You know Hughes and Kennedy went 0-7 this year, right?

Anybody from the minors would be a better option.
Kennedy & Hughes both had huge struggles when they had their shot this season... neither of them are ready, it's pretty clear... who else? Aceves? he's not even proven in AAA yet, how u gonna say he's a better option at the ML level? provide some backup to ur statements if u wanna have a debate... there is not 1 minor leaguer that we have right now that is a clear upgrade from Rasner, much less Ponson at this present moment... please stress when i use "PRESENT", cuz this is not me saying i think those 2 are better options going forward into the future with than our prospects are... the point is we need to figure out the best option to fill in the gap until Wang gets back.

Provide some backup? Dude, it's fucking Sidney Ponson we're talking about here, not Cy Young. Like I said, anybody from the minors. I'd rather take my chances with unprovens or have guys like Kennedy and Hughes learn through the rough times than trot out absolute GARBAGE every 5th day out on the mound - which BTW is a sure loss unless we score 8 or more runs.
I'm not going to have a debate on who is better than Ponson because the answer is simple: everyone.
I don't know what your infatuation is with him but at least keep it to yourself and stop trying to pass off Ponson as even respectable when we all know he shouldn't even be in the majors.
bring up kennedy. see if he got better and it's better for us in the long run...

So you'd rather have Ponson is what you're saying...

Well, I wouldn't be in this position. I've been very clear that I wanted them to trade Hughes and Kennedy for Santana. That said, my graduate training in statistics tells me that Ponson's 2-1 is better than Kennedy/Hughes's 0-7.

So you clearly dislike Hughes and Kennedy either way and their poor start only made you dislike them more.
W-L means nothing for starting pitchers. Ponson's ERA is more than 5. Hughes and Kennedy aren't any better but they're still young kids. Kennedy has actually been pitching really well in the minors so giving him another shot instead of Ponson is the smartest thing to do.

Posada just opted for surgery so he's done for the year.
Jorge needs to be catching but i guess he still has value as a switch hitting bat whether it's at 1B or as a DH even if he turns out to be longterm effected w/this... hopefully we won't have to deal w/those issues after his rehab... i think this is the best decision for both sides... Jorge delaying surgery past this point woulda been counterproductive for us next season... i think Matsui will opt for surgery as well now & the Yanks could pursue another C like Laird from TEX along w/1 of their back end starters like Vinny Padilla or Jamey Wright if they decide to become sellers at the trade deadline.
We might be getting Zach Grienke for Melky, Coke and some other prospect

No, I like them a lot; I just don't fall into the common trap of over-valuing our own prospects (frequently referred to as our "kids," a term that in itself is revealing). As for Ponson, I'd go with his season #s. That's a much larger, more reliable sample. That said, I really don't want to see him on the mound either. A $200 mil team shouldn't have Ponson and Rasner pitching 40% of the games and shouldn't go into a season with two rookies starting 40% and no backup plan.

Well, the Yankees are in a skid right now. Why are they letting he Orioles own them and look unstoppable at the Stadium?

i will say that the longer our kids fail to produce at the ML level, your opposition to passing on Johan gets a lot more warranted... it seems all of our "untouchable prospects" of just a year ago are proving to be a lot more "touchable" as the days go by... Alan Horne just had a disastrous return to AAA & gave up a ton of runs & hits & couldn't get anyone out... we just traded away Tabata for an OFer who over his career hasn't done much at all except for having a great season up to this point... Ian Kennedy has looked like horse crap early this season & Hughes has been severely injury prone.
it's obviously too early to give up on these kids tho... we're just gonna have to cross our fingers that these kids don't end up to be overly hyped busts. (except for Tabata, i hope he's a bust of monumental proportions at this point cuz Nady's not doing anything to impress me so far)

Joba's been outstanding, though. I'll give Cash a lot of credit for that one.
Hmmm. I know someone's been saying for a while that Marte isn't really that good against lefties and we didn't need a lefty specialist.
If the Yankees get swept by the Orioles, then for that alone they don't deserve to make the playoffs.

that's silly... u don't think the Red Sox or Rays got swept by weaker teams this season in a short series? this is a part of baseball, u have ur upswings & ur downswings... we're still well w/in striking distance to win this division.

I was just upset with the team. I think you're taking things a little too literally

I haven't given up on Hughes or Kennedy by any means either. It's way too early for that. I do think the odds are heavily against either one of them turning into as good a pitcher as Johan though or being as effective combined as Johan. (It's hard to talk about two pitchers combined but I don't expect there to be a point where I'd ever say I'd rather have these two guys than have Johan in his prime.)
