I really like his potential. He looks like a future 2-way impact guy.
There's not that many 6'9" guys with big wingspans with his natural feel and athleticism. In any era.
Feel is often what defines stars, not eye-popping athleticism, anyway. He has a good feel for the game and the flow and handle to act on his instincts.
The closest comp in today's NBA is Siakam.
He's 19 so he will get stronger and maybe even a little taller.
His upside is huge. No predictions here, because it is mostly going to be due to his work ethic, because his talent is immense.
If he does the work and stays healthy, he has potential to become a #1 or #2 scoring option on a contender in his early twenties.

Seems like the best lineup for Brunson is:
Mitch
OG
Bridges
Deuce
JB
This lineup allows him to dominate the ball while they play off of him. The other guys can focus on doing the dirty work and hit open jumpers.
I suspect the best lineup for KAT is:
KAT
Diawara (2027-2028 season’s more developed version)
Hart
Shamet
Kolek
This KAT lineup would probably have better chemistry with him. They would also probably get him the ball in his spots better than the first group. Diawara’s development is key because he is a more natural passer and ball handler than both OG and Bridges. I foresee he and Hart being able to grab offensive rebounds when KAT drifts out on the perimeter. Plus Hart can slash to the basket with KAT pulling the bigs out of the lane. Obviously Kolek has the best chemistry with KAT than all of our guards.
Kolek needs to get minutes. KAT and Bridges have been the most impacted by him not being in the rotation. He has court vision that neither Brunson or Deuce does. When these guys are getting fed on offense they seem to be more locked in on defense. I know Hart is a leader on his team so we should keep starting him, but after a few minutes we need to sub in Deuce to go with the backcourt rotation I highlighted in that previous post: JB/Deuce and Kolek/Shamet. Then for the rest of the game just rotate Hart/Mikal/OG at SF/PF. And for the times that we go double bigs, we should always have Deuce or Shamet at SG.
Not sure which one of you works for the Knicks org, but thank you for showing my post to the Knicks coaching staff.
I let Mr. Rose know about your post when I delivered his order of xanax and shrooms earlier this week.
Jrue looked like a shell of his former self
I rescind any notion that he is welcome on the Knicks

Either team is showcasing MO for a trade or team is going forward with Diawara in the rotation again. Get him ready for the playoffs. What team is missing is the 3/4 off the bench that Yabu was intended to be. Is Alvarado so much better then Kolek ? I'd like to trade Yabu but not if we have to add pics to get rid of him at this time. Yabu will be an expiring next year and perhaps he will be more essential in a trade in the off-season. Diawara needs time

Anyone catch Kat showing significant frustration 2times with Diawarra not giving him the ball and then near end of game Kat/Mitch having an unfriendly animated dialogue on the bench?
If I had to guess I might think Mitch was standing up to Kat for showing up Diawarra 2X or I guess it’s possible both were discussing not getting the ball BUT Kat played great & should shut down the antics.

I missed that, but I'd guess it was Mitch not being down with KAT's antics.
KAT is a drama queen. I kind of expect he has pissed off the whole roster at this point with his diva BS.
Also, he has not stopped the constant whining on every play, he's just switching over to gestures and cartoon facial expressions instead of verbalizing his infinite exasperations.
The guy is a tool. I wouldn't want to be around that kind of nonsense.
I would not be surprised if Hart loathes him.
Kat might benefit from pre game mediation like Randall used to

yea I saw him demonstratively clapping at Diawara for not passing him the ball after he hit a shot. And it wasn't even like KAT was open, he just wanted the ball. felt like he was picking a the rookie b/c he would never do that to one of the vets. Really not a good look up 20 in a blowout demanding the ball from a rookie. I could see if it was a close game but in a blowout?
reminds me of a few weeks ago when KAT finally hit a shot, started flexing while we were getting blown out, and then took a fadeaway 3 falling out of bounds next possession where he kicked out his legs and got an offensive foul that killed any rally.
IDK if he's always been this way or not, but his entire demeanor is just not that of a serious player. He's a clown right now.
KAT either doesnt know, or doesnt care to endear himself to NY and the fans. It's really simple, just play hard on defense, go after rebounds and don't whine all the time. that's it... anything he gives on offense would be seen as a bonus. He doesn't need to force it all the time.
but the constant whining, showing up teammates, not getting back on defense... I mean it does almost seem like he doesn't want to be here sometimes.

