If I'm being honest - that feels like a mega trap game.

Think Brown will need to use bench big time to have a shot in that one - good luck.

On Mike Brown reaching out to the players after being hired:

Jalen: He drove a couple hours, heavy rainstorm, he could have just said I'll catch you either day, but he made the trip.

Josh: He called me.

F Indiana. Bad karma suckers. Choke on that.

Fucking thrilled to see us win something in my lifetime. A couple of conference championships and this is all I got! I was proud of the way they hung in and played this game. This was an effort win and the kind of wins champions have. I hope this teaches them that they have the grit and talent to go all the way

That was a satisfying win

I'm calling this The Tyler Kolek Game

Seeing Brown put him back in the game at crunch time was unexpected, but a smart coaching decision. Our 2nd quarter was so choppy because the Spurs were pressuring from three quarters court and we were getting too late into our sets. We started pushing the pace in the second half. That, plus crashing the boards turned the game. And Tyler had something to do with that.

Glad for the kid. Always thought he'd become Brunson's backup.

Shout out to OG. He was terrific

Kolek = Mark Price

Agree with 1st post and Kudos to Mike Brown for pulling Mikal (poor game) and giving Kolek the chance down the stretch.

On the Kolek = Mark Price --- I don't see it as Price was a big time scorer and jump shooter but if Kolek can get there (WOW).

Name that comes to mind for me is Scott Skiles who I think may have NBA record with 29 assist game with Magic.

Big games from OG, Mitch, Clarkson, Kolek and Josh throwing his body around.

It's possible Kolek shuts the Alvarado talks down unless he's not involved in those but he's playing great both with and without Brunson.

What was special about this game was Jalen/Mikal/Kat all played poor to mediocre games and rest of our group stepped up.

F WEMBY, F SPURS, F KORNET (not his Mom) and F Refs because don't think Spurs had a foul called thru almost entire 4th (until very end).

0.0 fouls on the spurs until 1 minute left in the 4th quarter. Boo Silver next May when we get the ultimate.

Damn - didn't realize it was that bad.

Kolek is like watching an old training drill film. Almost zero razzle dazzle, just straight passes to teammates in stride.

He feels like a throwback PG from another era.

Bottom line is the offense keeps running when he gives Brunson a rest and that's what you'll need in the playoffs to keep our MVP fresh. Seeing them together for so many minutes was a new wrinkle, but I'd attribute that also to Deuce and Shamet being sidelined. I do think Kolek and Deuce would make a solid dynamic duo.

Price was actually a little bit smaller than Kolek and an elite shooter whose game would be even better in today's NBA with the softer defenses. I don't know if Kolek will consistently play at the pace Price would pressure defenses with, but he does do it often enough already and it is in Coach Brown's scheme to push it upcourt. Kolek is vastly better off under Brown than Thibs. Our offense and players are a good fit for Kolek.

I won't bite too hard on the Price comparison, but I think he could become a starter elsewhere if we're foolish enough to trade him. He's a legit floor general who plays with his head up and who rarely fails to hit the open cutter or runner.

If Kolek's confidence blooms, he could become a steady scorer off the bench. He has good shooting form so he could shoot 40% from three at some point. We'll see.

He was confident coming out of college and he had to live through Thibs to get to this point. Probably a good experience to have to fight his way into the rotation. His defense last year was bad and now he's getting better. Like Brunson, he won't ever be a great defender, but if he's competent and can cause turnovers like he's been doing it is enough.

Brunson is incredible. Having a backup PG like Kolek is a blessing IMO. I was surprised at how many Knicks fans gave up on Kolek. I think it was always obvious he had game. I value Kolek far more highly than journeyman shooting guards we'll pick up every year like Cam Payne or Jordan Clarkson. What Kolek provides is 2nd unit stability and cohesion which is something you should hold on to IMO.

Kolek is coming on fast - maturing game to game.

I love a coach that adjusts to what the game shows. I will always remember Thibs bringing back Randle when he was having a stinker and Obi was balling. Never said Obi is better overall but he was better that game. This is real coaching.

I've grown fond of Brown in ways I never felt about Thibs. Aside from being a cool dude, he holds himself accountable as a coach in ways I never saw Thibs do. And he makes actual in-game adjustments which was Thibs downfall combined with burning out the starters.

Rose deserves praise for replacing Thibs with Brown.

F WEMBY one more time - started game out shoving Kat but Kat threw him on ground and his coach started whining to refs.

Then Wemby kept trying to play thru Kats chest but Kat really wasn't having it. When Kat doesn't do stupid things he can really defend bigs 1 v 1.

All I'll say is with Brown coaching I find far fewer instances where I'm screaming at the TV to either pull someone out or put someone in.

Feels like Brown has pushed MOSTLY the right buttons most of the season.

Another 1 was the insertion of Huck for about 3 minutes and I think Huck made 2 defensive stops with 1 leading to Hart dunk on break.

LivingLegend @ 12/16/2025 11:58 PM
Kolek 14/5/5 in 20 minutes and a +14 tonight. Was +18 in semis.

At one point in the 4th when SA got within 5 points and Wemby was getting calls I had a spooky feeling the NBA front office wanted SA to win so they could parade Wemby around some more.

But then the Knicks really clamped down and did not give SA any easy shots and I relaxed knowing the refs couldn't bail SA out.

Lately, I get that feeling we'll pull away at the end of games (because that's what we've been doing). Not used to seeing this so it is an adjustment

I legit feel Brunson is probably a Top 5 player at this point due to his clutchness most nights

By the way what a time to get a good Clarkson game. Like I been saying for years, you need to have 1 guy like him because they can win you a game at any time. They will also shoot you out of a few games so the coach has to know when to sit him and I trust Mike Brown.
