TMS wrote:i still like the Old Stadium better

well of course man, but i think it's just nostalgia that'll eventually wear off. the new stadium is just a thing of beauty.

not really... the new stadium is fancy shmancy but feels sterile to me... everywhere you look it's sensory overload with billboards, signs, flashing banners of different ads... the stadium is distracting to the action going on on the field... at the old place, as soon as you walked into the place it felt like the field was the main stage & the show was about to begin... i don't get the same kind of feeling when i walk into the new place... it's a great stadium but the character is gone IMO... the bright green grass contrasted to the bright royal blue fences at the old place, the organ playing in the background, the bright lights on the immaculate field... there will never ever be anything like the old stadium.

Funny, just had the same conversation last night at the stadium with my buddies during the ass kicking we received. I agree 100% w/ TMS and still wonder why we really needed a new stadium (I know why and understand the business rationale, but..). For a fan like me who doesn't get to enjoy the premium experience and still sits upstairs or in the bleachers, the new stadium doesn't provide me with much satisfaction. The new stadium is aesthetically less pleasing to me and looks monotone. Besides the big ass TV in HD (which is sick) I find it hard to find the game data I want easily and find myself missing the old stadium a lot. It is eerie seeing a big dirt patch where the old place used to be. It is what it is though, so we better get used to it.

Our bullpen looks like $hit right now.

LMAO the last time i sat in the Bleaches (2005) It seems as if everyone knew each other up there... they were all singing YMCA by the village people, pointing at 2 nerdy guys and changing the words to....yyyyy.. r... u.. gay..... the entire section im telling you. MY GOD how i ever sat straight up for 3 hrs is anybody's guess...How are the bleachers in the new stadium.

I still like the Old Stadium more too, obviously. This new one is an obvious attempt to just rake us for even more money. Hey, but at least we can get Garlic Fries!!!!

I sat in the bleachers last night, section 201. They are good, behind the bullpen, but some obstructed views once u get high up. If you sit in the last row you can't see any of LF or CF. There are TVs on the wall but, come on, dont obstruct my goddamn view. Ridiculous.

Stadium is awsome.........Must have had 50k there and no waits for food, drink or bathroom! 3rd row sec 105 was great!!! Son and I had (LEAN!) Steak sandwichs and drinks........$40!!!! THey list calorie content for everyting.

Steak Sandwich like 500. Large tub of popcorn 2400!!!!!! 3 hour game, sucks they lost but we had a great time and saw a good game with lots of home runs out by us and lot of action.

Had a few garlic fries with son who had a small. Some dude next to us rolls in with a large smothered with cheese. Took and extra omega 3 and prayed for him when I got home!

Hung out with my brother and Son, perfect weather, good game and just had a great time!!!!!! Priceless!!!!!

last season we were the come back kings, winning a slew of games in the ninth and extra innings, this year were blowing leads and falling behuind early..
VDesai @ 5/24/2010 4:40 PM
Yanks need Tex and to a lesser extent ARod to get hot. Not enough production from the most powerful part of the order. Cano is not gonna hit .400 all year long.

Right now they have just run into a bit of a cold streak but watch what happens when Tex invetibly gets going like last year.

No iPads at Yankee Stadium
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: May 24, 2010

Steer clear of Yankee Stadium if you cannot break away from your iPad for a few hours. The stadium has a policy that prohibits fans from bringing laptops inside, and iPads are included in that ban. The team said it was a security-and-safety issue. Yankee Stadium is among the most tech-savvy parks in the majors. Every player has a computer screen at his locker, in fact.

Major League Baseball said the issue of allowing iPads into stadiums was a team-by-team decision. The Mets, the Angels and the Mariners are among the clubs that permit the tablet computers. An Apple commercial for iPad features the slogan that it “goes anywhere.” Last week, a driver practicing for the Indianapolis 500 checked one while his car was idle.

VDesai @ 5/25/2010 9:02 AM
Yeah you dont want fans throwing iPads or players or each other...

Gaudin's back... probably means Aceves' injury is worse than we thought.

I like Gaudin. He did a good job for us last year and should be good to be a long man. With Robertson and Park struggling they need some more depth in the pen right now, and IMO Gaudin is a better spot starter than Mitre (though Mitre has looked good in he pen).

TMS @ 5/28/2010 1:23 AM
forget using him as a long reliever... we may need him to join the rotation with the way Vazquez has pitched this season.
TMS @ 5/29/2010 5:39 PM
Javy Vazquez (6.86 ERA)
Randy Winn (.213 BA, DFA)
Nick Johnson (.167 BA, 16 games missed)
Curtis Granderson (.229 BA, 24 games missed)
Boone Logan (5.06 ERA, 4 Holds, .310 BA vs.)

i'm usually a Brian Cashman supporter, but this past offseason has been pretty horrible in terms of his acquisitions.

