Knicks · No Mitch, No Huk — now what? (page 1)
Philc1@ 7/1/2026 1:26 PM
Jock Landale gone too the Hawks signed him to 1 year $14 million. Precious resigned with Kings but he’s really a PF anyway. Here are some options I suppose:
Drummond - looks and plays like Eddy Curry after 3 hours at Golden Corral
Nick Richards - 6’11 averaged 6 and 5 on 14 minutes per game last season with bulls. Probably our best option.
Kevin Looney - averaged 2 and 5 last season w/New Orleans. 6’9. Meh
Kevin Love
Dwight Powell
Bismarck Biyombo
Mason Plumlee
Olivier Sarr
Just not a lot of great options. One dark horse is Bol Bol but he had a partial tear of his Achilles in May and won’t be available until probably January. I would give him a 10-day contract.
EwingsGlass@ 7/1/2026 1:33 PM
What’s done is done. Losing both Robinson and Huk tells me that we are no longer looking at that archetype. If you are looking to fill KATs role for 12 to 20 minutes, I’d be looking at Jay Huff. Not sure how you get a Goga Bitadze without creating more bench problems.

Intentionally or not You and BolBol are comic relief.

Maybe we trade with the pels for their young big . Or dip into a summer league darling .
We just need a guy who can give us 15 min at the 5 . Richards makes a lot of sense .
ramtour420@ 7/1/2026 2:02 PM
Now we find a backup big. I am thinking an older vet that comes here for a ring.

I thought our FO had expressed interest in Richards in the past?
Knixkik@ 7/1/2026 2:15 PM
It sucks losing Mitch. I don’t care about Huk. I didn’t think he was very good and he regressed offensively in his second year. I’d target a proven vet- either Looney or Richards, and then try to add a young player like Moussa Cisse. I think not grabbing a first round rookie center was the downfall. Knicks could have adding Looney or Richards and tried to bring Tarris Reed along this year. But it is what it is. Need to get creative and figure this out.
Chandler@ 7/1/2026 2:17 PM
Musical chairs.
Lakers just signed 2 centers so have to imagine their prior centers are available. Likewise this is where those 2d round picks come in.

Heck, we had drafted one in the 2nd round that kinda fit the Mitch profile but we gave him to Detroit for just $ And he would have been cheaper this year than what we are gonna need to pay a vet.
Knixkik@ 7/1/2026 2:23 PM
Centers are the trend now. Load up and overpay them like it’s 2016 again. Everyone is moving towards figuring out how to battle Wemby.

Yeah but he probably wasn’t going to be on the team. He wasn’t even a starter in college. I think it unrealistic to expect a second round rookie to fit any sort of role. We got lucky with Sims and Hukporti being at least usable in a pinch, but that’s even rare. It’s unlikely a late second round pick will ever be a player.

True, but as a 3rd stringer at a position where we only have 1 true C now and need to buy 2 while staying under 2nd apron, I just don't get it. He would have cost about what, 1.4 mil this year?
Blade37db@ 7/1/2026 2:31 PM
Another option (besides Richards) who may be cheap since the Lakers already picked up 2 new Cs? https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/31565/jaxson-hayes

Huff is a Pacer. It’s hard to see a rival helping us fix a major weakness

Marvin Bagley III. Still a big time talent but has never played on a good team. Maybe finally being in a good system/ culture can bring the best out of him. I’d sign him and 1 of Looney or Richards. I forgot about Bagley but I like him for this particular team.

That's a good call out. Fills a need at least offensively inside the paint. Rebounding and touch around the basket.
aggo@ 7/1/2026 3:14 PM
Luka will be a knick in 2027-2028
NYKBocker@ 7/1/2026 3:26 PM
He would come in cheap. 2 way contract would do it.
