $500K plus is nice but KAT especially was overjoyed and excited and it was cool to see. It meant a lot to both teams cause this was playoff level intensity and effort. So it kind of validates us winning this. I know it's not the NBA Championship but it's still an accomplishment. And life is short! Maybe we will never ever seen a real Championship but this kind of looked like one if you squinted your eyes a bit! And we got to see Brunson hold a trophy and the players wear the t-shirts and hats that say 'Champions' on it! Most of us have never seen this team win a damn thing so this was cool to see and if Adam Silver has his way, the Cup thing will keep getting bigger and bigger. Maybe it's something that will mean more in a few years.

I think the biggest turning point of the game was Hart hitting that three with about 2 minutes left in the 3rd after Wemby went nuclear and hit two threes and scored like 10 points in the row. That helped cut the lead to 5 heading into the 4th where we just dominated them and outscored them 35 to 19! Clarkson hit some threes, Mitch got a gazzilion offensive rebounds and OG hit some timely shots. Hats off to Brown for putting Kolek back into the game after that Brunson turnover at halfcourt where the ball went off his own foot. The Spurs pressure was killing us all game and we needed that secondary ball handler and Brown hit magic with Kolek. As soon as he came in, he found OG in the corner for a three. That put us up 8 and we never looked back. Brunson didn't have a monster game, which is disappointing and concerning, but he did make some nice plays in the 4th including finding Kolek under the basket for that reverse layup. But kudos to the Cap for winning MVP! And credit to OG for his monster first half with 20 cause we'd be down double digits without him.

Also surprised Knicks fans did not take to the streets to celebrate. I was expecting to wake up today to video's of fans going crazy and climbing poles and flipping cars, ect. Glad we didn't do that! And also surprised we are not raising the banner at MSG. I'm fine with it but also wouldn't get upset if they did go ahead and raise the banner. Like I've said, it's not the NBA Championship but it was an accomplishment and we beat some good teams to win it.

OG was so happy.

Or pic of our defensive player of game sitting on Anne Hathaway's lap - raised to the rafters.

Brown did the same thing a few games back going to Huck over Yabuti.

Think the Kolek emergence is HUGE on so many fronts.

He's standing up defensively, he's developed a quick catch-shoot 3, he's shown glimpses of walking into a dribble 3, he's shown an ability to get right occasionally, he's knocking down his running left handed hook/floater and most importantly he's freeing up our other scorers with an enhanced pace and just finding them quickly when open. I really see him impacting Mikal/Kat/OG predominantly.

what a fun run... I went to the Miami game at the Garder for the Cup. Brought my son. Tons of fun. Players absolutely love it and bring extra juice. Those are not played like regular season games in Nov/Dec... I've loved it since the start and obviously enjoyed this. Just good basketball. Good content.

This squad is really loaded and vibes are legit. I dont think Brunson is an MVP but he's a top 10 player and the closer in the game right now

Interesting that this win came against a possible Finals team this year. OKC being the favorites for that spot, but the Spurs did beat them. So they might beat them again in the playoffs

Kolek had all of those tools in his bag, he's just unpacking it now. Confidence is everything for a second round pick.

Brown is smart enough to know Kolek's abilities. It was a higher level move in terms of player development to put Kolek back into the game late. Now Kolek will pay Brown back many times over for that vote of confidence.

The only thing Kolek is doing now that he didn't do in college is upping the intensity of his defensive game. And part of that is familiarity with defensive adjustments and the personnel. It was always fairly easy for him to orchestrate and hit guys in motion. But on defense he had to go to school and get better.

Kolek led the nation in assists. He was already a shooter who could get to the rim. None of his offensive game is a new development. He's at about 30% capacity offensively still. It was just a matter of building his confidence while upgrading his defense.

A truly confident Kolek is capable of winning games in the clutch. He ain't scared of the big lights.

Summer League games don't mean anything, but in his first or second SL game he won the game at the buzzer. I noticed how calm he was in doing it. He's going to be a clutch guy for us.

The chemistry and depth is really good on this team. It's hard to break it up - seismic moves don't always make you better, especially when they deplete the depth. Getting one more wing/big might be all we need. Beating OKC will be a long shot anyway, but this team has a shot against anyone. Giannis is almost 32 and getting injury prone, been hurt in the last few playoffs. Our guys are 3-4 years younger and our team is a contender. IDK if that's something you mess with.

I also want no part of trading Kolek for a more seasoned guard like Alvarado. Kolek can do his job just fine and we have plenty of guard depth.

i agree, but if its straight up for KAT + filler it;s hard to pass that up.

but i'm fine where we are, we beat a healthy defending champs BOS team last year and we have a much better overall team this year.

i'm not even sure I trade Kolek for DDV at this point. Kolek has that TJ scrappy energy and he's a legit pure PG which is something this roster doesn't have. He makes some really great passes and reads out there. He's also young, hungry and cheap.

Yabu + Dadiet + the WSH picks should be able to get us a really good $10m ish player.

I agree that KAT + filler would be hard to pass up, but our chemistry with KAT is starting to gel so it is very risky to eff with that.

Giannis is an upgrade on defense and he makes fewer dumb mistakes than KAT (and he is treated like a god by the refs).

Giannis would not lead the league in scoring with our squad. We have too many mouths to feed.

But I enjoy watching Brunson, Bridges, OG, Deuce and Kolek so much I really don't want any of them to go.

And we're already the best team in the East with plenty of room for improvement.

I think the only question to ask about a Giannis trade is:

Does he help us beat OKC and the other top teams in the West in the Finals?

If you think we can slay OKC with KAT then maybe we should roll with this current roster.