Johnny Damon (.275 BA, .378 OBP, 1 game missed)... nothing to write home about but at least he's been healthy & has come up with some clutch hits for the Tigers this season, which is more than you can say for our DH.

Hideki Matsui after a torrid start to the season has really been scuffling of late... his BA is down to .232... still, his 6 HR's & 24 RBI are more than what we've gotten out of Granderson, Nick Johnson & Randy Winn combined.

Phil Coke (3.22 ERA, 3W-0L, 5 Holds, .259 BA vs.) has been a reliable lefty arm out of the pen for the Tigers this year... definitely better production than we've gotten out of Boone Logan, his replacement.

Melky Cabrera (.235 BA, .605 OPS) has struggled mightily for the Braves this season, which is somewhat of a surprise... he obviously has not adjusted well at all to playing in another league & away from his buddy Cano.

now on the flip side, u can give Cashman credit for giving Brett Gardner & Francisco Cervelli a real chance to play this year... both of them have been huge for us this season & have proven they are starting calibre talent on any roster... & u can't really lay the blame for injuries on his shoulders (except for Nick Johnson, who had a huge history of injuries on his resume before we signed him, so that one's on Cashman)... also Marcus Thames has hit extremely well, even though his defense has been a trainwreck... hopefully now that Granderson's back healthy we won't be seeing him out in the field for too many games from here on out... as a righty power bat off the bench, he's a nice player to have, so score 1 for Cashman in that regard.

the team has been pitching well for the most part this season from 1-4 in the rotation except for some hiccups by AJB & CC Sabathia, but Andy & Phil Hughes have been the anchors to keep our heads above water... hopefully Mark Teixeira & A-Rod can get back to mashing like they were doing last year... A-Rod needs to dump Cameron Diaz & get back with Kate Hudson.

VDesai @ 5/30/2010 6:52 PM
The guy they gave up that they could use the most right now is Ian Kennedy. He looks like he could be a premium starter.
TMS @ 5/31/2010 5:49 PM
Austin Jackson .328 BA (9th in the AL), 33 Runs, 65 Hits (4th in the AL) - one we should have held onto
djsunyc @ 6/2/2010 4:20 PM
javy with 3 out of 4 quality starts.

javy nice day...

sebstar @ 6/2/2010 10:32 PM
why ya'll talking about who the Yanks should have kept? In basketball, one mistake can set you back years but for the Yanks all they have to do is correct any mistake by making a midseason trade, or purchase another top-level free agent. Is what it is. They're not trippin
TMS @ 6/3/2010 12:50 AM
every comment i've made about the team has been totally fair & accurate if u ask me... what, i'm only allowed to focus on the Kool-aid & get excited over 3 out of 4 games where our worst pitcher has done what he was supposed to do? do u think his performance has justified the trade to bring him here? i don't.

LOL we get it dude. its june 3rd, we don't know whether it was a good trade or bad trade yet. we still have all of june, july, august, and september to play before even getting into the playoffs. take a deep breath and see if javy keeps it up or not. you're getting to be like briggs with the post redundancy, read back on this thread and see how many times you've talked about javy vasquez. we know where you stand.

TMS @ 6/3/2010 8:29 AM
man spare me the lecture i'll post what i feel about good trades and bad trades. don't be making BRIGGS comparisons, i only harp on moves when i have a justified reason. i know all about what javy brings to the table. i made a bunch of comments about the rest of the team but u and the rest choose to only single out my opinion on javy. go read up on my stance on this team and the GM throughout this thread i have traditionally been one of his biggest defenders. please don't minimalize my opinions by painting me as some overly emotional jump the gun bandwagoner and talk that patience garbage mister miyagi

in all honesty, any move the yankees make would be deemed a success or failure based on october performance. javy was a solid pitcher we acquired b/c this year, it looks like post season teams will need a 4th starter. we couldn't come into the season relying on hughes to be that guy. we didn't give up anything we needed to get javy.

TMS @ 6/3/2010 11:38 AM
we gave up a young pitching prospect named Vizcaino & i've read some decent reports about him, along with Mike Dunn, a power pitching lefty who the Yankees were high on... also Melky was a useful player for us & was very clutch in late inning situations... he added some nice defense & some much needed energy to the clubhouse as well... we also gave up $11 mil in payroll that could have been much better allocated to address other needs, like re-signing Johnny Damon for instance... Nick Johnson has been a waste of a FA signing... combine their salaries for this season & you're talking $17M+ in totally wasted payroll, & we were squabbling over dollars last summer because Damon was asking for too much? that's a joke.
djsunyc @ 6/3/2010 11:59 AM
forget damon. time to move on. teams stay good by moving on and getting younger. i'd rather have granderson now than damon.
TMS @ 6/3/2010 12:13 PM
yeah, that's why we traded away Austin Jackson, Phil Coke, Melky & Vizcaino, to get younger.

Javy (33), Granderson (29), Nick Johnson (31) & Randy Winn (35) made us younger just how exactly?