Julius had some other pre game routines Kat could try.
Kat’s been great rebounding, passing, mostly defending past few games —— now someone needs to stuff a sock in his mouth and put some restraints on his arms/legs to stop him from flailing around or throwing his arms up in disgust, sun glasses could be nice add to hide his eye rolls.
If we can do all this we have top 10 player in league.
Won’t take these cats seriously if they let Lakers walk into garden and beat us again —- Lakers been far too comfortable beating up on us lately— we need a blowout and refs need to cooperate just a little.
The defensive turn around during this week streak has been pretty incredible. And it starts with Brunson and KAT. Both have been much better. Their man to man and close out's have been really good. Much better effort from them and overall communication from the entire team so kudos to them and Brown and the defensive coach O'Connor.
OG with a second straight monster game. Completely shut down Avdija and kudos to the team for keeping him off the line. He's second in the league in FT attempts and we held him to only 3.
Diawara also had some good minutes and should honestly play over Yabu the rest of the season. I actually expect Yabu traded at the deadline. I like Kolek's minutes too. Have to have to HAVE TO find minutes for him in the rotation. His playmaking is too valuable and Deuce isn't a PG.
That's 5 in a row so give this team credit! Many gave up on the season and thought this team would fall into play-in territory. Totally fine to call them out when they play badly but also have to give them credit when they play well. Most impressed with Brown. Coaching and playing here is not easy and there was a lot of noise during that slump and even some noise now with the trade deadline and Brown has these guys focused and playing well.
Lastly, give KAT his flowers too. He's playing a little too passive imo but can't complain much since we are winning. I do like that he is not complaining as much t the zebras and has stopped driving to the basket out of control which usually resulted in a turnover, offensive foul and him just falling on the floor and the team having to play four on five. His rebounding has been at an elite level too. He leads the league there. That's not easy to do! It takes effort and toughness. I like KAT I think more than most and I still believe in him. He just needs to keep doing what he's doing and find those spots where he can be aggressive offensively. His shooting is coming along (41% from three last 10 games). It's the missed bunnies at the rim that haven't fallen for him. Curious to find out what he's shooting this season at the rim compared to his career and last season. Seems like he misses at least 3 point blank shots at the rim each game.

That type of stuff doesn't bother me. Diawara should give KAT the ball there. One is a rookie the other is an established All-Star who just grabbed 20 rebounds. Maybe KAT could or should tone it down as well as Hart in those situations but it's not a big deal imo.

I kind of saw this as an audition for Jrue and I agree with you. He's washed.
BlueKnickers wrote:Diawara is going to be a beast
I like him a lot! His played way better than Yabu in that role. I'd be fine with selling Yabu for a second if possible and just giving those back up minutes to Diawara and McCullers. We're going to need those kids come playoffs.
yea Jrue looked washed when we played in POR too... he still has decent numbers but you can tell he's nearing the end. CP3 had decent numbers last year, so did Horford, and they both are washed now. I wouldn't want Jrue here at all, same for Grant.
This what is being talked about?

yes, and both times it just happened to be showing up Diawara, the rookie... just weak all around. IDK what KAT's endgame is here? Is that supposed to endear you to the fans or to... ANYONE?
a 20+ pt lead late in the 4th, you should be ENCOURAGING the bench guys to get their looks, not screaming for the ball.
he wasn't even remotely open so its not like DIawara missed or misread a play. That's the kind of reaction you'd expect if KAT was wide open and being shrugged off.
