except no NBA teams do this... why would the Knicks? You either rest a player or you dont. Its the NBA... all the teams are good and every team has guys who can get hot and light it up.

So McBride is stuck for now behind 2 veterans the coach very much loves. Everyone loves his energy. He shot 29% last year. Rose is tradable except the coaching staff and team love him and we actually need him so there's that as well.

It looks like him getting an extra look was not just a coincidence.

Drose is like good stuff our moms “save it for when company comes”?
I see managing his minutes but this notion of holding him back is not the same. If Drose and knicks are that good we won’t need much from him on some nights. I agree.
But there will be nights were lower rung teams win and you have to try to pile those W’s on when you can.
Duece impressing and making life hard for FO is OK. If a trade opportunity comes about one player becomes desirable and onother expendable.

the guy who should worry is IQ, who was really bad for extended stretches last year. Only problem was McBride's dismal shooting didnt put any pressure on IQ. If McBride doesnt totally suck on O the guy's minutes who's should his are IQ. I LOVE IQ... we all do but McBride is a much better defender and Rose/Brunson are cemented in the rotation (of course Rose is an injury risk).

Rose as a team option for next year at $15mm... we all know Thibs loves him and he's great when he plays. If McBride AND IQ take big steps forward do you move Rose somewhere he's be happy? (Laker for those future picks maybe?)

No need to worry. Rose is 34 and injury prone— has been since 2012. McBride will get minutes whether Thibs wants it or not

If Rose is playing well and a solid playoff team comes knocking, I think the Knicks would trade Rose. On a different type of team, they may actually ask him if he wanted to go.

I think the guys behind him HAVE to be playing well. Unless IQ/McBride continue to show out Rose is really important. Man if Rose is playing well AND those guys are ready to break out it could really present us with a nice chance to acquire assets

If he is killing it and we are not, and Lakers are top 6 and are done with Westbrook, I can see it. Maybe they make that deal with Pacers?
I can see he might want a buyout to move on if they can install him as a starter for a playoff run. I don’t think we get one of those juicy first rounders back. It would be nice. I don’t they can be protected that many years out?
But, if there is a good path to a chip? Maybe.

McBride is getting the shots off, but this is not the Gleague.
Its easy to see a repeat of last year playing between Westchester and the Varsity.

Did I not see McBride and Brunson out there at the same time? I didn't watch much of the game. But I noticed that.

Maybe Thibs goes with 2 QBs in the backcourt and goes small with EF as the SF with Randle & RJ?

With all the Centers shooting 3's, your almost better going small with guys that can switch & stay on the perimeter & you don't have to worry about getting posted up.

But confident Brunson or McBride could do this:

Brunson & Deuce did not need D.Rose creative performance in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter to beat the Lottery Detroit Pistons by 21 points !!!

The eastern conference may have 8 to 10 teams playing .500 b.ball throughout the season including the Knicks.
When playing these teams the Knicks will need a 24 to 28 minute healthy D.Rose.
D.Rose playing 8 to 12 minutes vs Lottery teams is good for D.Rose and Deuce McBride.
Sorry fellas, I have more of a liking for Deuce McBride high IQ in the backcourt than I do for Grimes.

having Grimes & Cam injured I'm expecting Deuce McBride to receive 20 or more minutes throughout the preseason games

Deuce just needs to be in the rotation. And on those 6 steal games, why burn out Rose and let these deep young legs carry us against teams we supposed to beat. If this team clicks like this and JB is consistent, there should be plenty of games or stretches for rose get reduced mins and increase deuce.

My problem is what happens when everybody is healthy or at least grimes? We are very deep and simply a good situation for Rose to extend his career and get paid while playing reduced mins or games. But thibs and rose are BFFs. Who knows what thibs will do. Just wish he could have a version of what we saw in the regular season.

Glad to see Deuce is seeing some action and it translating into good things for the team.
Hopefully this is the start of something for him.

Same here. I think he sticks with deuce as long as the Ws pile up. I was never worried about his offense. But Im glad he finally scored for his own confidence. His defensive intensity is contagious.
