We might be getting Zach Grienke for Melky, Coke and some other prospect
Holy shit. Thats the deal? Thats a great trade when you look at talent.
I will say this though, we better be damn sure that Zach can pitch in NY. Although he seems like a very nice kid, he's had some personal problems in dealing with the attention that a baseball player gets.
Greinke left the Royals spring training camp for personal reasons in late February, 2006.[2] It was later revealed that he was suffering from social anxiety disorder and was having trouble working with others.[3] He reported back to the Royals' spring training facility in Surprise, Arizona, on April 17, where he has been undergoing pitching sessions. He was placed on the 60-day disabled list due to psychological issues and took time away from baseball entirely until returning on a rehab assignment with Wichita.
I would definitely make that trade though.. no doubt.
dude, it's not even a question u trade for Greinke... i'd give up Hughes or Kennedy in a heartbeat along w/Melky & Coke for him... maybe even Hughes & Kennedy together if we could nab a stopgap Catcher in the deal... Greinke is an up & coming young stud, it's obvious, & he's signed to very reasonable dollars for the next few years.
TMS, did you ready any of my post? lol. Nowhere did I say I didn't want him, all I did was raise legitimate concerns about his mental health. In the end I obviously want him, but I would not give up Hughes to get him.
i know i was just reaffirming ur post... relax douchebag.
why wouldn't u give up Hughes for him? what are u hoping Hughes will end up being someday? a young stud up & comer like Greinke, no?

Why trade Hughes for Greinke when we saw Hughes pitch as well as Greinke ever has, in the playoffs no less last year. Theres no reason to trade Hughes for a guy like Greinke.

Hughes has also been severely injury prone so far in his very young career... he's not an untouchable at all in my eyes... i would absolutely move him in the right deal... i woulda traded him for Scott Kazmir in a heartbeat too & i think Greinke will be just as good as Kaz someday & will likely be more durable.
on the other hand i don't really see Hughes w/as dominant stuff as those guys or Joba either for that matter... when he's on he's good, but when he's not he gets lit up & IMHO he projects more as a good #2 than as a dominant ace to head up a staff.

I don't know if I'd say that Hughes is injury prone, he has had 2 pretty random freak injuries.
I would trade Hughes for Kazimir too, but Kazimir ain't all that, he rarely ever goes more than 5 or 6 innings because he tries to strike everyone out. I can's stand pitchers like that and unfortuntely Joba is heading in that direction. I hope he realizes this and moves away from it.
If you think Hughes is a #2 (which is likely but let's remember he's only 22 and does have dominant stuff that needs to be honed), then why would you trade him for Greinke whose best days ahead of him are going to be as a #3 or a low-end #2?
i see Greinke as a future ace dude... a legit #1 like Josh Becket is now.

I like Greinke but that not much. You honestly have to take into consideration the mental problems he's had. I think that's going to limit how effective he can be. Just my opinion but I don't see him having that cut-throat attitude like Josh Beckett does, which is what makes him so successful.
And not for nothing, but this is Greinke's 5th year in the league and he hasn't exactly been lights out. I'm not trying to rag on the dude, because I like him and want the Yanks to get him. I'm just trying to fight off your idea of trading Hughes for him because Greinke isn't worth a Hughes type prospect.
i guess we'll have to agree to disagree then on that... i do agree that he doesn't have the same cut throat quality that Becket & Joba seem to have, but certainly he has the electric type stuff that u see from guys like Rich Harden & Tim Hudson, & both of those guys are legit #1's too... u don't have to be a bulldog to be an ace... u just gotta dominate guys & make them look weak, & Zach can do that for u... i'm not quite so sure if Hughes has that same electric stuff when i've watched him pitch... yeah he had that near no hitter that one time but u gotta judge from how he does when he doesn't have that perfect location on his pitches & see if he can just blow guys away w/his stuff alone... i haven't really seen that all that much from Hughes to be honest.

Yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree on the rest.
On the part that I quoted from you...
You haven't see that much from Hughes because he hasn't pitched that much. The 2 injuries have really derailed him, but a guy with the quality of pitches that scouts have said he has, you have to give a shot to and to be honest, he hasn't had his shot yet, the injuries have taken that away.
there are plenty of Royals fans & scouts that would loathe to give up Greinke for Hughes if u ask me... i know all about Hughes' scouting reports i just don't think he will ever live up to them... but ur right none of us have seen him enough to fully judge... i just really love what i've seen from Greinke & the stuff he's got & he's impressed me a lot more than Hughes has.

Three. He had two separate leg injuries last year plus this year's injury.
the greinke stuff was a rumor talked about on sirus satellite radio. not sure if it has any legs.
last two games were dissapointing. sexson should've batted for betemit there but i guess girardi was more concerned about pulling arod from the dh position (which was a mistake on girardi's part). and nady should've started, especially after hitting a homer the night before.
but again, arod with a massive chokejob in the 9th trying to hit a homer. that was terrible. as well as cano's strikeout...just poor approaches at the plate. our poor hitting with RISP is a prime indicator on why we can't get out of the first round anymore...and possibly why we might not make the playoffs this year.

Why did A-Rod HAVE to DH? Was he injured?
with a tough stretch of games up, he wanted to give arod a little rest - and arod said it was a good idea too.
this is purely an emotional statement but i get the feeling that as long as arod is the marquee guy here, we will underperform...
i feel strangely similar DJ

This is purely a rational statement but I get the feeling that if A-Rod bats less than 1.000, some fans will be unhappy with him.
