Knicks · Let the chaos begin: Mitch to the Celtics (page 3)

He could have picked anywhere else and I’d be like good for him…. Now fuck him he’s an enemy, he’s gonna look real ugly in that Celtic green.

Enjoy the bricks from the line.

Now what the fuck are we gonna do for the back up 5

Philc1 @ 7/1/2026 1:04 PM
Mitch and Tatum gonna be IR buddies

Mitch was a huge impact guy but he might be one of those guys thats better to let go of a year early than a year too late. He was getting noticeably bigger and was winded and gasping for air even just playing 20 minutes sometimes. And the FT's getting worse and worse.

I have faith we'll get a good replacement.

I agree. I think the Celtics may regret this signing

Brian Windhorst said in an interview recently the entire nba’s teams’ offseason are about restructuring rosters to try to beat the Knicks. Celtics can’t beat us so they sign Mitch.

Dolan's 2nd apron mandate.....

I think they were going back and forth on it. Initially dolan said no. Then Rose said he thought he could pull it off without going over second apron. Now we lose both Mitch and Huk.

You gotta be decisive.

I doubt knicks are incompetent and reactive here.
WE did not lose Huk. We either have another plan or deliberately made a decision.
Huk was in our control. Knicks made the decision.

Man clinched the title for us with his offensive rebound. Not even mad at him for taking the money.

Good luck, Mitch. May you have great personal and historically poor team success.

Be curious to learn if we even made him an offer. This one will sting for a while.

Choose not to resign a cheap and effective 7 ft center who was RFA. What’s the plan?

Your panicking already?
Whats the plan? I don't know.
But I gather there was a good reason why they did not reign him.
Im not second gueesing this FO.

I’m fine with Mitch leaving he got paid well deserved. Honestly though I’m kind of glad he is gone and I won’t miss the billions of free throws he misses. His lack of offense game for 8 years he was here didn’t improve. I think management, coaching staff and ownership was pissed off when Mitch broke his hand before the finals was the final straw. I am grateful he got us championship so thanks I was already to move on.

2026 Knicks playoff +/- per 36 250 minutes minimum

Karl-Anthony Towns: +16.07 / 36 (258 PM, 578 min)

Jalen Brunson: +12.00 / 36 (234 PM, 702 min)

Josh Hart: +11.79 / 36 (201 PM, 614 min)

Mikal Bridges: +11.55 / 36 (195 PM, 608 min)

OG Anunoby: +10.01 / 36 (163 PM, 586 min)

Miles McBride: +15.20 / 36 (141 PM, 334 min)

Landry Shamet: +4.76 / 36 (41 PM, 310 min)

Mitchell Robinson: +4.45 / 36 (31 PM, 251 min)

Kind of surprising, but of the 8 major guys in the rotation, Mitchell was the least effective.

I don't value plus/minus. He was one of the most efficient players that teams had to gameplan around.

I added Clarkson to the list. 195 minutes is also an important contribution.

Re: Mitchell- The coach that had to game plan most around Mitchell was Mike Brown. Nothing but love for Mitchell but shooting 29% during the finals from the free throw line made him very situational, and I think the plus minus stats kind of bear that out. Still sad to see him go, but I'm realizing it's more of an emotional response than analytical.

I doubt this played into the decision not to go over the 2nd apron and give Mitch a long term deal but it is very annoying to me as a fan and I absolutely despise it when grown men act like teenage girls on social media. It says a lot about their mental toughness and character imo. Like you would NEVEER see Brunson do something like this! Mitch is one of those guys who should delete social media or make it private cause it makes him look immature and childish.

The people around him have failed him on the mental health front.

Luckily 47 million bucks can make up for some of that.

He didn't want WHAT to happen? Get payed on a different team? Then why did he do it? I wish he could just be honest, but I am pretty sure he himself isn't being truthful to HIMSELF. Just say, yeah I got payed, yeah I traded all of you for a payday. Just be fking honest bro. The truth might come out, GTFOH

No clue what happened behind the scenes. But if we are, in fact, determined not to go into the second apron, would you really be surprised if we didn't make an offer?

Very disappointed, but I'll trust the FO knows what they're doing better then I do.
