Great win to take the series against the Rays! 13 games left against nobody's with only three at home against the A's!

The glass is half full, my friends!

For the regular season, it is. The Yankees are the most probable team to win the division. They don't have the same kind of offensive firepower going into the post-season that their championship teams usually have. They're about 25 to 50 OPS points lower (about .5 fewer runs/game).

If we win the division I have a bad feeling about the playoffs.

I have to go back through the thread and start collecting these... "A Collection of Problems Unique to Yankee Fans"

We worry about bad feelings after winning the division. SMH...

Unique? I highly doubt that.

Unique? I highly doubt that.

You've been here long enough to know that on this board, it's unique.

Newest Yankee problem: too many elderly players experiencing career renaissance.

C. C. looked great tonight. I wish Joe kept him in. I think there would have been a little less drama.
Bonn1997 @ 9/22/2012 9:22 AM
He looked like a man on a mission. It was great to see his velocity back to normal. I hope he can stay healthy over the long-term.
SupremeCommander @ 9/22/2012 9:37 AM
the fekkin O's simply won't die

A year ago he would have. But you can't ask a guy with 2 DL stints including a recent one for elbow issues to throw 130 pitches. Not in a regular season game. It's not worth the risk. Even 113 pitches is a lot although I can understand leaving him in for the 8th.

I'm amazed that they're playing so well. I hope the RedSux put a whoppin on them today and the Jays can take 2 out of 3. The Yanks need to win today and sweep the damn Twins. I can't believe the A's are playing so well with such a young pitching staff. Can't take another extra inning game today.

Seven games burned, and we're still up by 1!

10 games to go. Hope the Ray's have something left in the tank and have something to play for against the O's in the last week.

Ichiro, batting .330 as a Yankee!
The return of Raul!
All we need now is some Andruw Jones blasts to the upper deck!

Jeter's doing next to sheet late in games with runners in scoring position...

Bonn1997 @ 9/24/2012 2:07 PM
What do you mean seven games burned?

I hope TB has something to play for too. I've been thinking about that. If they don't, then Baltimore has a schedule equally as easy as ours.

At 17 games left, we were also up by one.

Bonn1997 @ 9/24/2012 11:07 PM
Oh, makes sense.
Bonn1997 @ 9/25/2012 9:11 AM
I really hope the Yankees keep Swisher. An outfield of Swisher, Ichiro, Gardner, Granderson would be great although I'm sure they'd all want to play everyday.
jrodmc @ 9/25/2012 12:47 PM
Granderson's the only given.

Ichiro can't keep this up forever, or even for two more years.

Swisher gets his time at first and DH. I hope it's not fake, but Swisher seems like he'd be happy as a starting ballboy, as long as he gets to wear the uniform.

Gardner's missed all of this season practically. Love the speed, hate the fragility.

I'm more concerned with keeping Ibanez. I wish Gardner could get those timely hits like Raul. Would be a decent mix of talents.
I think I like Ibanez just out of the pure spite I can spew at all the Phillies fans I have to work with.

Bonn1997 @ 9/25/2012 4:33 PM
Ibanez would be a very nice, inexpensive backup (or backup backup).

Boone gets Span out and Joe G looks like the manager of the second best team in the AL.
Boone does what he does last night and Joe G looks like a micro-managing idiot.
Joe G leaves Hughes in and Span hits a homer and Joe G looks like a do-nothing moron who should have continued micro-managing his knee jerks like we all know he should have.
Joe G leaves Hughes in and Span strikes out and Joe G looks like a genius with an innate ability to control himself at just the right time.
I love pro sports writers.

And besides, Logan had had "a ton of success" in his career against Span.
In fact, Span had never gotten a hit off Logan. In four career at-bats. That is practically the definition of a small sample size.

Saw this on ESPN and immediately started to laugh. Don't they fear copyright law infringement, Bonn?
Bonn1997 @ 9/26/2012 5:27 PM
CC, wow! We absolutely need him pitching like a true ace in the playoffs.
jrodmc @ 9/27/2012 9:42 AM
And CC pitching into the 8th inning! That's the monster horse we paid for! Epley finishes the 9th...Yankees win...thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Yankees WIN!!!

2 games up. Life is good.
